I am not very frequently a sweet for breakfast kind of person, but occassionally the mood strikes and occassionally i also could use an Acai bowl that can be refreshing, nourishing, tasty, and just fun to eat and look at. And after the weekend I had, i was all for the idea when it was suggested, so I ended up at Island Bodega, that i was informed went a little viral within some social media circles. On the surface, everything about it feels pretty standard for Acai places; the aesthic, decor, layout, design etc. And honestly most of it was great, no complaints, a nice place to pickup some breakfast, sit down to eat, or anything else. And with a decent amount of options for additions, I actually really liked the ingredients they had. I ended up going with a small of their Island bowl, which is an unusual portion size for me to order cause i usually can put it away but im glad i did. The bowl was absolutely delicious, and with the added goji berries and packed up to the brim in its cup, and by the time i ate my way to the bottom, i was more than content . ------------------------ My Order: ------------------------ Island Bowl - Small ($11) - 9/10

I always forget about this place but it's really good and always busy. I like to customize my bowls, but they have a lot of menu items that your can simply choose off off. I like that they offer various base options beyond açaí. Overall very solid spot and love that it's close to me!

I was craving a healthy breakfast, so my husband decided to get acai from here. We ordered via third party app. The app was very easy to place an order. It's just like ordering at the actual place. I ordered a custom & coffee. First you choose the size of your bowl, then your latte, iced or cold, and milk selection for your drink. Then you get to customizing your acai bowl. First you choose your base, then granolas, chia seed pudding, fruits, toppings, nut butters/ sweeteners, and lastly powders. Then you get to the section if you want to order/ add extras. Thry also have pre-made bowls. It shows what's in the bowl and if you want to omit or add anything. My husband got the island bowl. I would definitely try this place out again. We were very happy and satisfied.

Island Bodega is such a cute spot! We ordered the strawberry smoothie and it was 8/10. The space is super cute and has a really relaxed vibe, so you could definitely come by, grab something, and hang out for a while. They also have açaí bowls that looked really good, although we didn't get a chance to try them this time. The workers were also really nice and welcoming. Definitely a spot we'd come back to!

First time here and I can see why the line is so long at 9:30pm! I was craving an açaí bowl and of course at 9pm all places are closed. Thank you Yelp for leading me to this little popular gem! They have a wide selection of bowls with so many ingredients to chose from. They have 3 friendly workers asking what ingredients you want, each at a different station of items, like base, fruits and dry toppings. Anything can be customized around the bowl you chose from their menu or make one of your own. The ambiance is totally chill but with only 3 tables be ready to take it to go if there's no room. They do have a lot of free standing chairs to hang around in as well. Glad I was able to satisfy my sweet tooth tonight with a healthy option. I'll be back!

Love how much we can customize our bowls. Fruits and granolas are always so fresh here :) :)

One of my favorite acai spots in Long Beach! The bowls are always fresh, delicious, and satisfying. Some of my fav topics are pumpkin seeds and almond slices for a healthy crunch (skip or go light on granola). I love kiwis and not very many acai shops offer it. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming. Definitely a go-to whenever I'm craving a good acai.

Ask the Community - Island Bodega

Is the Pitaya base made of pure fruit or does it have sweetener or other juice/fruit mix added?

Hi what can be made with No sugar?

I don't think they offer anything sugar free

Is the granola gluten free?

No, all of our granolas contain gluten.

Do you do points? This place do points with CashApp I wished one of the worker had told me soon been coming here a few times already and could of earned at least 36 -45 points by now.

on the screen it's before you pay where it says "sign up/see rewards" on the right in blue and also after the receipt option!

Is coconut cream still offered as a base?

I was just in there & they mentioned it runs out fast. They had another flavor sold out that day too. 😩

Is this place authentically Brazilian?

No, it is not

Do they have vegan options?

I think most of their bases are vegan and they have agave as a topping. As for the granola, asl which one has honey/egg whites etc

What food delivery service do they work with?

