I suppose the negative reviews here are based on preconceived notions of what you're expecting or what you're use to, to begin with. That little boy some of you are complaining can be very rambunctious, as can ANY 5 year old. He can also be very sweet and engaging. As for the employee's rudeness? I have never seen them be rude to anyone unless someone gets snippy or demanding with them first. I can only assume some of you may have a difficult time making or maintaining friendships or other relationships. I have a blast with them. I have such a good time every time I go in there. I have a routine for the day when I get my nails done. I make my appointments on my day off. I have my fun at Ivy Nails and wait until I get home to have a glass of wine and then a snooze. With my perfectly done nails. And Christy is great with hair cuts and waxing. read more

I wanted to get my nails done for valentines, so i went to Ivy nails and i was so disappointed they are awfully rude. they yelled at me because i wanted to change my nail color. I will not return and it sucks because they did do a good job on my nails. They are just rude!!! Someone needs to tell them that they need to be nicer. read more

RACIST employees/management!! I witnessed first hand how they refused to service or make an future appointment to an African American lady by saying "We're busy all day today, tomorrow, and next week, and that the price is $42 ( when it's listed as $18 on the price display!!!)." I've been going here for 3 years and every time I would make appointment Ann would say your appointment ain't for another hour. This was happening very frequent but I know I could not be making a mistake on every appointment it was because she was over booking her appointment scheduled so when I would show up on time she would Yell at me and tell me that I have another hour to wait so I got tired of her yelling at me and was very racist towards me. Another time my daughter-in-law came in the store and tried to get her nails done and she told my daughter-in-law that she cannot afford to do her nails my daughter-in-law has dark skin so she did not want to do her nails so my advice to you is if you have dark skin you should not go here you are not welcome here they like your money but not your skin read more

So I went to an appointment with my mom who speaks little English to help her translate what kind of nails she wanted. Instantly they were being rude because she already had nails on from previously getting them done. I don't know why it mattered as most places are fine with removing or fixing previously done nails. I asked the lady to please be careful with my mothers hands as she is iron deficient and has very fragile nails. Literally 2 minutes after I said that she proceeded to cut my mom really bad to the point where she was bleeding. I felt bad for my mom but didn't say anything or even complain neither did my mom. Then when she put her nails on she put 2 cricket and they looked awful. we kindly asked if she could fix it and at first she hesitated telling us that's how her finger is (WHICH IT ISNT) but finally after removing the nails she reapplied them AND THEY WERE STILL CRICKET. so I asked again nicely if there was anything she could do to fix it because I just wanted my mom to be happy with her nails and the lady said "IF YOU DONT LIKE IT GO SOMEWHERE ELSE" and my mom said "no it's ok im sorry". then the lady said "no, people like you don't pay. if you don't like it leave" I reassured the lady we were going to pay and she kept insisting we wouldn't. so I told her we'd be leaving. I believe she said this because we are Mexican. I have worked customer service and I know how hard the job is. I understand that sometimes it is stressful dealing with demanding customers so I was doing my best to be nice and patient but she was not being patient or kind to us whatsoever. This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Don't waste your money on this place. I was there getting a manicure and pedicure with my mother and soon to be sister in law. My niece and daughter were getting color on their nails and toe nails. I was already sitting in the chair with my feet soaking, when I noticed one of the techs already had my daughter at her table and was polishing her nails. I've taken my daughter with me many times when getting my nails done. And I've always asked that her nails be first wiped with nail polish remover to remove any oils off her nails. I've found that this helps keep the polish from chipping off right away. We couldn't get the tech's attention. So my sis-in-law got the owner, Ann's attention. We asked her if the tech could wipe my daughter's nails down first with nail polish remover? Oh my goodness, this lady's reaction was short of amazing! I explained to her (which I felt I should not have had to do since we were paying customers) that I just wanted her nails wiped to remove any oils so the nail polish wouldn't come off right away. She started on a rant saying it always falls off right away. That my daughter needed shellac if I want it to last. All three of us were dumbfounded by what we were seeing. And of course she starts speaking in her native language and gets the other techs going. Including the tech with my daughter. We don't understand the language but their eyes, body language and tone said it all. They were upset and they were talking about us. Wow! The client at Ann's table tried to explain to her what we were asking and Ann started going off on her too! At one point the tech that had my daughter, had her arms and legs folded and was glaring at my daughter. My daughter was sitting there with her little hands under the lamp waiting for them to dry, looking at the tech glaring at her. When I saw this I reacted and yelled, "hey" to get her attention. I got everyone's attention in that salon but neither the tech or Ann asked anything. I made it very clear that I saw her glaring at my daughter. We were supposed to be having a good time, getting ready for my brother's wedding and spending time with the bride. That was all ruined by the owner of this salon, Ann. I refused the manicure and didn't allow the tech to do my daughter's toes. The best part is that my sister in law has been Ann's customer for over 10 years. Even before Ann owned her own salon. She had recommended Ivy nails. She was just as surprised with Ann's reaction as we all were. I felt really bad for her because she will always remember this happening right before her wedding. Don't bother going to this salon. There are so many other nail salons in Salem that actually value and respect their customers. There isn't a need in risking being yelled at and humiliated. read more

They seem to be predominantly nails but stop in for a no appointment men's haircuts. They have one salon chair but there was no waiting! Christine did a great job! She was very experienced and personable. We will be back in a few weeks for our next haircuts but will make an appointment. Thank you !! read more

I have been a return customer for over a year at Ivy Nails, each time I go there is a little boy there that is loud and BORED, sometimes the entire shop chips in to help get him whatever he wants. I've overlooked it until today. Today he was hitting the male nail tech with a cell phone WHILE the nail tech continued to give the pedicure to a client. The nail tech finally took the little boy to the back room and when he came out he was still hitting and screaming at the top of his lungs. Last straw for me, I will NOT be returning, this is super unprofessional, not relaxing in the least AND I got to pay for it! read more

I've gotten my nails done here since I moved to Salem and I've really liked my nails every time! I don't ever go to a specific person because I forget their names but they have all done a really good job. I always call in a head of time and ask when it is they will have time for a full set or fill and they have always been able to fit me in within an hour of when I call. But... If you don't call you might find yourself waiting for half an hour or more and of course this will upset anyone, so I would definitely suggest you call ahead of time. The only downside is that they don't have the best color choice with regular nail polish but their shellac colors are great. I just don't always want to splurge on shellac because I get acrylic as well. And as far as price I think it's very reasonable I think I pay $25-$30 for a full set and $18 for a fill. They also give you your own nail file to bring back every time or give you a new one every time you go, but I believe it's a $1 if you get a new one. There is a language barrier though so as far as communicating what type of nail shape or length I want for best results I find its best when I show a picture so there's no confusion. read more
