Hands down order the Short Ribs. Definitely in my top 10. Great staff with a nice atmosphere!!

My mom and maid of honor threw my bridal shower at IWT this past weekend. Everything was amazing! The food was great, the staff was attentive and super helpful. My guests always had a full mimosa in their hand and never had an empty glass or dish in front of them! Everything went on without a hitch and I'm so so thankful to have had such an awesome venue for an awesome day! read more

Sat at the bar. Not many people, bartender was sparse. Ordered a couple apps. Meh. Much better places around.

I went here for my 2nd time this week. The first time was a Sat Night. Great entertainment, a special Man n cheese with butternut squash....absolutely delicious! Went this past Tues night and had a totally different experience. Ordered caesar salad to start. It was so dry , it seemed like they forgot to put the dressing on. I told our server and she brought a side of dressing for me. To my surprise she charged me .50 for a side of dressing. Really??? Such bad customer service. I ordered the mac n cheese as my entree. It was nothing like I remembered. Watery and Bland! I added lots of salt and pepper but it didn't help. What a disappointing experience! read more

My husband and I went there yesterday hoping to have dinner. Since it was a "holiday" we were hoping to get the dinner menu. Alas we couldn't because it was only 2:30 and they start dinner at 4:00 PRO: 1/2 price wine. My husband's French Dip was good for him CON: I got the lobster mac and cheese which came out 10 minutes after my husband's. I have to say that it was loaded with lobster (yay) however there was no creamy sauce for the Mac and Cheese. It had separated into butter and curdle - similar to when you reheat Alfredo leftovers in the microwave. (Not advised) I told the waitress about it and she seemed a bit disturbed by my comments ( I even said the positive comments (lots of lobster) but had to tell the about the lack of a creamy sauce. They gave me a free dessert. (yay) but the charged me $24 for the entrée, even though it was only $16!! My husband wouldn't let me complain again, so I guess my dessert was paid for after all :-( I will probably go back for the 1/2 price wines at some point but the place left a bad after taste ... read more

My two friends and I dined there this past Saturday night. Unfortunately, I will never return. We were rushed through the whole process. The food was overpriced, and just mediocre, although the atmosphere was very warm and cozy. Service was lackluster at best as the waiter acted as if we were a bother to him. We were never asked if we wanted appetizers or salad, never told about any specials (maybe they don't offer specials). We had to ask for a dessert menu and coffee. Shortly after paying the bill, along with a very generous tip and still finishing our drinks, we were unceremoniously asked if we could leave because they had another reservation waiting. It was not until the waiter saw the look of complete surprise and disbelief that he then mumbled "I can find you another table". We were there about an hour and a half. The table next to us (larger group) was there before us and remained at their table. Now I could see if we were a group of young rowdy kinds causing a commotion, however, that is not the case. I have worked in the food/service industry over the years and I frequent many fine restaurants. I do understand reservations and being busy. But you don't rudely ask your customers to leave so that you can get the next party seated, served and out the door. read more

My newest discovery! Excellent atmosphere and wonderful homage paid to the iron workers that once toiled there. Excellent martini from bartender Kenny. My wife and I shared some half-priced appetizers and the Six for Six oysters were an incredible bargain (note to kitchen...always provide a few Saltine's). I will be back for dinner. read more

Nice place with interesting history. Atmosphere is good. Service is good. Chowder was very good but their bowl portion size was about the size of a typical cup of soup. Tried their self described amazing Mac and cheese. Again the portion was very small. Pasta was undercooked, it was served luke warm and the cheese sauce was pretty tasteless. I think this place is popular with business travelers and people heading out of the airport on vacation. Considering their portion size it is also a costly place. Good place if you are not hungry and have money to burn. read more

I just hosted my daughter's bridal shower upstairs at Iron Works Tavern. From the moment I met with Dennis the Event Specialist, I was put at ease for my event. He stayed in contact with me the whole time. He was always available to answer any questions. On the day of the event Erica was appointed as my event coordinator. She was amazing. She went above and beyond for me. She was friendly, outgoing and on top of all facets of the event. The bartender for the day was very attentive, sweet and gave great service to my attendees. The food was amazing I had the brunch menu with the Banana's Foster French Toast and everyone raved about the french toast and all the other food options that I choose for the brunch. They also allowed me to mix up my menu which I appreciated. Thank you for a great experience and amazing day. My daughter was truly happy with her bridal shower and we owe it all to you guys. I will be in soon for dinner. Jackie R. read more