Grubhub, Doordash, Postmates, and Ubereats

I came around 1:30pm on a Saturday, and thankfully we were able to snag a seat right after we ordered. By that time, a lot of their savory pastries had run out-most of what was left were things like cookies and plain scones. They also have a refrigerated display case with things like cakes and basque cheesecake if that's up your alley. I ordered their cinnamon double matcha off their seasonal menu. It was a matcha latte topped with cinnamon cream, and I got it half sweet. The drink was delicious! I never really thought to combine matcha and cinnamon, but this flavor pairing worked surprisingly well. Their cinnamon cream was balanced in sweetness and spice. The matcha latte itself had a good matcha powder to milk ratio. It wasn't the strongest matcha I've had, but it also didn't taste like mostly milk, either. When the cafe is full, it gets pretty loud, and the sounds reverberate throughout the small space. However, it's pretty chill when there's less people. Service is also fast. I love that there's also a restroom across the back hall. I'm curious about their pastries and other menu items. I saw that the owner makes a lot of the syrups in-house, so I'd imagine it's also delicious! I'll definitely be back.

That comment felt unnecessary and accusatory, especially since I've had this exact modification made here before with no issue. If an add-on is no longer allowed it should be removed instead they attempted to upcharge me and tell me I can't add the purée even though it's listed as an add on the same way the cream top is...ave then the employees proceeded laugh a stifled laugh. Needless to say I'm disappointed in the service and regardless of how much I previously loved Cafe Fever and had it ranked at #1 it's now become a bit scammy with bad service and will no longer be going.

I also regularly buy beans from some of the best specialty coffee roasters around the country. Personally, I believe high-quality coffee, matcha, and tea should be appreciated for their natural flavors. If you need syrups and other add-ins to enjoy your drink, you're probably more of a fan of fun coffee drinks than a coffee purist. Nothing wrong with that, but there's a difference! I first discovered this place after a coffee aficionado posted about it on Instagram. The post somehow found its way into my feed, and I had to check out their Hollywood location. Their pour-over prices were a little steep, so I opted for a cortado instead. Today, I decided to visit their Artesia location to compare the experience. I was particularly intrigued by their selection of beans from Tanat, a specialty coffee roaster from Paris. At $9 for a cup, I hesitated before taking the plunge. However, it was described as a fruit-forward coffee, and I'm a big fan of the tea-like, fruit-forward characteristics often found in Yirgacheffe coffees. This coffee was genuinely interesting. The aroma was wonderfully sweet, with notes of berries. It was the kind of coffee experience meant to be savored slowly at the shop, not gulped down in the car between errands. I ordered an Americano because I didn't want milk masking the flavors of this $9 cup. I wanted to experience the coffee itself. Now, for my one major complaint: THE MUSIC. It was ridiculously loud '90s pop. All I remember is *NSYNC blasting through the shop. I've visited plenty of specialty coffee shops, but I can't recall another one playing this kind of bubblegum pop at such a volume. It completely clashed with the atmosphere I would expect from a specialty coffee shop. Not exactly the soundtrack for savoring a carefully prepared $9 cup of coffee! Aside from the unfortunate music selection, this place has something for everyone: thoughtfully selected coffees that can please serious coffee enthusiasts, as well as creative, fun drinks for those who prefer their coffee and matcha with a little more flair. One practical warning: parking in the shopping center lot is terrible. I was fortunate enough to find a spot on the street. Bottom line: Come for the interesting specialty coffee, stay for the experience, but perhaps bring your own playlist and headphones.

I typically do add a few modifications to my coffee order at different spots, as I don't like it too sweet. And I like to taste the actual coffee. Every coffee drink that I have gotten at Ondo has needed little to 0 modifications as it genuinely is a perfect cup of Joe! I highly recommend Ondo, everything that I've tried has been great!

It was so underwhelming and unseasoned I genuinely sat there confused, like... is this a prank? Did somebody forget salt exists? My honey ordered the smash burger and it was also underseasoned and overcooked. A sad little double feature of disappointment. Service matched the food. Once they dropped the plates, they ghosted. Never table-touched, never checked in. They could literally see the looks on our faces and still kept walking by like we were invisible. We ended up throwing most of it away. I only took the egg and those sad, unseasoned potatoes home so I could try to rescue them myself. The bacon? Delicious. Absolute legend. Everything else tasted like it was cooked by someone who's never met a spice rack. To the owner: please, for the love of brunch, go find the seasoning. It's out there somewhere. We believe in you.
