I came here two times now, and plan on stopping by again. Good pizzeria considering the location, it is in Ithaca of course. First time I got a chicken parm hero, and second time I got the lasagna. The hero was probably the best I've had in Ithaca. They use Ithaca Bakery bread which makes all the difference! The lasagna was a bit bland on the meat, but as you can see the cheese is definitely there. Small sized pizzeria, with about a dozen tables. Nevertheless, it feels satisfying. A solid pizza from a long established pizza restaurant in Ithaca. We placed an order for a large with 1/2 cheese and 1/2 sausage. The red sauce and crust where good. The side with cheese was chewy and had a good flavor. The side with sausage in my opinion was a bit sparse. In addition to the few pieces of sausage it had a powdery cheese type substance sprinkled across the top. I can't say if it added to it or not. It was ok. We were hungry and it satisfied our hunger. With other options in Ithaca I would choose another pizza option. read more

Sals has been an Ithaca favorite for as long as I've known. My old employer loved getting Sals every year. Fast forward to 2024 - I ordered a small cheese pizza for my spouse, it was great. I also ordered boneless garbage wings and they literally made her physically sick. Incase anyone wants to research me, I have never discarded a wing in my life, and these "wings" made me sick to my stomach a day later. By far some of the worst pizza I have had. The mozzarella was probably the worst quality and had a bizarre consistency. The pizza itself was greasy with absolutely no flavor, and pricy for what you get. The picture shows the glop of food you get for $24. Inside of the restaurante is pretty disgusting as well. This place has their shit squared away. While other restaurants are slammed because they can't handle even a quarter of their restaurant filled, Sal's cranks out high quality food quickly. They serve some decent beers and the staff is amazing. No sitting around while confused staff members argue over which table they don't have to wait on, or orders lost because of bumbling. Food comes out piping hot because they have a real oven. Not like the average restaurant nowadays that uses an Easy bake oven powered by a 40 watt lightbulb which is why it takes and hour and half to cook the food and comes to your table luke warm at best. Our favorite thick-crust style pizza in Ithaca. Ithaca does not truly have the quality of pizza you'll find in New York City or New Jersey. But we're generally happy enough with this pizza compared to most local options. Once our pizza wasn't quite done and the cheese slid around on the crust in the car (we finished it in our oven). I showed a photo to them on next visit and they gave a small discount on our next order. While not such a big issue, they have actually never once cut the pizza into anything resembling equal sized slices, which is a source of mild amusement for us every time we order. read more

Great little pizza place with delicious, cheesy, pizza. My girlfriend and I came here and immediately felt at home. We ordered at the counter but our food was delivered straight to our table, and our server checked up on us while we were eating. Pleasantly surprised by such nice, caring service. Instead the italian dressing was that horrible cheap chemical stuff that you find at the salad bar of a chineese buffet. I put my finger in the dressing and my finger indent remained after i removed it. It was a very bland pizza and had the most unflavorful sauce I've ever had. The only positive of the pizza was it's crust, which had a great texture and was nice and chewy. The crust earned them the second star. There are times when you have a pizza that you aren't too happy with, but think you'd give them another try someday. That is not the case for this joint. Since I ordered on the phone, this is a review of their delivery, not the restaurant itself. I was in the mood for pizza but had a fair amount of work to do so I decided to go for a delivery instead. There are a few places within walking distance of where I live but the reviews aren't great and I figured I could get those any time, like when I'm walking home from class. So I decided to call for a delivery from this place. I went for one of their specials, a large pizza and an order of chicken wings. Of course, I didn't intend to eat it all in one sitting, but with all the homework and football this weekend, I figured I could spread it out over several meals. The pizza ended up lasting me for five meals. Call it disgusting, but I'm a lazy grad student who didn't feel like going grocery shopping this weekend. You do get a little tired of pizza after the third one, but at least the pizza quality didn't go down with microwaving. Chicken wings were pretty tasty. I actually enjoyed them a bit more than the pizza. But I didn't get a lot of blue cheese with it and you run low by the last few wings, and to be honest they weren't that big. As for the pizza, the cheese and sauce were great and there was a good amount of both. However, I wasn't a fan of the crust, which was really tough to chew despite being delivered fresh. They said they would deliver within half an hour, but it ended up being closer to 45 minutes. Not sure if it was because the driver had difficulty finding parking near my area or if it just took them that long to get my order together. Decent pizza overall but I think next time I'll just step outside and get a pizza slice nearby instead of just ordering a crapload all at once. read more

Out first and last visit resulted in an undercooked, greasy, overly cheesed, bland pizza that was overpriced. Never again.

i've been here twice and my 2nd visit was definitely better than the first. on my first visit i ordered some buffalo wings and a large pizza that was half plain and half sausage and onion, and a sub for my lunch the next day. the wings had a good flavor but they were soggy and not crisp. the pizza had a good flavor but too much cheese, it was really really greasy. the crust had a good flavor and an ok texture, but i don't feel like it was stretched out evenly. the body of the pizza was too thin and then the crust was huge at the edges. the sauce was good but it was overpowered by the cheese and dough. the sausage was ok but nothing special in my book. the ham sub i got had a good flavor but there was very little meat on it, so i won't be ordering a sub from them again. my 2nd visit was better overall. this time i got an order of honey bbq wings and a large pizza that was half plain and half buffalo chicken. the wings had a better texture this time and the sauce was good but very familiar, it's the same sauce that pudgies and the haunt use for their honey bbq wings. as for the pizza, the dough was more evenly stretched this time and it made for a better eating experience. there wasn't as much cheese on it this time, which i was definitely thankful for, but the cheese still overpowered the sauce, especially the buffalo sauce on the chicken half. the chicken they used was a sliced up boneless skinless chicken breast, which is a nice change of pace from other places using deep fried breaded chicken fingers. overall, i would definitely rate this as one of the better pizza places in ithaca, but it does have some faults. this place is definitely better as a take out place because they don't really have a big selection of slices, and also it can be a little pricey. read more