You should be embarrassed. I ordered the chix pesto pizza for $15. Yes that is right, $15 and it was the size of a small pizza at any pizza parlor. It had about 8 bite sized and extremely dry pieces of chicken. There was about a teaspoon of pesto sauce drizzled on the pizza. The rest was cheese. Seriously, how much does it cost a business to make a pizza.....$2, $3 tops? This was a pure embarrassment to charge me $15 for a 10" piece of cardboard w/ cheese & 8 morsels of chicken. 1 & done at this place! read more

I had the Lobster roll, which was delicious - a lot of meat and not too much mayonnaise. It''s a good size, not tiny at all. Great Maple Old-fashioned is also a good cocktail if you like your OFs sweet. Recommended! read more

Horrible bar service! I was traveling on business so I sat at the bar because I was eating alone. There were three bartenders behind the small bar at all times and everyone around me had to beg for their attention, flagging them down, waving their arms, etc. I don't think it was that they ignored all of us but rather they were completely oblivious to their poor service and lack of attention to the patrons. The food was very good, but I will not go back because the service was so terrible. I would have given them a pass or cut them some slack if the restaurant had been super busy and the bartenders were running around, but all three bartenders were socializing with each other and chit-chatting with the hostess while we all tried to wave them down and order drinks and food, request our bills, etc. Really unfortunate because the food was rather good. read more

I've been to Iron Works Tavern many, many times, and am surprised that I never thought to Yelp about it til now. We first went there for dinners - a couple of times - and there was always a problem: they lost our reservation, they were too full to seat us even with a reservation problems with the waiters, problems with the food. But that was DINNER. I have also been there many times for lunch with a friend who is fond of IWT.. Strangely, at lunch time the service has been impeccable each and every time. The food has always been fresh and cooked perfectly to order. The food has always been delicious. And I recently learned that they are happy to accommodate a gluten-free diet. The drinks were poured generously and the waitress could not have been more friendly, polite and efficient (not so at dinner). Does this restaurant have a split personality? I simply do not know. I am supposing that the hotel attached is frequently filled on weekends, and the restaurant, consequently, is frequently overloaded on weekend nights, when I have always gone there. At lunchtime, the restaurant has a nice compliment of folks, but the place is not going bonkers trying to seat all the people, those who have reservations, and those who have not. So perhaps this is the issue. I will continue to go to IWT for lunch (when the food is CONSIDERABLY less expensive and a far better quality, and not so much on Saturday night, at least with my husband, who no longer wishes to dine there. I left off a start for our not so great Sat evening experiences (x2) and the other four for the great lunches. read more

Our group and I were in Warwick for a wedding and were looking to get a quick bite before a night of festivities. We were greeted by the manager and co manager upon entry and they were able to sit us at a table for a party of seven. We had a very amicable waiter and he took our drink orders right away. We were maybe there for about 10 min and amidst our conversation, the head manager came up to one of our friends and told him to watch his language because there were children around. Our group of friends are very respectable and make sure to watch our demeanor especially around the youth. I myself was a former restaurant manager and am very observant of my surroundings whether it'd be business or my friends. The statement by the manager threw us off and we wracked our brains over the conversations we were having to the point where we were curious if we really said anything profane. We believe they misheard us because we had used the word plucked in conversation and misheard it for another word. I know this sounds like a petty complaint, but this was our first 10 minutes in town and we were out to celebrate a friends wedding and already getting a "talking to" for our demeanor in a restaurant that's A TAVERN. As a former restaurant manager, I would have approached this situation differently without assuming the worst. It ultimately put our group in a negative state and we left after the first round of drinks. Our waiter did not deserve to lose this business, but unfortunately due to the managers poor assumption, he did. My ultimate statement in this review is, if you are going to name your restaurant a Tavern, you should be in the know that the public will anticipate that establishment to be more of a bar friendly location. read more

