J&S - A bunch of crooks. A year ago, I started working nearby. I drive a lot and run used tires on my vehicle to save money; I go through a lot of tires and plugs a year. I have been going to this place for a year because it is so close to my work. I notice a tire losing air, I can drive there during lunch and get a plug or a new tire. Over the last year, I have purchased at least three tires from J&S and lots of plugs. This review is about my last two visits.
Recently, I needed another tire and drove to J&S on my lunch hour. I asked for a used tire to be put on. At J&S, used tires got for $30.00 installed. This guy rolls out this tire and in broken English started telling me that he wants $60.00 for this used tire because it has "good tread". I laughed at him and prepared to drive off. Only then did he sell the tire for $30.00 and install it. Not only did this guy try and rob me of $30.00 but he was also trying to rob the owner in my opinion.
Just the other day, I woke up and noticed a tire was almost flat on my car. I drove it to the nearby QT and filled it with air. I then drove to work and went to J&S on my lunch hour. I told this guy about the flat and he looked and said that I had a screw in the tire. He took the tire off and went in back to plug it. He brought it back and told me the cost was $10.00. I gave him a $5.00 tip too. The thing is, he didn't thank me, or smile, when I gave him this tip. I noticed it at the time but thought little about it.
The next day I woke up for work and the same tire was almost flat. I went to the local QT, filled it with air, and drove to work. On my lunch hour I went back to J&S. This time there was a young man there. I told him that I had the same tire plugged just yesterday and said: "What? You don't check to see if it's still leaking after you plug it?" He took it in the back and soon came back to show me that I had a screw in the tire. Now, I know that coincidences happen but that is SOME coincidence! That the guy who plugged it the day before told me there was a screw in it and now this other guy is telling me that there is a screw in the same tire a day later.
Do you know what I think happened? The J&S guy from the day before just took the tire in the back and pumped it up with air and brought it back out to me. And that's why he didn't say thank you, or smile, when I gave him a $5.00 tip. And the young man at J&S must have thought the same thing because he plugged the tire for free.
I'll tell you this, I will NEVER go back to J&S. I was a steady customer and they tried to rob me the last two visits there after a year of loyal patronage. I didn't see the owner there both times and I think that these employees are getting up to this crap behind his back. It's pretty bad. They are a TIRE PLACE and the same employees are trying to sell used tires for double the price and just blowing up tires with air when their lazy selves are supposed to be plugging them. Buyers beware J&S. read more
