Spacious, clean, and lively brewery with good food and drinks. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. The pizza was pretty good, especially if you like spicy food. The real MVP was the Fried Chicken Sandwich, which was perfectly crispy and juicy. We also ordered flights of beers. They were very generous with their pours as I'm tipsy as I'm writing this right now. Our favorites were the Apricot Wheat and Every Day Haze. read more

Always great food and service here. This is my third visit and the first during winter weather. The dining area is relaxed but bright which is a great thing when the weather is so cold. All the staff were very attentive and there were a lot of them serving. Our waiter was very attentive and the food arrived quickly. I had the dessert special and although it sounded like an odd combination; bacon, ice cream and bread pudding so go well together. I tried the Fuggly Sweater beer which was amazing. Light seasonal flavor that wasn't overpowering. The bar was full so I know other patrons were enjoying many of the various flavors. Great experience all-around. We will definitely be back. read more

We were visiting nearby Cornell University and decided to stop here. I hate to judge a restaurant based on one visit but this was my experience. The beer is fantastic as others have said. I loved the amazing root beer from the Ithaca soda company too. The food not so much. My burger sounded amazing by the description with lots of local and homemade items. I had the tap house burger. The patty was over cooked on the outside and had an odd slightly off putting taste. The bun it came on is a cheap supermarket style roll that quickly disintegrated and fell apart when faced with the hot burger. The ketchup had a sour taste and quite a bit of spicy heat. I like heat but my mom does not so she couldn't eat it. The fries were homemade but much too salty for my taste. My teenage son didn't mind the salty flavor mixed with gravy in his poutine. Not a lot of cheese curds in there though. Service was friendly and efficient. The cost was high for the quality of the food. I did bring home lots of beer for my husband though. read more

It's hard to enjoy a beer knowing this place is ran by poor management that treats its staff inhumanely. The lack of leadership is seen through the changes that used to make this place great. The portion sizes, prices and beer have all changed. The staff is friendly and they care about the customers. If only management felt the same to not only just care about the customer experience but treating staff in a way that valued them and their commitment. This came up rather early on a list of things to check out in Ithaca and I have to say - solid recommendation! The outdoor area is absolutely stunning, and especially loved viewing a sunset and then chilling with the patio lights on. I wasn't expecting to be blown away by the pizza, as I'm visiting from the city, but this chicken and peppers combo was absolutely fantastic. My only criticism is that the beer on tap seemed a little watered down? Like the flavors were very unique but they felt weak and lacking in depth. We really wanted to like this place based on our friends' suggestion that it has a nice outdoor seating with a beer garden setting. But they no longer seem to have the outdoor tent / beer garden, despite what the staff told us on the phone. We called in advance to ask if outdoor seating was available and when we got there, the staff rudely told us "we are not seating outside 0 not sure what you heard". On top of that, we were disappointed with the food options which were greasy and limited in choice - even compared to standard pub fare. Be warned you may be overcharged and management will not amend your issue! Very disappointed with how the manager, Amanda, handled my customer service issue. I called and spoke with her after two of my credit cards were charged incorrectly. I explained to Amanda that when I was cashing out, the employee ran my credit card that I used to open a tab, and then the employee told me he needed a different card to cash me out. In the moment I did not question it and offered a second card. The next day I realized both cards were charged the full amount I owed, so I paid double what I really owed. Over the phone, Amanda looked up the transaction and saw that I had two cards charged, she then refunded one of my cards because of the incorrect payment. Later, she rescinded the refund and told me the restaurant would be out money. I do not understand why this has resulted in the customer having to pay double what I owed. Be warned if you chose to dine here that you could be overcharged or have employees fool you out of money. read more

We pointed out this out, but the hostess was dismissive and made no effort to double check with her manager, despite the place not being busy. Sat at the single picnic table on the grass near the food tent outside, since we were with our dog. We had gotten mixed information regarding whether dogs are allowed: online (including some Yelp reviews) I read we could sit with our canine companion under the outdoor tent, but when we got there we were told we had to stay *outside* the tent, on the grass, where we could use the Adirondack chairs (it was a beautiful, sunny afternoon--too sunny not to have the shelter of the tent, but we dealt). We ordered a few drafts of the apricot summer wheat beer (crisp and smooth), cheese nachos (surprisingly tasty queso), and the tacos: carnitas, chicken mole and beef barbacoa. Everything was delicious but I was most impressed with the tortillas themselves: they appeared to be hand-made, with delicious charred spots but supple and filling at the same time. You could taste the corn through and through! (I'm a tortilla snob, admittedly). Keep up the good work, Ithaca Beer Co., and please admit dogs under the tent. read more

