Amazing 8 course set of wagyu beef! This restaurant is beautiful and modern with excellent quality beef. Each table gets their own server and dedicated person to grill the meats to perfection. Service was excellent with new sets of chopsticks/cutlery brought out for each course (which honestly is a bit excessive). The beef was excellent quality, not all were Japanese A5 wagyu. Some of the cuts were American wagyu but in my opinion they were just as good. There were two different types of beef tongue which were really good. I don't typically like beef tongue but these were an excellent texture and good beefy flavor. The non-beef courses were also quite good and paired well with the other courses. Came back to Itadaki again recently, and I'm honestly torn writing this. My previous visit had completely restored my faith in this place. Our server, Nika G, was exceptional - easily one of the best servers I've had at any restaurant in Bellevue. She was attentive without hovering, knowledgeable about every cut, quick with grill changes, and genuinely made us feel taken care of from start to finish. The ambience has always been fantastic - warm lighting, modern Japanese vibe, and that high-end feel that sets it apart from other BBQ spots. That visit finally felt like the premium experience the price aims for. Unfortunately, today's experience was disappointing. The service is still strong - attentive, professional, and friendly - so I can't fault the staff. But the food quality noticeably declined compared to previous visits. The meat cuts felt downgraded, and the vegetable portions were clearly reduced. Everything was sliced much thinner than before, which affected both texture and overall satisfaction. It didn't feel like the same premium product I had come to expect. For a restaurant at this price point, consistency matters. I used to recommend Itadaki confidently as one of my favorite spots, but if the ingredient quality continues in this direction, it's hard to justify. i did a generational run for seattle restaurant week! meaning, during the dates of SRW, i almost exclusively ate at restaurants that were part of the event. sooo... to be quite honest with you, i didn't actually get to try their SRW menu. for reasons i do not understand, it was only available on wednesdays & thursdays. seattle restaurant week is only over a 13-day period -- with how itadaki yakiniku limited it further, it meant you have only 4 days out of that 13 to get the select menu. i understand that this may be considered an "upscale" place; however, that still does not tell me why they only offered the fixed menu on two days out of the week. maybe limiting it per day would make sense, but i found that very odd. i at least clarified this to my friends before we went (we chose to go on a friday), which they were okay with, but i did feel a bit disappointed. this restaurant is fairly large inside. it has a dark aesthetic with wooden slats on the wall, sort of like a combination of brutalism and minka (houses built during the edo period) architecture. the service is great, with some caveats. it's great only if you 1) have enough social battery for small talk and/or 2) it's not super busy. at itadaki, you do not cook the meal yourself as you would at other jbbq spots, it is all cooked for you by your server. i would say it'd be kinda hell-ish for an introvert or if you're hangry. thankfully, my friends and i are not those types of people, lol. was it worth it for SRW? well... i'm not really sure! like i mentioned, i didn't get to try it for SRW. i will say that the food was great -- we ended up getting wagyu, vegetables, and even a dessert. everything tasted phenomenal, but the price point is crazy. the pricing of the meat made sense, but the price of everything else did not. a vegetable platter was $18... a small portion of cold noodles was $10... yeeeah i dunno about all that. their SRW menu seemed very worth it at $65, but again it was so limited. maybe i'd revisit it specifically for restaurant week, but otherwise... it's not for me. i know it's bellevue and all, but you can find better japanese barbecue at a much better price. read more

We just had the most wonderful dinner at Itadaki yikaniku. This is a very unique place as it combines yakiniku (Japanese barbecue) with omakase concepts. They they just opened last weekend and are still in their soft opening phase taking only about 50% seating capacity. However, unlike many other soft openings we have been to, these guys were already hitting it out of the park. Every dish was wonderfully delicious, the staff very attentive, and the presentation of all the dishes was beautiful too. We went with several friends and we all felt the same way. Oh, I should also mention the restaurant decor is both very earthy and elegant at the same time. The ladies were also very impressed with the dishware, which was a combination of Japanese, Chinese and Western plates. As for the Omakase meal, it's a seasonally rotating