I'm including my original review here to highlight the downward trajectory this facility is on. Enjoy:
September 2021: These people are really great. They are really friendly and accommodating. Brie got me into a unit and back on my way lickety-split. Very clean facility. Very reasonably priced. 10/10 would recommend.
edit 4/2023: this place has gone down the shitter. Used to be the absolute best facility I'd ever been to or rented space from. Those days are long gone. Management appears to be a revolving door of see-you-next-Tuesdays, boot-lickers, and understudies for the off-off-off-off-Broadway production of 'the gang that couldn't shoot straight'.
Additionally, I've seen unprofessional behavior on a number of occasions including once when I overheard an employee refer to a family that was moving their stuff into a unit as "a casting call for the 'people of Walmart' reality show".
* somebody was definitely living in a unit across the aisle from mine for several weeks.
* without warning, they did away with their biggest selling point, 24-hour access.
* the carts are full-on broken. Hopelessly and irredeemably broken. (Maybe there's an analogy here)
* gate codes work sporadically at best.
* customer service is abysmal. Though to be fair to them, it is exactly what you would expect from this bunch of nincompoops. They really do make you wonder what hilarity and deviousness would have ensued if Barney Fife, Randall from the cartoon Recess, and the lizard from monsters Inc all worked together in an industrial park in El Dorado Hills. I think the lizards name was something stupid like 'Reggie'. Yuck. Nobody likes a Reggie. Nobody likes these people either.
* after they switched to closing at 10, I tried to leave through the gate at 10:04 only to discover that my code had been disabled and I was trapped in the facility. So I called the sheriff and eventually they called the fire department and in the end I was liberated from my self-storage prison. I wonder if the fire marshal knows they have manually disabled the only means of egress available to anyone on the inside of that facility. (Additional edit: the fire marshal did not know. After I told him about it, he went to investigate. After which, he called me to tell me that he was none-too-pleased with the many code violations he discovered when he inspected the facility. So. . . you're welcome, everybody.)
These guys are terrible. Just incredibly unpleasant people. I would describe their attitudes as somewhere between annoyed indifference and sneering contempt. They were unresponsive to my needs as a customer and completely unappreciative of my business.
Bonus story: One of the roll up doors to my unit malfunctioned and wouldn't roll up. Six months after reporting this to management, I had my buddy come out and fix it for me. Not so much as a thank you from these chuckleheads. Think I got a break on my rent, despite having half the access to my unit? Ha! Not on your life. I had to make about 35 calls to the regional/district/area/ whatever-the-hell-he-calls-himself manager Daniel before that jackaloon could be bothered to call me back. When he did, he acted annoyed that I would be contacting him. Like he was gobsmacked that i, a lowly paying customer, would have the temerity to reach out telephonically to Mount Olympus and disturb his leisure pursuits. He told me that I needed to bring this to the attention of management on-site. I was like, "well dadgummit, Dan - that's a capital idea. I sure wish I'd thought to do that before I called you 35 times over the course of two months. Would have saved me a hell of a lot of time, not to mention, I might not have developed carpal tunnel from all the dialing."
Obviously, I'd already talked to management on-site, Dan. That bunch of crackerjack, mini-storage commandos are who gave me your number in the first place. So thanks for that suggestion, slick. It's no mystery how you ascended to your lofty position in middle management. read more
