Had a lovey time drinking and eating on the back patio. Dog friendly spot, they're happy to bring out a water dish. I got the pot roast dip and a huckleberry margarita and it was delicious! Food was so amazing and drink was fantastic, so much, that I talked about it for 2 weeks to everybody and went back for more. Except the next time I went, the gravy for the sandwich was literally just trimming of the meat. I dipped it once and that took all the sauce, it was not the gravy I got the first time. So that bummed me out because I was looking so forward to it. Then I got my huckleberry margarita and it was great like i remembered. I went with a friend so i was like I'll splurge since I'm not driving, so I ordered another. The second was not great at all. It tasted like I got huckleberry sauce with sugar. It did not taste the same as the first one I got. I should have sent it back honestly because I left after, not feeling like I did the first time I went. I ended up going and buying all the stuff to make the margaritas and sandwich with the gravy myself the following week. read more

We have eaten here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have also become somewhat regulars at lunch. I love the fish and chips Fridays. Really good fish and never greasy. Always an interesting selection of beers on tap. Very friendly staff. Love the burgers, the Cuban Meatloaf sandwich (try the Dub sauce on this, mmmm), the chicken strips (they are not just for kids you know), and the crispy chicken sandwich. Stopped in recently for a pint (or two) and some small bites. Within 10 minutes, the fella & I knew we'd be back & frequently. The patio setting was just nestled enough & felt chill & relaxing despite having a view of a parking garage. The service was speedy & friendly. We had the fried pickles & deviled eggs, which change daily. Our turn was corned beef (!) and other wondrous flavors - man, those eggs were good. Our speedy & friendly server introduced himself to us, thanked us for coming in, & hoped we'd be back. Realized after that he's the owner & we thought it pretty cool that he was manning the bar, taking orders, and enthusiastically agreeing with us that his chefs create some tasty food. Always want the best for a new restaurant in Bend, but typically a spot will go all out and then cut it back on quality after honing it all in. J. Dub is unfortunately doing the opposite. Got the soft shell crab sandwich, but instead of plump crab I got deep fried claws on a white bread bun. I couldn't finish the thing after taking a bite and getting a sandy, floury mouthful. And for the $3 upgrade, now a $15 meal, the salad was simply iceberg lettuce and store bought croutons. I'm only being critical so that J. Dub can start to home it in and put out quality, otherwise it won't last in such a volatile market. read more

Boom! It's a find that we stumbled upon and it was well worth taking a gamble. Super chill and super delicious. The breakfast tacos are fantastic and who doesn't want sausage gravy on their taco. From the minute we walked in the door we were greeted and treated well. The owner/chef explained that everything including the sauces were homemade. The pride of ownership showed in the food and service. We had the pot roast sandwich, as stated by owner 'as good as Grandma's" and it was, the au jus/ gravy was so delicious we wanted to eat it with a spoon. The burger (which is what we came for because we heard they were great) was perfect. The fries were fresh cut, hot and golden brown - the best ones we have had in a long time. Drove up to Bend from the SF Bay Area for a look see. After a 6+ hour drive with our 8 year old granddaughter, dying for some good food (that wasn't a drive through) and a comfortable atmosphere. This place has high marks on Yelp and lived up to every bit of their positive reviews. Had the Cuban sandwich - an experiment for me which came highly recommended by our friendly waitress. It was deeelicious!! She was so right about the bite (comparing it to a Reuben). Who would have thought meatloaf and ham? Grandpa had a pot roast sandwich with gravy to dip and my highly critical other half thoroughly enjoyed it. What's more the granddaughter was amused by the kid's menu and ordered the "I don't care" (chicken strips) and what's more she was able to contribute to the wall of fame with her artwork. Later during the trip we met up with friends who are locals (their family has been in Bend for 4 generations) and they were so excited that we were able to eat at J Dub's because it turned out to be a favorite of theirs as well. I was not expecting this to be as good as it was. Got the original burger and fries and omg it was probably one of the best burgers I've ever had (and I've had A LOT). Not too thick, not too thin, great flavor and tasted very fresh. It says on the menu they use all-natural Oregon beef so that's great. The fries were perfectly cooked and the fry sauce was awesome as well. Husband and I shared the pesto bacon mac & cheese and it was an interesting take on mac & cheese with great flavor. Asked Yelp for help finding a place for dinner since we're here from out of town. The menu pics clinched the deal. I've never seen a menu that made me laugh. I knew it was our kind of place! We eat out a fair amount in Springfield and Eugene and can say we've never had such a completely satisfying experience. The variety, the drinks, the service, the food...all top notch. Every staff member that walked by asked how we were doing. They weren't annoying though- they just take such pride in their work, they actually wanted to make sure we were taken care of. I have only one suggestion... I wish the pot roast sandwich was on a sturdier bun. Doesn't take away from the stars though because it was a super sandwich and everything else was great. I just think the kitchen works so hard, they shouldn't have their masterpiece over shadowed by soggy bread. Go there.