menu consisting of eight courses. Many of the course featured various high grades of Wagyu beef from the US and Australia. I'll post the menu pages here as pictures rather than describe each dish, and you can see for yourself what we had. We loved everything and no way to pick a single favorite, so here are the top ones: the tongue toro, the chawamushi, the 8 hr chicken soup, the rib eye, the filet, the skirt steak and the velvet beef and rice. This is a long leisurely meal experience best for special occasions. Each table having an assigned lead waiter and a "cook" who does all the grilling for you. When they get fully staffed, meal time should be 2.5 to 3 hrs. Our was close to 4 hrs., as they were training as they went and not fully staffed yet (perfectly fine for a soft opening). They have large tables that seat a max of 5, and smaller tables too. We had 8 in our group, and were split across 2 large tables. (Tables cannot be pushed together, due to the pipes and wires for the table grill). I highly recommend Itadaki; easily a 5 star rating. Had an amazing experience here tonight and this is one of the rare occurrences where actually leave a review for a good experience Our server Nika was absolutely amazing. She was great at explaining the menu to us as it was our first time here, and tailored our omakase courses exactly to our preferences. I've literally never tipped more than 18% in my life (don't judge me) and I left a 20% for her because that's actually how good the service was I had heard of this restaurant when it first opened but didn't book after seeing a lot of the bad reviews on yelp about the service, but I can wholeheartedly say that whatever kinks they had to work out initially has definitely been sorted out with Every single course was amazing, especially the lobster and uni hand roll, and their beef tongue was absolutely divine. Having experienced many high-end yakiniku restaurants from Tokyo to Seattle, I found the quality of the meat here to be comparable to others--no major surprises there. However, Itadaki stands out for its pricing, and unfortunately, not in a good way. I can find the same offerings at other yakiniku spots in the Greater Seattle area for a lot less. I get it--being in Downtown Bellevue means higher prices are almost a given. But if you're willing to venture a bit farther out, you can save quite a bit, especially if you're dining with a large group. The food was solid (the tallow rice, in particular--yum!!), and the service was great, but are those enough to justify the hefty price tag? Probably not. read more

The thing that lets this place down is the food, which is a terrible thing to have to write for a restaurant review. Also, the place seems to be confused... are you a grill, a restaurant, a Japanese place, Chinese place? The good 1. The decor is the restaurant is nice. 2. The staff was friendly, although you could tell they weren't super well trained, that's not their fault. The bad 1. The food itself, as in the cooked dishes. We had two starters and they were both terrible. The duck and beef died for no good reason. Enter the duck salad or shall I say, the cilantro salad. I don't know how you can make duck flavorless, but they did it and sooo much cilantro, that was all I could taste, and I happen to like cilantro. Then enter the Waygu Tartare, with roasted COCONUT flakes. I had to double take because my eye thought it was just salt flakes on the plate, but no, it was sweet coconut. As if the sweet coconut on the waygu tartare was not enough, the meat was soaked in sweet syrupy soy sauce. i couldn't tell you what the meat tasted like. The meat texture seemed good, so it was probably a nice piece of meat before the "cook" touched it. 2. Chateaubriand - this steak was fine since it wasn't "seasoned" by the cook. It was ackward to have it fully cooked table side as a steak that thick takes a bit of time to cook, so then you are left trying to make conversation with the waiter so they don't feel bad standing around for a while. He was very nice and polite. Table-side preparation for a steak is usually for the sauce, not the whole thick steak or done more hibachi style where the chef interacts with others and prepares additional things in the meantime. 3. Giving you a bad table at the empty section (likely to calibrate staff) and not the best table you have available for the party size at the time they arrive, especially when there's a reservation. This is one of the minor details that separates good from mediocre restaurants when you start getting to a respectable price range. this table was in the corner, by the emergency exit. Frankly, we should have emergency exited and saved ourselves from this meal. read more