This place has gone way down hill. I'd like to say it was an off night but I fear it has changed for the worse. We've been going here for 8 years and what keeps us coming back is the great service, people, and food. This last visit fell short on all 3. First we didn't recognize a single person there. Second it was empty on a Friday night & it took a good 10 minutes to get our beers. The person that brought our food barely spoke when we asked a few questions. My SO ordered her burger medium well with a salad. It came out medium rare so she sent it back. 20 minutes later it comes out cooked to the right temp but with fries. She told our server she had a salad with the burger and it didn't seem to register. My burger was fine and my son's burger was fine but not as good as in the past. We ordered poutine that was mediocre. The check comes and we get charged for the salad that she didn't get to eat that was replaced with fries when they redid her burger. We asked for it to be removed and it took another 10 minutes. In the past when something wasn't right they comped us something. The effort to make it right was always there. Not this time. We stopped by with a group of 7 for lunch on a rainy Friday. All seating was outside on that day but the large tents kept nice and dry. Their tables were nice and big so we had no issue finding a spot where we could all stay together. Ithaca Beer Co kept us safe by allowing us to order, single file, at a register outside. They delivered our drinks promptly and gave us buzzers to let us know when our food was ready to be picked up. Really great spot to grab some dinner and try some beers. Came here with my boyfriend our first night in Ithaca for a weekend getaway. It was nighttime so we did not see the grounds of the brewery but the inside was very nice. Staff are taking precautions with covid- masks, hand sanitizers at every table, colorful divisions between tables that I think add to the colorful ambiance, no one drinking at the bar. Only downside is no flights :( We got the cheddar soup, spicy chicken pizza, and taproom burger. I loved the burger which came with chips, my boyfriend mentioned the soup being a bit salty but I liked it. Taproom burger was juicy and just right, pizza was good too. *This review applies to the BBQ truck only* I visited Ithaca Beer earlier this fall. The views and the brews are unmatched. But I wanted to leave some feedback on the BBQ. I know Ithaca is not prime BBQ territory but I still was pretty underwhelmed with my meal, and I got to try everything on the menu. The Mac and cheese was great but everything else was disappointing-- the chicken and ribs were pretty dry and barely seasoned, the pulled pork also needed more sauce and flavor, and the slaw and potatoes were also really plain. Most of the food was barely warm and the price was also too high for the portion size. Will definitely be coming back to IBC but not for the BBQ. read more

All covid related guidelines were enforced and people were impressively cooperative - social distancing, masks when not seated, easily accessible hand sanitizer, 1 food item per party We were advised to go early because the place fills up. It definitely did! A bit of a line but not an issue because there is just so much space for everyone and there's enough turnover that it didn't fill to capacity (at least on the sunny Saturday afternoon that we went) Large food menu and lots of families and groups. What an amazing brewery. Went here earlier this summer and continues to remain a fond memory. This was one of the first restaurants we went to in person during the downturn of the COVID-19 pandemic. The atmosphere stood out to me the most - they have a beautiful space here for outdoor seating, and I think while the weather is still warm we gotta make the most of it. I had the Flower Power IPA which was delicious and had a bright flavor despite the high potency :) My wife had the Raspberry Soiree Sour which she LOVED. She doesn't usually drink or enjoy alcohol, but now whenever we go to any grocery store with alcohol she always looks for this drink and is inevitably disappointed when she can't find it (we live in MA). Now that's saying something. Not often that food and beer go hand in hand at a brewery - but in this case it for sure did. We got the burger which was super flavorful and juicy, with a nice herbal butter that paired fantastic with it. I wish we could come back ... next time when we're traveling here for sure :) read more

We visited about two weeks ago. That particular day was very cold. They take COVID seriously - no inside option available, must order food the same time you order your drink, all outside tables are socially distanced, employees walking around at all times, etc. They had heaters and fire pits, one closed tent and one larger open tent. There is also a second bar, but didn't open until 2:00 p.m. that day. We did manage to find a table by a heater, but it kept going out. We asked two different employees to take a look, but I think the tank was empty. This place definitely has the outside space to create something very special. I would have the fire pits lit (none were), made sure the tanks were full and even taken the extra step of having blankets available for patrons. This was our first visit, so I'm not sure what it's like outside of COVID, but I can see how this place would draw the crowds. It's tucked back, off the beat and path, offer great food and quality beer. read more

