I made an appointment for 11am and didn't get seen until 11:30. When I finally sat down I saw two different cups, one with black ants crawling all over it and the other with old food in it. I agree with one of the other reviewers about a tech's child. He was screaming at the top of his lungs. As far as my gel manicure, it was done pretty well. One of the colors I chose was pretty light and could have done with another coat, as you can still see my nail lines underneath. The cost posted for a gel manicure was $17 but I was charged $27. When I asked about it, the man told me I got a full set. I was thought that a full set was referring to acrylic nails. I don't think I'll come back here. I have gotten much cleaner and pleasant gel manicure for almost half the price at Nails Now just down the road. read more

Seemed fair and I loved my nails! my reason for never going back or recommending this salon again is when I went for a fill with my friend who had gone with me the first time as well and was charged the same $55, we were now charged $65 for a FILL! I got sat a table and was ignored the entire service while my artist was yelling on FaceTime and kept slapping my hand because I was too nervous to relax! I got the normal pedicure which was $31 (plus $5 tip) which initially I thought was a bit pricey. However they went the extra mile for sanitation so the price makes sense to me now. She grabbed a brand new nail file and exfoliating tools and then bagged them up and gave them to me after. Also the massage was nice and long and I really enjoyed it. The only precautions being taken for covid is the plastic around each station and face masks. They don't sanitize before or after each person. They messed up my nails after telling them 3x it was supposed to be a defined coffin, I left and called back later to have them fixed when I went the lady on station #3 that had fixed my nails was super friendly . Once I walked out you can hear them laughing after asking if they were better. You can tell when they are making fun of you. It was super unprofessional of them to do so. I wanted to treat myself on the day before Valentine's Day, so I splurged getting the pedicure AND the manicure. I decided to try a more convenient location and this was a big mistake, as I have never left a review before. The massage portion is one of the big reasons as to why I love pedicures. I stand on my feet for 12+ hours a day, so this was something I was looking forward to. I'm used to the massages coming up to my calves, and the technicians taking their time with them, so I was greatly disappointed when she took less than one minute on both feet.The same went for the hand massage. Kind of felt like she used the lotion sparingly so that she didn't have much to rub in. When it comes to length, I prefer mine a bit on the longer side. Not grossly long, but definitely not short. She asked if I wanted them shorter, and I said I liked them long and wanted to keep them that size. She suggested we cut off a little bit and I only agreed because she kept giving me reasons as to why they should BE shorter. They were not only short, but very uneven. I pointed it out that out to her and she not only went shorter, but she didn't get the lengths to match and a lot of my nails were cut with a slant. The guy who did my manicure did a decent job, so I would like to say that. The pedicure on the other hand, was sloppy. Looking at it now, I realize that she missed portions of my nails closer to skin. It could have been done better. The white on my toes looks piled on, you can see layers on the bed of the nails, and different shades of white. Overall, if you are looking for a relaxing experience and a place where you get what you ask for, this is not the place for you. There was a woman sitting next to me who asked for almond-shaped nails and the technician basically told her no because she didn't ask for the before she cut them, even though she had the photo on her phone and she has showed her the picture. I rarely take the time to write a negative review, but in this case, i felt it was necessary. I had been recommended to this place via Silverton Facebook page. I couldn't have been more disappointed. I get pedicures not just to get my feet looking pretty, but for peace, quiet and relaxation. This place is anything BUT that. One of the employees had their tantrum throwing child there and he was running all over screaming, spitting on the floor, running and sliding etc. My pedicures was on his Bluetooth on his phone. Another manicurist was on her speakerphone. The rest of the employees seemed to be having a very loud party in the back room, yelling, loud laughing, etc. This place stressed me out more than when I arrived. I will NEVER return. It's really hard to find a place that does a descent job, my nails never hold up well, because of my oily nailbed. At Ivy my nails can last 3 weeks or so, and they NEVER lift. Only a few places in town can actually do my nails and it lasts. I agree, this place isn't perfect but honestly for my what matters the most is how my nails look and how long they last. I had the most heavenly pedicure with foot, calf and shin massage that was just wonderful. I have been a returning customer to Ivy Nails for 3 years and I liked their work despite the noise but yesterday did it for me because Ann ( the lady at the first table) got too comfortable and showed how racist and ignorant she is after I told her I was going to