For a place charging over $50 per person for lunch, our dining experience was disappointing. It took nearly an hour from the first dish to the last, with food arriving two servings at a time and long gaps in between. By the time everyone was served, the rice was cold and dry. We ended up killing time while waiting, so it didn't feel like we were enjoying the meal together...more like eating in waves. We tried to avoid the awkwardness of some of us sitting there watching while others were eating. The staff explained that they were busy due to Restaurant Week and their many reservations, but with more than several empty tables around, I can only imagine how long it would take if the restaurant were literally full ... like prime dinner hours. Our group of seven was squeezed into a bench seating area clearly meant for bit less people. The table space was so limited that we had to get creative ... piling rice and kimchi onto one plate just to make room, and eventually returning our silverware to stick with chopsticks only. Overall, not the most comfortable dining experience. I wouldn't recommend this place for groups larger than four unless you enjoy feeling like you're playing Tetris with your plates. None of our meats came with accompanying salts that were listed on the normal menu. We asked for salt on the side, otherwise it would've been pretty bland. We didn't get one of our courses, two Kamameshi and a Lemon Yuzu Udon, and asked about it before dessert. Apparently, it was delivered to the wrong table and we'd have to wait another 30 minutes. We opted to not wait because it was already past 10pm. They took a small amount off the bill; we still felt a little jipped and pretty disappointed about the situation. This 3-star rating is appropriate, having missed an important component to help round out the meal and 1/5 of our menu. And the salt. We were also thirsty and didn't have water for about 20% of our meal. I expected a better experience. Opened 6 months ago. As of Feb 5, 2025- no more tasting menu. Dinner is now a la carte with half the items of tasting menu available. This place served an unbelievably delicious omakase. I can't even begin to explain the depth of flavor--truly exceptional. Honestly, it was better than the one omakase I had in Japan, and that says a lot. When you choose the omakase, you set your budget and let the chef take the reins. If you're open-minded and not overly particular, you'll have a fantastic experience. That said, if you prefer more control over your meal, they're happy to accommodate. My recent lunch at this restaurant left me genuinely disappointed. What should have been a pleasant meal with friends became an exercise in patience, confusion, and quiet frustration, with no update or apology offered unless we specifically asked for one. Meanwhile, our rice, chawanmushi, and miso soup which had been served early were completely cold by the time our meat finally arrived. Needless to say, the experience was already ruined. To be clear, the servers themselves appeared polite but overwhelmed. The underlying problem, however, appears to stem from poor management.The lack of coordination, communication, and basic service standards points to poor training and inadequate oversight. We were looking forward to the opening of this restaurant since we saw the signage go up. We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and then again for Father's Day since he loves japanese bbq. Very chic, fine dining ambience. The first time they were sold out of the Rubik's cube but we were able to get one the next time. You can't go wrong, the appetizers, the lobster tail, the rice, it was all very good. I just wish the service was a bit faster, it's hard to have 2.5 hours away from the kids with the sitter. Located on ground floor makes for a smooth approach and ampule parking right outside. Overall best sear and seasoned wagyu I've ever had and I've ate a lot of wagyu over the years. I also ordered a lobster caviar sushi bite that was a culinary experience that had a seared piece of Wagyu draped over top-talk about an enticing and palate enthralling flavor. I really had high hopes for Itadaki Yakiniku but this was a very bad first impression. I usually do not leave reviews after a first visit, as I like to see consistency and give establishments a chance to win me over or not. This experience inspired me to break from that norm and to leave a review after my first visit. The one good thing about this place is the ambiance. Modern upscale decor that has subtle Japanese/Asian touches, something one would expect in a Bellevue area restaurant. Very nice atmosphere. The service needs some work. When we first walked in for our lunch reservation there was at least a dozen people waiting. There was no host or hostess to be found and it took around 15 minutes for someone to come to the front desk to acknowledge the crowd. We were thankful that we had made reservations and I recommend it to anyone considering trying this place. Once seated, we were greeted promptly. We did not take long to decide what we wanted, as we knew about their Burger Lunch Specials. We wanted to try their Wagyu Burgers with fries because we have seen them advertised all over social media. After placing