Definitely a great place to visit in Ithaca! I've been a long time fan of their Flower Power IPA and even secretly loved their apricot beer so it was a no brainer to come here while in the area. Inside the brewery, there is a dining room and bar, then there's an outside patio with table service and finally a beer garden with picnic tables that is "serve yourself" from the bar & grill outside. My friends and I opted for the beer garden and had some tasty beers and food. The beer options are limited outside but you can always go into the bar to get the full menu. Grill options are plentiful and I had the sweet and sour chicken and some fries. All very good, esp the chicken! There are games like cornhole outside and plenty of space for kids to run around. My wife and I visited on a Friday afternoon. Service was slow once seated- certainly not because they were busy. Once we ordered the beer came out quickly and was good. Never saw our server again. We had to flag down another server to inquire as to status of our food order. She told us 10 more minutes and offered no apologies. When asked, she lied and told us a large party came in and our server was helping them. Total BS. Food was acceptable for a brewery but not exceptional. This brewery has a huge outside area with a bunch of seats under the roof as well as seats under the sun to enjoy. So, you do not feel that the place gets overcrowded. As per new rules, you cannot order just-drinks, you have to have a bite. The management was smart and created two different menus: fast snacks and general food. I was looking forward to this place because I'd gotten a recommendation from a friend. It just never got on the right foot. When I arrived with my wife we were told it would be a 30 minute wait. This wasn't a problem given the staffing issues restaurants are facing. We sat at the bar and spent most of the 30 minutes waiting for the bartender to return. Beer selection is substantial enough that you'll find something that you'll like When we were seated, service was courteous but curt. Took a solid hour for our entrees to come out. Again, you have to be patient these days. The problem was that the food was terrible. The hamburger I ordered was overcooked, flavorless and came out cold. My wife's pizza was decent enough that she ate it, but I put mine down after one bite. Server shrugged, said she'd take it off the bill, and that was that. This place is a little off the beaten path, but worth the visit. They have both indoor and outdoor seating when the weather is nice. They also serve food sourced from local farms and vendors. While you can find some of the beers you can at your local bar like Flower Power or Apricot Wheat, they have a wider selection in the taproom and you can order flights. On my last visit we were kicking off my BFF's bachelorette weekend and our first stop was there. Don't worry, we weren't an obnoxious crew. I came here on a Saturday for lunch and was not disappointed! I arrived right before noon on a Sunday and the parking lot was already filling up. It is definitely a place that gets busy, but they had a huge outdoor space, enforced social distancing and masks, and had a good ordering process for efficiency. We ordered our food and drinks and were provided a buzzer to come to the pick up area once it was ready. No indoor seating is available at this time. There were lots of bees outside, but aside from that, the location and seating was perfect. I liked how certain beer options came in half sizes so that you could try more than one. No flights were offered and I wish the half sizes were available for all the beers. I really loved the two I ordered - apricot wheat and flower power IPA. As for food, the Caesar salad was incredible! Great portion size and the flavors were excellent. I loved the tomato in there! This was once a wonderful place to spend an afternoon or evening. It has changed entirely. While meal portions have shrunken, and prices have gone up, these are the least of this establishment's problems. Customer service is at an all time low. It was my husband's birthday. He took our daughter to out to dinner here, his favorite Ithaca restaurant. The hostess mistakenly typed in his phone number incorrectly at check in; after an hour of waiting, he went to check on their table. It had been given away. These things happen, it's understandable. But the manager's response was inexcusable. He said, and I quote, "If you're going to be unhappy, you can leave." No apology, nothing. He had the chance to make a full recovery from the 1:20 min wait the restaurant ended up creating on this special evening, but instead he was petty and rude. Don't bother patronizing this establishment. It's clear they don't care about their customers, even the long time loyal ones. Addendum: A person who was also dining at the restaurant overheard the exchange and anonymously paid the bill. My husband only discovered this when he went to pay. Incredible kindness. Many thanks. Sadly, we won't dine here again. The food isn't what it used to be, and the management is just awful. They have created a culture where the customer doesn't matter. Spent a beautiful night up at the Ithaca Beer Company... We opted to sit inside (there are tables outside too) to start and got a comfy table over by the window. Our waiter was lovely and offered up samples of beers before we ordered. I decided on a Apricot Wheat Ale pretty quickly. So so good! Light beer w/ a little hint of sweetness = perfect for a warm breezy upstate kind of night. Dinner was the Smokehouse Burger - beef on an Ithaca bakery roll, green tomato relish, smoked gouda, chipotle aioli --- served with fries and 'taproom ketchup' which is SO GOOD. This ketchup tasted like a salsa and I LOVED IT. I understand this is something that maybe you wouldn't expect to see highlighted in capital letters in a brewery review but this ketchup was for real - so good. After dinner we grabbed another beer wandered the outdoor patio and was surprised to find just how big the back yard to the brewery really was. There's a ton of picnic tables, groups of Adirondack chairs, corn hole and an outdoor bar. Inside/outside - where ever you hang out - Ithaca Beer Company is an excellent spot to spend the afternoon. read more