recommend my friend to do her nails for her wedding. She asked me if she was black and I was like yeah , not thinking anything of her question until she had the guts to look at me in the face and told me she doesn't like to take black people because "they" are crazy and they won't pay you but she will take her if she says I sent her. I immediately asked her if she realized she was talking to a black woman and her respond was that she has known me for a long time because I have been doing my nails there for over 3 years . She had me messed up if she thought I was going to let it slide and not put her in her place !! I started off nicely trying to speak some sense into her by pointing out what she just did . Still she didn't seem to get it and explained that the black women in Portland wear long nails!! And they scare her . I don't take discrimination of any kind lightly so I was furious and disappointed that she thought of me as better but scared of other black people and won't work with them . So I made sure everyone heard and I am sure others heard her comments because she wasn't quiet about it . This isn't the first time . First they made fun of my accent because I am from Africa and I had to put a stop to it and didn't take it very personally. Several occasions she asked if I was from the part of Africa where people are naked. I had to educate her on it . Third she asked if I was mixed with something because I wasn't too dark skin . I had to educate her again that Africans come in many shades of brown. And still didn't take it personal . I took yesterday's incident very seriously because this is what is wrong when people discriminate against a group of people without knowing them. And I don't like discrimination. If I could give Ivy Nails a half a star I would.. This was by far the worst experience I ever had at a nail salon.. I had called to see availability for a full set for a Saturday and before I could finish my sentence a lady who answered said "just come right now I have time now" so there I hung up and drove 20 mins to Ivy nails. I picked a color and let them know I was the lady who called. They had seated me and started bringing out stuff for a simple manicure I said "wait I asked for a full set" they looked confused and said "no we don't have time for that today.. you can come later" I said "I'm sorry I had specifically told you over the phone a full set and before I could tell you exactly what I wanted you proceeded to tell me to come.. so your telling me I drove here for nothing ?".. and she continue to argue with me on what I had said over the phone and said "you never said a full set and nodded her head no. " I eventually ended the conversation by walking out confused and embarrassed.. if you own your own nail salon and take all phone calls learn how to properly talk to your customers and have a set schedule and not be a scattered brain with a scattered ass schedule. I received a shellac manicure from Katy and will be going back to her without a doubt! It's been nearly two weeks, I haven't had any lifting/bubbling/peeling at all which was a pleasant surprise to me because she was very gentle and hardly buffed my nail bed. I even had part of my index fingernail chip from nicking it with my razor but I was able to file the edge smooth, seal it with a tiny dot of superglue (just in case), and you can't even tell it happened. In addition to a wonderful mani, her tools and utensils were perfectly clean, she had appropriate disposable materials, and her cleaning solutions were in proper containers (not a bowl of dirty solution as I have sent in another salem nail salon). The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the light box could have used a little wipe down! Besides that, Katy was pleasant but quiet and my shellac is still perfect. read more

Poor customer service as well. I don't think the price I paid is even worth it. The ladies that work there are just too rushed and try working as fast as they could but the girl I got was slow. I called in to see if they could fix them and when I got there and they saw that they were all lifting, they were denying that I got my nails done there. While the tech did a good job on my nails, I would not go here again. I have been here 2 times and both of these visits I had the same person. I don't usually mind when people bring their child to work, but in this situation I was extremely unhappy with it. The techs son is youngish...maybe 4-6? I'm not sure but either way his behavior was very unsettling. The first visit he was screaming cuss words at his tablet while he played it and after a while he got bored and came to my tech for something, I'm not sure what was said as I don't speak that language but he did not seem to like what he was told and proceeded to grab the lady doing my nails and shake her while screaming. She had to stop several times and eventually one of the other ladies came over to distract him so his mom? Could finish. On my second visit, the tech came in late with her son? And he was already screaming at her and shaking her to the point of not being able to continue with my nails. Again, one of the techs came over to distract him and gave him some napkins to take to another tech who was with a customer, he stopped walking about halfway to her and threw the napkins at the tech. Both her customer and myself were shocked at his behavior. While they don't seem to mind this kids cursing and demanding attention, I do.
