Two Protein Bento (popcorn chicken and braised tofu)
    Mike L.

I'm happy that Lunch on the Plate has a storefront after seeing their food truck around SLU. They are located in the Asian Family Market Food Hall in the front. Everything is ordered through the self order kiosk. I like that almost every item has a picture too. All items are packaged to go but there's self seating in the food market. I ordered the two protein bento and it was almost $20. I went with popcorn chicken and braised Taiwanese tofu. The popcorn chicken was crispy and flavorful. The braised tofu had two different types of tofu. I had a bite of my friend's pork chop and it was nicely crispy with no bone. I also had a side of tomato egg and it was okay - I wish there was more tomato flavor. Overall, lunch on the plate had a good selection of different items. The bentos were good but on the pricey end. I would like to they their beef noodle soup next time.

I saw a clip about the beef noodle soup at Lunch on the Plate. I decided that this was one of the places I had to try while visiting Seattle on this trip. I am staying near Southcenter in Tukwila, so it's around a 30 minute drive to Bellevue. I arrived shortly before closing on a weekday, it was a rainy day, so the food court was fairly empty. My first impression of their storefront was it looked very bright and clean. After studying their menu boards, I walked up to the counter to ask if they accepted cash payments. The worker said yes and took my order. I wasn't too hungry, so I ordered the beef noodle soup. He suggested that I add the beef and egg, which I did. The food took around 10 min, it wasn't too long of a wait. I absolutely loved this soup, the noodles were soft and a bit chewy. The broth was spicy and had lots of depth. The beef was soft and easily broke apart with my chopsticks. I did find it a bit difficult to enjoy the soup with the provided plastic spoon, I ended up drinking it from the bowl. When I first got the bowl of soup, I was worried it wasn't going to be enough to fill me, even though I wasn't too hungry... I was wrong, it was very filling. Since my first experience went well, I was driving back from up north and decided to stop at Lunch on the Plate again and pick up take out. This time I ordered the noodles, side order of pork chop, and the spicy chicken. The worker and I were talking and I was given a bento to try also. I absolutely loved everything I tried. I don't like cilantro and the sauce for the chicken had it; but I was able to eat it without the sace and still enjoy it. The bento had their braised pork hock and tofu with vegetables, both were very flavorful. The pork hock was cooked perfectly, it held together well, but wasn't tough. There was some kind of meat served over the rice, which reminded me of a chunky pork floss, that was very good. All of the food traveled and reheated well. I met a friend today for lunch here, again. My third time in a week; I would come back more but I leave later this afternoon. My friend and I both had the beef noodle soup, and each ordered a two protein bento. I got the pork chop and popcorn chicken. The employees here are very friendly, the food is reasonably priced and very good. Their food is also consistent, which is rare.

The food was amazing. I love the atmosphere of all the different restaurants in the food court. My favorite was the Braised Pork. The flavor was spectacular. Also I love the Spicy Pepper Chicken. I'll definitely be coming back. They did an amazing job.

The pork hock was pretty good and very flavorful. I'd definitely recommend eating it with rice or another side since it's quite rich and on the salty side. The portion was a bit smaller than I expected, but ordering through the self-service kiosk was quick and efficient. It's conveniently located in the food court next to Asian Family Mart.

Lili the owner was super nice. She took the time to Explain the dish to us. They also have a food truck that is stationed most of the time @Lake Union by Amazon building. They are family owned restaurant. My favorite would have to be the Pepper Chicken & Braised Beef Noodles and you can add Tendon and other things you like. Everything was good. They are inside Asian Family Market a food court and have plenty of seats around. Must try!!!

I come here pretty often, and it's easily one of my go-to lunch spots. They offer a great variety for a smaller place, and everything I've tried has been consistently delicious. Ordering is also very convenient with their self-service tablets, which makes the whole experience quick and easy.

I got it at 75% sweet because the last new place I visited had lower sweet, but this one I could've done 50% I think. It's really too bad this spot is so far from me (I live in Bellevue)... or maybe it's a good thing because I'd get it too much. Maybe better for my health and wallet. X_x This place also serves a lot of food, actually. I ended up getting a tea and chicken combo, and the chicken was fried but not overly oily and spiced flavorfully. The meat itself also isn't too fatty, which makes me feel like I'm not making the WORST choices by eating it........ You can get you own water at the counter, and if you order for here you need to put a table number, which I found out is already on the table, not a placard you grab near the ordering tableau.

My friend was a big fan of boba tea, and I missed Taiwanese street food badly, so we just decided to try out this place. We showed up right after they opened their door. I am a low tech person, but I found their ordering kiosk was easy to use. We ordered two meals, Taiwanese sausage bento and Beef noodle soup, that came with drinks. One interesting we noticed is that each meal selection came with different drink options. When we ordered Taiwanese sausage bento, there's an option to order a drink at a cheaper price, but no old fashioned black tea, so we ordered milk tea. However, when we ordered beef noodle soup, there's no milk tea option but old fashioned black tea. We thought all the add-on drink options were the same, but they weren't. We then got milk tea and black tea from the add on options since it's much cheaper. We also ordered blood rice cake and the braised combo. There were a few tables in the store. When we were there, not too many people were there, so we just picked up a table. The food came very quickly. During the lunch time, around noon to 1 pm, the entire place was packed. After that, most people just came to pick up something and left. The food was very delicious and was authentically Taiwanese food. The blood rice cake was southern Taiwanese style. I wish they also had northern style that would wrapped with peanut powder. The braised combo was very tasty. I guess it was cooked in the sauce for a long time. The beef noodle soup was really good, and they could add picked mustards for free. My friend and I had a lot to chat, so we stayed in the store until they closed. Nobody ever tried to kick us out simply because we had stayed too long. We had a good time there, enjoying the food and the drinks. I am sure that we will come again soon.