our order our server came back a few minutes later to let us know they were out of Wagyu Burgers, but all other Wagyu menu options were still available. This was frustrating and should have been enough to make us leave to come back another day, but we came with friends who were able to successfully place their orders. The items we ordered were presented well. The Wagyu Dandan Noodles were flavorful and were a decent portion. Unfortunately, the Wagyu Gyu-katsu Rice dish was unsuccessful. The Wagyu Gyu-Katsu was overdone and the rice was dry. From my experience Wagyu is normally served more on the medium rare side and contains a decent amount of pink in the center of the meat. This meat had a nice light breading but was overfried. The meat was well-done and ended up being slightly tough, which Wagyu is not meant to be. Our friends ordered seafood and veggie yakiniku options because they do not eat meat. Their meals should have come with rice, but they waited over 20 minutes for it to arrive. Once the rice did arrive, it was their beef tallow rice. The server proceeded to tell our table that they were now out of rice and they would not be charged for the beef tallow rice. How do you run out of rice in a Japanese restaurant!? Overall it was a disappointing experience that I hope was a one-off. I truly hope this business manages to be successful and becomes a staple within the Downtown Bellevue area, as so many restaurants have disappeared over recent years. I went last fall when Itadaki Yakiniku was still in their Soft Opening. Overall, I found the service too slow, which I can get over given the soft opening, but a few of the dishes were not tasty at all, even without considering its large price tag. If you look at the photos, you'll see nicely plated dishes and high quality marbled meats. Starting with the first dishes - the oyster was not bad, but the tartare dish was awful. The beef itself was ok, but the piece of bread it was on was basically a cookie, so sweet and fatty. It was like eating a dessert with raw meat on top. Next was the "Opulent Bite", a piece of seared scallops nigiri wrapped in a cooked piece of A5. Flavor and texture-wise this was not good. The fishiness of the scallop+ikura and the meatiness of the A5, as well was the coldness of the seafood and the warmth of the A5 went very poorly together. It's unfortunate because the individual components are high quality but not enough thought went into its pairing, ruining both. You then get some small bites in a chawanmushi, soup, and spring roll. Nothing to write home about. Finally we get to the core of the meal, the meats. These are tasty, and I expect it to be for $150 a person. Execution risk here is low given its A5 Yakiniku. However rice is not included to eat with the meat - we ordered some to enjoy the meat fully and was charged for it, though I expected as such and the rice is good quality. At this price I expect rice to be included. There's also the A5 dipped in an egg yolk with truffle sauce rice - this is quite good, I don't always love truffle especially if it's just thrown in somewhere without care, but it worked and was tasty. A wonderful experience! There's only the set menu of 8 wagyu beef courses was fun and delicious. The servers made the experience even better since they were very attentive and friendly. The flavors were sometimes a bit sweeter but it's Bellevue so we weren't too surprised by it. This is a special occasion place and we'd recommend it to anyone who likes beef. I've been here twice - once to celebrate my father's 70th birthday with my family for dinner and the other was this afternoon with my young son for lunch since he was on spring break and didn't have school. My experiences this afternoon for lunch with my son was possibly one of the rudest experiences I've had while dining in Bellevue. I understand this is a nice restaurant but the general vibe I got from our waiter he prefers to not serve kids. I asked for the chili butter to be left off of the waygu cheeseburger to which the waiter rudely responded "there can't be substitutions". I also ordered the burger with fries of which he misunderstood as an extra order of fries and proceeded to make remarks that it was my fault for not "reading the menu" and a remark of "well kids eat lots of fries". I'm withholding giving this place a single star since our other experiences have been great here and this one bad experience seems solely based on this one grumpy waiter. read more

