Meier's Creek Berry Man has prominent dark fruit flavors of goldenberry, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, led by huckleberry. Huckleberry is a more-tart relative of the blueberry, and is notoriously difficult to farm. There was so much fruit here that we couldn't really say it was the dominant flavor. Quite nice. Nice red hue, too. Wait ... "Berry Man"-ilow? Not sure of the intended implications. It seems to get sweeter as it warms up. I still don't get the name. Wachusett Blueberry Ale was a less-tart and more malty brew. This to us was more beer that fruit-punch. So one of liked the first, and the other liked this. Menu and beer list had a decent selection including craft beer from a few NY places and Ohio (Great Lakes Brewing) although maybe not as many local options as you might expect from the place named Ithaca Ale House considering the number of local breweries in the area. But there were still plenty of styles to chose from. Got the french dip sandwich. It was good, meat was tasty and tender. Perfect amount of au jus, I dipped every bit had has just a few drops left when done with the sandwich so there was no waste but I didn't run out. Fries were good as well. read more

Was reminded and forgot again. Had to walk distract her from her phone to get the drink. Asked about the different beers and she didn't have a clue. Drank a few porters from Great Lakes Brewing(yum) started chatting up the bartender (Danielle) who gave us info on some other places to hit, she was super nice. Right in downtown Ithaca was excited to try the food and a great location. Inside is a bit interesting -very sterile feeling. Our server Anthony was nice enough. I had the Ellicottville blood orange to start. The food was ok. Here's my issue with this restaurant they charge $5.00 for soda. I don't even think this included refills if it did we weren't told. I have been around the world and this is most I have ever paid for a soda. This is why our bill came to 87.48 for lunch. Also when they give you the pay with cash option you always feel like you are losing out, this is a first while dining out. Never have seen the pay with cash option at a restaurant only at gas stations. Would I return to this restaurant, no. We all know that soda costs pennies to sell. My family and I loved Ithaca Ale House. The service was great, menu items explained well and the suggestions made on what's popular was spot on. Food came out fast but hot to order. The hot honey pie was delicious and one of the best pizzas I've had. The wings were amazing with both the garbage sauce and the spicy gold bbq, I recommend getting the wings naked and picking a few sauces to try. The buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich puts other chicken sandwiches to shame with its size and flavors. The onion rings were nice and crispy. The fries were great as well with their house made ketchup. When you are in Ithaca I recommend hitting up Ithaca Ale House. read more

My daughter and I ate lunch here on a Saturday after visiting Ithaca College campus. We parked in public parking a few blocks away and walked to the restaurant. The space is bright and open, with a fun vibe. We were seated quickly, but that was the last thing that happened quickly. Our server, Charlie, was polite and charming and helpful, but sadly he was woefully over-worked with multiple very large parties and a number of smaller tables like ours to manage in his own. He did give us a heads up that the food might take awhile with the kitchen so backed up, so we ordered right away, but still we waited over 35 minutes for our food. The fish & chips were hot and crispy and the quality of the fish was good. The onion soup was great. The pretzel was waaaaay overpriced at $14 even though it is big, but ours was over baked and crispy and dry on one half...and it came at the same time as the food - it would have really helped us to have the pretzel to nibble on while we sat at the table for the long wait for our food. I'd give this place a try again if I were in town and I'd ask for Charlie's section again because he works hard! read more

Ithaca Ale House is ideally situated across from Ithaca Commons in downtown. The interiors are modern and spacious with plenty of tables and booths, with some outdoor patio seating out front. They take reservations via Resy, which are probably a good idea for dinner on their busier nights. We started off ordering a wood-fired cheese pizza (5/5) to share. Having had great pizza in the NJ/NY area, I was not expecting much out of a brewpub type place, but the pizza was very good with great tasting sauce and cheese, with a perfectly chewy and tasty crust. It was so good, we contemplated ordering another. For meals, we went with the big sexy chick (chicken sandwich), the cheeseburger, and falafel, with sides of fries, onion rings, and Greek fries. All 3 of the main meals were well-liked and of really high quality with the big sexy chick (5/5) being the star of the show, but both the cheeseburger (4.75/5) and falafel (4.5/5) were great as well. We weren't the biggest fan of the oregano in the Greek fries (3/5), but both the fries (4/5) and the onion rings (4/5/5) were great without any excess oil. Our service (4.5/5) from Anthony was great, as he gave us great beer recommendations and checked in us just the right amount. All in all, Ithaca Ale House was a high quality meal that we all enjoyed and worthy of one of my rare 5 star Yelp ratings for a brewpub. They may also serve the best pizza in Ithaca. read more

I am not one to write a review; however, this restaurant used to be one of my favorites here and now is one of my least. We were seated in chairs right next to both the kitchen and the place for submitting orders, which was a not great atmosphere. When ordering, the pizza comes with a sauce which I was not aware of. As someone with a severe allergy, this sauce is something I stay away from even if it is allergen-free. After recieving the food I decided that I didn't want to replace it with anything else, yet the server claimed he was unable to comp it. We had to wait around 30 minutes to speak with the owner, who was not very forgiving or nice. He claimed that since the menu states the sauce, he would normally not give a comp on the meal. Eventually, we ended up recieving a comp, but I am still dissapointed with the empathy and treatment throughout the meal from both the waiter and the owner. read more

The Ale House moved in late 2021 to its impressive new space across from the Ithaca Commons -- and the move has only solidified its standing as one of Ithaca's best, well, ale houses! While the Ale House has well over a dozen beers on tap and more in cans/bottles, don't sleep on their food, either. While the menu is slightly trimmed down these days compared to their old location, it's better curated and has a wide variety of pizzas, burgers, salads, and more. (There are vegetarian options, but admittedly a bit sparse.) One strong point: the Ale House offers a ton of different protein options -- grilled or blackened; fish or meat or falafel -- to mix in with salads. Case in point: don't sleep on the Ancho Citrus salad with blackened shrimp added in. An absolute banger. The restaurant stops serving food around 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. most nights, but bar service often continues until well past midnight and later on weekends. Went with 4 other people. The food was pretty good, but they overcooked my medium rare burger and left off the bbq sauce on the pulled pork that's comes on top of the burger. The burger on the salad that was ordered was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Not sure if they mixed ours up or what. The harvest punch mixed drink was delicious! The Long Island ice tea I had tasted like a mix of sprite and Mountain Dew with some syrup in it. Not very good. Even the basics don't land anymore. The vibe is awkward now--loud in a bad way, weird layout, and just no energy. Service is slow and inattentive, like the staff would rather be anywhere else. It's not even a fun bar hangout anymore. This used to be a go-to spot. Now it's one of those places you regret choosing before the appetizer even hits the table. Go literally anywhere else in town. After seeing a review of their "Garbage Wings" online, I thought I would like to see what they were all about. After a 2 hour drive, we spent the day in the Ithaca area at the parks, and then headed downtown I ordered the Garbage Skillet Wings. They were AMAZING. I would get a second plate to use as a cooling spot for each wing as they come bubbling and caramelizing on a skillet. A combination of all their featured sauces. A bit of a kick, but a great aftertaste. My travel partner for the day had the steak salad. She remarked that it was great. We thought the menu was fascinating, and we would like to return sometime. We arrived as they were opening for the day, and we did wait a bit for service, but once we settled in and were served the waiter was great! I enjoyed a chat about the wings with the chef.
