It's in the worse possible location. Trying to get in or out between 2pm and 6pm is a nightmare. Their prices are higher than most competitors in the area. When I moved out they charged the rent a few days beforehand, but refused to prorate and refund the remaining. Stay away like it's the plague!!!

I immediately brought this to the attention of the staff on site. I THOUGHT they would be concerned and appreciative, not only for THEIR customers, but also for their own safety. The response I received was "Did that bother you?!" I was so shocked and taken aback. Of COURSE a group of loitering sketchy people are of concern! ANYWHERE! Hello?!?! Why wouldn't they INQUIRE as to the reason this group was "hanging out" on their property? Maybe they were friends of the office people? Regardless, the staff turning my concern onto ME spoke volumes. If you are looking for a SAFE unit for your property...and YOURSELF whilst you are attempting to "visit" your unit, "EXTRA SPACE STORAGE" on Parkshore Drive in Folsom is NOT THE PLACE! I am quickly moving my items OUT to another place that actually cares about the safety concerns of their customers. I hope the OWNERS see this review, as their on-site "management" clearly needs to be replaced. As a female visiting alone today, I was (and still AM) definitely concerned about the RUDE and unprofessional response that I received. In May 2023, I received a notice that my rent was increasing to $238 per month, a 51% increase! I called the manager, David, to inquire about the increase. He said that they routinely review market rents and have the ability to reset them at any time to reflect inflation. I asked him if inflation had gone up 51% in the past 5 months and he said yes. I then went on their website and saw that they had units available for less than the $158 per month rate I was paying. After asking about switching units, David said that we could not switch to one of those units because that pricing was reserved for new customers only. He also noted that those units would almost surely see a huge price increase within just a few months of moving in. This seems like the definition of a bait and switch tactic. They lured me in with a low price, then jacked up the rent after I signed the contract. And nowhere in the contract did it say anything about us getting a promotional rate that would reset after just a few months. I decided to move out of Extra Space Storage after the price increase. The move out was a lot of work, wasted time, and headache. But we weren't going to pay $238 per month, and we also were not going to stay just based on principle. I hope others can learn from my bad experience.

She answered my questions and communicated very well in person and over the phone. Entry and exit are one way, so they have an arrow leading you in the right direction. You need to download and use their app for entry and exit, plus for entry into the storage building. The app is pretty easy to use as long as you're in the appropriate range. The price of the units are cheaper than the surrounding area, and they had more available at the time. They also offered a deal when renting a new unit. *I've used Public Storage a few times at multiple locations and the quality and service are consistent.

Fortunately, Sierra from corporate reached out after I raised concerns. They were very kind, professional, and apologetic, and helped us mediate the issue. That effort and understanding meant a lot and helped turn the situation around. I hope the company can kind John a different role that does not require him to interact with customers.

There had a rat infestation aND ALLL OF MY expensive clothing and shoes/heels/boots were Ruined. I had a Louis Vuitton bag in there that got ruined as well. These rats peed and pooped And left dander ALL OVER MY BELONGINGS WITH some sort of dust OR DANDER over every Single thing i own. I live in FLORIDA so i came back just to close my storage unit without knowing all of my thousands or dollars Worth of clothing was ruined (even some louboutins and Louis Vuitton's !!" A It was Thanksgiving week and I only had one day to execute the closing of the storage. We were going to take everything and sell it or take it home... But instead, everything was ruined and needed to be destroyed.. we had a car only with her dog in it, and we could not put all the items in our car because they were contaminated with urine and feces of rays. It was absolutely traumatizing and disgusting . The only help we got was Josh telling us that there was nothing they could do and that our unit needed cleaned out and brushed with a broom clean, even though all the shit poop piss and dander was from the disgusting rats that had invaded . Dirty units unhelpful people would never ever ever recommend although Josh is nice. I'm sure there's just limits to what he can do.

The manager Anthony busts his rear to keep the place clean, and take care of the renters. One time on a Sunday around6am, I went to see if they were open cause I needed to pick up some stuff, and there was Anthony, cleaning trash up on the site...on a Sunday, early morning. Gotta love it. Plus, if there is a problem they take care of it right away. This is just my experience, but if you ask me, this is the best experience I have had with any storage facility in many years and many different places.