Stopped in after being recommended. This establishment is not children friendly. We waited for host about 5 +- minutes, which is ok. No tables available and 30 minute wait. We asked to sit at the bar, 3 adults and one well behaved child. We were finishing up our 1st round. Ordered our food and sat another 10 minutes before a person came and said we had to move. Remember we have been there for almost 30 minutes. We asked why. Reason was that we had a child. New York State has no restrictions against children at bar. And the was 2:30PM in the afternoon. We had 2 restaurant personnel say it was ok to sit at the bar. We asked for the manager but was told they weren't available. We asked who he was and said he is the bus boy. Really, they sent him over. We asked to be seated in the dining room since we were being told to move. He said get the host. Again Really! We had to grab our drinks and go sit in the corner with no window or view. We were very disappointed. We will never visit or recommend this establishment to any of our friends. We are up in the Finger Lakes every month and drove 45 miles round trip for this. Happy Thanksgiving to us all. Don't waste your time and money. And also, please clean up the outside your entrance. TLDR: This establishment will not hesitate to escalate situations involving BIPOC by calling the cops. Very disappointed in the experience I had at this brewery yesterday. I needed a day to decompress and process what had happened to us so I could be able to write this. The same group of us had actually gone there the night before this happened and had a good time so we decided to come back the day after to see it in the daytime and try out their food. We placed orders outside of both food and beer for a group of 6, all of us had tipped and closed out. One of our friends had gone inside to order wine, the same bartender had served her the night before with her recently expired ID. She is 26 years old by using logic we can all figure that no one gets younger even if your id is expired. All that's happened with COVID and the DMV closures in NJ I could see how she wasn't able to take care of it before this. For some context, our group's age range was 26-29 years old, and we are all brown/Latinx with the exception of one friend who is white. He hadn't served her this time around even though he had recognized her from the night before because his manager (Mel) was nearby and said not to serve her adding that she doesn't accept expired Visas, which is racist to say being that no one was presenting a passport/visa as id, we are all US citizens with NJ state licenses. Our friend said ok and went back outside to order the wine at the outdoor stand, the bartender there served her with that same id. Once seated at the table the manager (Mel) shortly arrives to tell her she has to leave and that there is no way for her to know that, that isn't her id even though she hadn't bothered to look at it herself to come to that conclusion. We all live 3 hours away and there was no way for her to leave on her own even if we wanted to stay to eat our food and drink our beer which went untouched as we had just received them (see pictured, not included was my meal that I wasn't able to pick up from the tent). We would not be able to consume whatever we did have on the table if we had to immediately leave so we asked for all of it to be refunded so we can all leave. She agrees to give a us a refund and in the middle of the process of getting our information on what we ordered she (Mel) stops and says "Actually, I'm just going to call the cops" and walks away to make the phone call. Literally, went from 0-100, at no point in time did any of us raise our voices or threatened her in any way for her to reach this conclusion. Maybe Mel also didn't like that we were visibly annoyed but who wouldn't be? The only other people of color who were there, witnessed the whole interaction got up, threw out their food and told to us that they were never coming back and telling others as well. Shortly after, Police arrive to remove us from the premises. Mel had told them that there was an underage person drinking, when again my friend is 26, she didn't present a fake ID or someone else's, it was clearly a very legal state issued ID with her face and information on it which is why she was served the other night at the same establishment. At that point the police told us that she could have us removed from the property regardless of whether or not she was underage she could just say she doesn't want us there and have us removed and that there doesn't have to be a legal reason. It is clear to me that she simply didn't want to give us our money back and could get away with doing so because we are brown. After this experience I will not be returning to Ithaca Beer Co. or consuming any of their products and urge both white allies and BIPOC to not spend your money here, this goes to the stockists as well. There are plenty of other breweries to visit in Ithaca. Edit: I want to note that I'm pretty sure Mel is reading all of these reviews and marking them as funny anonymously. Also attached additional reviews that show that this isn't an isolated incident, and with all the "wokeness" in this town they'd know to do better. read more
