I purchased a half pallet of sod and some topsoil from J&J Nursery. It cost me almost $700.00. I was so disappointed when I noticed the the top soil had almost as much clay as it did top soil. And the sod had more crab grass than St Augustine. I went back to the store and told them. I was told that it looks like crab grass and that I could start treating it in a few weeks. I followed up with a text and photos and did not hear back from anyone which made me feel like I mot only wasted my money, I was also wasting my time. read more

Exceptional experience!! I do not have a green thumb AT ALL, so that made me very appreciative of the service that I received. I explained what I wanted (low maintenance houseplant), and the friendly staff pointed me to my ideal plant. The staff took the time to answer all of my questions and gave me resources to learn more about the care of my plant. They were kind enough to let my service dog walk the grounds with me...which made me more comfortable, and Prince (my pitbull) was happy to discover all of the new smells. We bought sod from J & J yesterday and it was in perfect condition! 2 weeks ago, we purchased a pallet of sod from another vendor and it was terrible compared to the sod we purchased from J & J yesterday. I will attach 2 -3 photos of the difference in quality, so that you can see the difference. Every square of grass from J & J was perfectly green- and the company we purchased from two weeks ago, once we took the first layer of grass off- the entire pallet was golden teal low and nearly dead. I purchased a half pallet of stone and had it delivered. I originally was going to purchase a pallet but the kind employees told me it was may too much. When going to pay for the half pallet the price was only a couple hundred less. The full pallet was $730ish and the half pallet was $430ish. ‍ 16 cent to 18 cents ‍. I have driven past this nursery for years and thought they only had landscaping rocks. Well the other day I started looking on-line for a Talavera Mexican Bird Bath and could not find one in stock anywhere. I came across their sister store on Spring Cypress Rd. showing they had them so I called, they were out of stock but they gave me the the phone number to J & J and said they thought they still had al least one. I phoned and spoke to a wonderful lady there and she said the had a few and was kind enough to send me pictures. I choose the the most colorful one and offered to pay with my credit card over the phone and she said no they could put my name on and hold it for me. My husband and I went there and instead of just purchasing the beautiful bird bath we purchased some lovely flowers for my yard. This nursery is amazing, they have everything you will ever need, plants, ornamental yard art, soil, rocks, etc. They are very knowledgeable in everything they sell which is of great help. The place is beautiful and so are are all the people that run it. Polite, accommodating and plain down to earth. They load everything up for you and the prices are as good as Lowe's or Home Depot but with much better quality plant, flowers and service with a smile is a added plus. We have found our new nursery! They short you on grass/ sod, just bought 2 pallets of sod here and one pallet was multiple layers shorter than the other. Asked forklift driver why and they've replied "the dirt is thicker", which it was definitely not. So then I asked the manager why which they said "we do not stack them" and immediately turned around and walked away. Either way, never bringing my business here again and if you feel like not getting your moneys worth, this is the place to go! There are plenty of better options in the area. read more

Selling sod that isn't what you paid for, Beware! ! We had a landscaper resod our back yard and parts of the front. We paid for Raleigh St. Augustine but what was installed was what a sod farm calls "Mixed Grass". It has the invasive Bermuda grass mixed in, which is almost impossible to get rid of. We had resodded and tilled just to get rid of it before, but now we just had a whole yard of it installed! This was purchased at J&J Nursery in Spring. DO NOT get your sod from there unless you don't care what is installed....or how much you're paying for it. Our landscaper bought it and picked it up but he says J & J says too bad, he can't get his money (our $345) back from them. So now we have expense of removing, buying the correct sod and installing. And since the exiisting grass had been cut out to maintain the same height level, removing the crap grass leaves us with nothing but a dirt/muddy mess until the real St. Augustine, bought from a reputable business, is laid. read more
