Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain is a restored 1920s apothecary-turned-classic-soda-fountain…read morelocated in Carroll Gardens. Opened in May 2010 by siblings Peter "Petey" Freeman and Gia Giasullo (with the renovation famously featured on the reality show Construction Intervention), the shop revived the former Longo's Pharmacy space, preserving its original wooden medicine drawers, pressed-tin ceilings, and penny-tile floors. Using their exact menu preparations, all sundaes and milkshakes are proudly scooped using locally sourced ice cream from Adirondack Creamery: Egg Cream: A traditional, vintage New York soda fountain beverage made without eggs or cream--consisting of ice-cold Fox's U-Bet chocolate syrup (or vanilla), whole milk, and seltzer, whipped up froth-topped at the counter. Sundaes: Multi-scoop signature builds built on rich Adirondack Creamery ice cream, including popular favorites like the Mr. Potato Head (vanilla ice cream, peanut butter, warm caramel, and salted potato chips) and Sundae School (classic hot fudge with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry). Milkshakes & Malts: Hand-scooped Adirondack Creamery ice cream blended thick with whole milk, available in traditional standard flavors or served as a malted shake. Warm Biscuits & Savory Options: Beyond ice cream, the counter serves baked goods like house-made warm biscuits with butter and jam, alongside light café items like grilled cheese. Service is friendly, nostalgic, and quick at the counter. It remains a standout destination for classic ice cream treats and historic Brooklyn soda fountain culture.

Anyway, I was in Brooklyn with my brother to see a concert and had just finished dinner. We had some time before doors opened so we decided to grab a little ice cream before heading over to the venue. Farmacy was steps away - it all seemed like it was meant to be, so off we went. Farmacy aims to capture the nostalgia of an old fashioned soda shop and ice cream parlor. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted by aesthetics - the tile, fixtures, and decor totally give off that vibe. There are a few tables to sit as well as a large bar area with stools; I also noticed a few tables set up outside as well. The traffic flow is set up so that you order first and then have it served to you after sitting. Browsing the menu, I noticed they have a selection of ice cream scoops, shakes, egg creams, specialty sodas, hot chocolates, and a large variety of sundae creations. Since we were there for ice cream, we decided to split a sundae -specifically the Sir Twix-a-Lot. This was chunks for shortcake tossed in caramel and topped with vanilla ice cream that was coated in a chocolate shell. Overall I thought the sundae was solid - but the combinations of textures weren't my favorite to be honest, mostly with how the shortcake played with the ice cream. It wasn't bad though - the flavors definitely gave the Twix aesthetic. My only other issue with the dish was that because chocolate shell was used, any residue at the bottom was hard so you have to chisel it if you want to savor any last spoonfuls; I guess that comes with the territory. Service was good - everyone was friendly. It wasn't too busy when we were there so we had our selection of seats and our ice cream was ready pretty quickly. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried Brooklyn Farmacy out - they have a large selection so I would definitely return when I'm in the area again.

In one word: incredible!…read more We enjoyed the friendly arrival to the elevator, and then up to the top floor for a great view, We have eaten all over the world and everyone in our party found the food just delicious! We enjoyed the unique way the restaurant made the small condiments available--highlights were the Persian cucumbers, fresh hummus and olive oil with I believe was a potato dish. We tried a number of grilled meats which were all tender and absolutely cooked to perfection. I also noticed a few grilled vegetable dishes which would be perfect for my daughter since she is Vegan! Thank you again for a great experience!

Before the main even arrives you're already happy! The pickled vegetables, baba ganoush, cabbage salad and olives kept things exciting from the start. The Steak Shishlik was the real moment though, beautifully charred, tender and served on a metal platter with pickled red onions and sumac tahini. Just really solid, satisfying dish. Drinks were a vibe too. The Pomegranate Cosmo was deep pink, orchid-topped and delicious. The Hot Crush brought a bright kiwi flavor with just enough spice to keep it interesting. And the Brown Sugar Soft Serve with halva oat crumble to finish? Light, a little crunchy and the perfect ending.

Seating space (not a lot of it, so I imagine it can get packed on busy times) and bathrooms on premises. Hot chocolate was delicious. We got the spiced dark chocolate and the spices were overwhelming. Get dark chocolate without spices. The extra dollar for marshmallow made the chocolate even sweeter, so it was overwhelming and I wouldn't recommend. But. The extra dollar for whipped cream would be nice because the their homemade whipped cream isn't sweet, so it will just thicken up the drink and give you that extra texture oooomph that you'll appreciate. Torino cafe is basically coffee added to any hot chocolate of your choice. That was tasty with dark chocolate. You definitely tasted the coffee and it was less thick than regular hot chocolate (which was on a thinner, sippier side). You can sample ice cream to make your selection. It's all very sweet, so if you're looking for a less sweet option go with Belgian dark chocolate flavor. For a $18 banana split you get three scoops of ice cream and a caramelized banana. Not a big portion for such hefty price. The tiny addition of toppings didn't make this banana split come together into a cohesive dish. Would get something else next time. Definitely not a good deal. Young lovely girls at the cashier were super friendly and accommodating. The not so young gentleman with a mustache who brought our order to the table was very dismissive and rude when we asked him to please bring us a correct order (he carried multiple orders and was harried to be done delivering them and barked something incoherent at us when we asked for help).
