I was contacted a day before telling me they were low on those trucks and if we would take a 26ft truck instead free of charge, I agreed to that. I picked up the truck today (9/11) and from the moment of picking up this truck has been nothing but inconvenience. Sharon helped us with the paperwork and was completely rude, went to start the truck and it showed empty. We had Sharon fill the truck up more considering it's required by the company to put 1/4 of gas in there, when she put more gas in (5 gallons) it was assumed the gas gauge was broken. As we were driving off and onto the freeway, we noticed the hood was flapping more than it should have. Immediately got on the side of the freeway and noticed the hood wasn't latch AT ALL!! I called road side assistance regarding the gauge issue since we are traveling up the mountain we want to make sure how much gas was actually in the car. A technician comes out a few hours later and immediately the technician told us this truck was siphoned as the cap connection was popped off and clear as day there was no gas in the truck...the tank was COMPLETELY empty. Now we are having to spend more money BEFORE we even drive up the hill when we already spent $400+ on this rental. I called the location back to make sure they corrected my contract to show I'm not filling up this truck when we got completely empty and hope to get a refund on this reservation of some sort. Spoke to Katie who was completely rude from the jump when I was trying to get confirmation on all this stating "we already told roadside assistance this was updated and you can drop it off at empty". This has been the WORST experience of U-Haul before we even finish the damn trip. I have never had an issue with any other U-Haul locations and it's clear as day this location doesn't even bother to do what their contract and policy shows....which is checking the trucks before the customer gets their trucks and very worrisome. Never again will I get a truck from here nor would I ever recommend this location. Their customer service reps should not be working there if they aren't willing to go the extra mile after THEY MESS UP.

I had a reservation for a 26-foot moving truck and an auto transport trailer with a scheduled pickup time of 7:30 a.m. Despite arriving on time, I stood at the front of the line for 45 minutes before a single employee acknowledged me. During that time, one employee repeatedly walked back and forth from the office sipping her coffee while clearly seeing a line of customers waiting to be helped. By the time someone finally assisted me, there were approximately seven customers lined up behind me. Considering the store opened at 7:00 a.m., this level of service is unacceptable. The first truck I was assigned was completely out of fuel. After I complained, I was assigned a second truck that was also completely empty. Only after insisting did they provide a truck with a half tank of gas, but I had to walk all the way to their overflow lot behind the property to retrieve it myself. After driving the truck back to the front, they attempted to assign me an auto transport trailer that was missing the primary steel bracket for the trailer jack. This wasn't a cosmetic issue. The entire mechanism was incomplete, with a roughly one-foot steel component and its mounting hardware missing. The only reason it was caught was because the employee couldn't raise the trailer, giving me time to compare it to another trailer and realize major parts were missing. They then directed me to a second trailer, which was also missing a large structural bolt. I was actually told it "should be fine because the bolt on the opposite side would probably hold everything together." That is an astonishing response when dealing with equipment designed to tow thousands of pounds at freeway speeds. Once I settled for the trailer with the missing bolt, I was completely on my own. The employee could not show me how to properly secure my car because he did not know how. No one helped verify the tie-downs. I had to grab someone to help me verify the trailer's brake lights worked. And no one performed what I would consider even the most basic safety checks before sending me on my way. In total, I was there for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Those delays had real consequences. I arrived 30 minutes late to my scheduled Moving Help appointment, meaning I paid for three hours but only received two and a half hours. The delay also pushed back my entire move to Central California, causing me to arrive late to my second Moving Help appointment later that day. I want to be clear that I don't blame the employee who ultimately helped me. He was polite, doing his best, and was clearly placed in a situation without the training or support necessary to succeed. The responsibility falls squarely on management. Sara Thorn, employee #706046, as General Manager, you should be ashamed! This facility reflects your leadership. Customers should not have to inspect your equipment for missing structural components, argue for a truck with fuel, retrieve their own truck from an overflow lot, or teach themselves how to safely load a vehicle onto an auto transport because your staff has never been trained. These are not minor inconveniences. They are serious safety issues. The lack of equipment inspections, maintenance, employee training, and overall management at this location is alarming. It's only a matter of time before defective equipment or inadequate instruction results in someone getting killed. The fact that you haven't been sued or fired is beyond me. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

We flew in from out of state early in the morning & had a reservation for 9am for a 26' u-haul. Our storage we were going to empty out was just a block away. The reason for renting at this location. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! We arrived a bit early and were advised that the person in charge of renting out the u-Hauls would not be in until 9. Fair enough, we left & went to the storage unit to get started & returned at 9. The guy was not there & no one else could help us out. So we waited & waited & waited & waited some more. Still he never showed up. We had hired help for just a couple hours to help us get started loading the heavy stuff. Time was ticking and money was being wasted & still no show!! FFS!!! Long story short, kinda!!! The guy never showed up & almost an hour after the reservation time had passed, my husband was connected with the guy on the phone wherever he was to do the transaction. Which was shady as my husband had to give this "guy" his personal details over the phone which we had already did online. After finally getting keys, the truck had 1 freaking gallon of gas in it, just 1. Couldn't even make it down the road. I've never ever had this happen. Oh and the state of the truck was disgusting. Like they took it in & never looked inside. It was dirty for being a newer truck & there was something gross in a bottle in the glove box.. **** done not rent here**** I could go on, but I'm not.... Stay away, be warned!!!!!!