This is a new restaurant in Bellevue, and i had been looking forward to our visit. From the time you walk in the door till the time you leave you know this place is special. Gorgeous set up beautiful interior and great seating booths. The concept new to this area is a Price Fixe which is all the courses are included. This restaurants serves an eight course meal with wine and cocktail pairings available. Our server team was lead by John and he had 3 others on his team. The courses all were incredibly prepared and presented. Sunday night was a little less busy so we were able to talk to each member of the team as dishes were prepared and presented. Where do I start? I'm just so happy such a great place opened in the Bellevue area. We had a great time here and already planning to come back. Food is amazing , environment is pretty , service was on point. $150 pp is reasonable for such an experience. I've been to some omakase places in the area and each time was at least $200 pp but I prefer my experience here more. Everything from the atmosphere, to the service, to the food was perfection. Celebrated our anniversary here and am so happy we chose to do it here this year. Tldr: For 150/person, service needs improvement and while some dishes were good but most were bland or did not make sense cohesively. Dimmed interior, with grill at each table, beautiful presentation -- good for date/special occasion. Seasonal rotating menu but a la carte options at lunch coming soon. Service: They just opened 4 months ago but I feel they could improve greatly with the pacing and introducing dishes (2 hour course). I couldn't hear some of the dish introductions and some had difficulty preparing some first course meats. During the 5 meats course, I felt rushed trying to finish each one as they were cooking 1-2 at a time back to back. Food: (8 course) 1. Tide & Terra * oyster fresh, not briny, clear sauce paired well * wagyu tartare - meat good but the crust was too overpowering and a little drying, it's giving artificial pastry aftertaste. 2. Scallop in A5 Wagyu & Shia Leaf * melt in mouth meat and scallop, lemony first bite that becomes pleasant savory -- paired well! 3. Trio * Chawanmushi - super soft steamed egg, good but basic taste flavor wise leaning more soy sauce & miso taste * Spring roll - spicy sauce tasted like dorito curry hotness - not good and didn't make sense on the menu * Chicken broth - light, slightly salty, herbal soup aftertaste 4. Meat course (5) Wish they had some seasonings on the side (like flaky salt) to add to taste. A lot of cuts were really bland and underwhelming for a main course. The pickled side dishes were yummy, good break from meat. * Lean beef tongue - too salty too chewy * Beef tongue - less flavor, tender chew though * Australian m9 wagyu - tender, great flavor with melt in mouth texture * Filet mignon - not a lot of flavor American wagyu ribeye - tender, paired well with butter * Australian skirt - tastes like kbbq rib galbi 6. Japanese A5 Wagyu with egg yolk & rice * good texture and egg yolk good pair * bland to me and too similar to the second dish (getting full a this point) 7. Place was Ok, seems like a downgrade from Ishoni. Ishoni is better in my opinion (quality and price) This place is pricey but not worth it. I was told the restaurant reuse the caviar tins. That explains why the lid was rusty. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. The establishment used to be a Korean bbq place now It's a Japanese restaurant. Came here for my husband's birthday. Here's the breakdown: TLDR: mid, small portioned, expensive food masked with nice ambiance. People who go here regularly probably don't know what quality Japanese bbq is. Sorry.. Ambiance: 4/5 the interior was nice and trendy. However, there was no music, so it was just the sound of people, and it felt a little awkward. I put on the reservations that it was my husband's birthday and requested a table in the nicer area, but when we were seated at first, they put us near the bar, which didn't have the nice area. After asking twice to be reseated, they moved us. Throughout the night , not all the tables in that section were taken, so I found it strange that they were so resistant at first. Also, the chairs were awkward. Value: 1/5 for what you get the value is not there. We've had our fair share of Japanese barbecue and Wagyu beef. They did not ask us how we liked our meat cooked and made it super rare. We had to ask them to just grill it a little bit more. The portions are extremely small and the quality is just not worth it. The even convinced us to do the Uni bite with the Japanese Uni versus the California Uni. We tried it and it tasted like hay. We've had our fair share of Uni before too. But this just wasn't it. The best thing we had was the sukiyaki, but it was a small tiny slice of meat with egg and truffle. Only for one person and only for one bite. Food: 3/5 mid at best Drinks: 2/5 we ordered the high balls, which are about 20 bucks each. It's just whiskey and soda. However, the drinks that came had zero carbonation. We told the server. After they came back again with replacement drinks, it was the same thing. Third time, the same thing. We were 2/3 of the way to our dinner. We still hadn't had proper drinks. I don't understand why they just couldn't check for bubbles. Seems pretty simple. Instead we ordered whiskey sours which were decent. For such a high price point and supposedly high in restaurant, extremely disappointing.