Was staying at the Residence Inn nearby. Food good., Beer selection OK. Noise level was pretty high thus the lower score. We had very courteous and professional service from the hostess right away. It was a Monday around 6:30 PM. We had no reservation and she was able to sit us in under her estimate of 20 min - I think it was about 10 min., We waited in a lounge area and she wrote down the tap selections and offered to take our drink order while we waited - wow! So nice to have a place to wait and have drinks. By the time she was free again to take our order after giving us the list of taps, we were seated. Jamie K was our server and she was terrific. Courteous, professional, and very pleasant and energetic. She was very efficient, attentive and working hard. She even swapped a beer someone really couldn't drink (Narragansett). The Cloud Porter was very tasty with nice coffee flavor. The Dogfish and Harpoon got likes too at the table. I hate hops so don't ask me about IPA's. As for the meals the steak (don't remember dish name) was HUGE and well liked - cooked right. The chicken gorgonzola was delicious - not too rich and thick and nice flavor. Clam chowder and steak fritata salad also got thumbs ups. I would go back. One suggestion is to increase and improve the tap beers. I expect a bigger tap selection in a tavern. Nice historical but tasteful decor. read more

stopped in after getting off Pats train yesterday...friendly bartender, food was outstanding (scallops app, chicken parm, linguini n clams) ...Everything coming out of kitchen looked fantastic....two chefs were cranking out plates with pride and it showed.. .we'll surely return when we're in the area...next time, im ordering the stuffed pumpkins... great historical building/restoration read more

Nice atmosphere and friendly service, BUT the food was not very good. I had their signature Seafood Casserole, which included lobster, shrimp, scallops, and Atlantic sole (cod). All of which would be and should be great individually, but the taste of this casserole was very bitter and extremely strong tasting. It was like they added and cooked oyster sauce that had turned bad into the dish!! I rubbed as much of the sauce off as possible in order to get any good taste out of the scallops, small clumps of lobster and shrimp. So for me, it was total waste of the $20 price tag. My wife had fresh swordfish, which was much better, but still it was over cooked and too dried out. Would not recommend to anyone for a seafood restaurant. Maybe their steaks are better and done well, but at this point not worth my money to even try it!! For the best seafood around we found Anthony's Market in Middletown to be outstanding!!! Even though the atmosphere is very plain and simple! read more

Our experience tonight prompted me to write my 1st review. The food was disappointing. The burger was so dry my son couldn't eat it, my prime rib was ice cold. It's sad to say the kids chicken fingers was the best thing that came to the table. The service was slow and our waitress seemed overwhelmed and annoyed. We cancelled our dessert order, it was taking forever, they didn't have what we ordered and there appeared to be a problem in the kitchen getting it out. A very disappointing Mother's Day dinner. We go out to eat weekly and live close by, now I know why we don't go there. read more

We used to go there for drinks, which was great on a Tuesday night. However, recently, we attempted to go there on a busy night and they wouldn't seat us at a table because we just wanted drinks and appetizers. We were asked to wait until dinner was over, which was in an hour. Yet they had six open tables. That is terrible customer service. We probably would've had a big bill in drinks alone considering we were a big party. Needless to say, we went elsewhere; where the customers are treated a little nicer read more

Host, manager or whom ever was rude, service slow, waiter didn't smile once, asked for my cocktail twice, and the 400.00 bill later between 8 of us was worth knowing I'll never recommend or go there again for the company I kept was worth the hit. If the host-Manager can't act or be professional how can you expect the staff to be. The management needs to set the example. RI is very competitive in the restaurant industry therefore substandard service doesn't fly. read more

We tried it, and our experience was not good. It started with being confused with the atmosphere. It seems very much like a bar in the dining room, except that there's seating absolutely everywhere. We were told a twenty minute wait even though there were plenty of tables so we were going to leave. We walked out but then decided afterward to try it anyway and went back inside. They said a table had just opened up and we could be seated, strange. We started with their special escargot mushrooms. The mushrooms were very small and not stuffing was incorporated, just a piece of escargot in each mushroom, they tasted okay but were not great. The experience went downhill when our waitress forgot what we ordered. Instead of alerting the management so they could rush the food, or stop by and apologize she handled it solo. This caused us to wait a really long time for our food, and the bread was ice cold. When the food arrived, we both thought my boyfriends short rib mac n cheese, was okay. No crazy cheeses or anything to make this a signature gift, it was okay. Definitely need more seasoning but for the price was not satisfying. I had the french dip which was not good. My fries (very lackluster) were soggy and cold, and the sandwich was just meat on bread (no sauce, onions, melted cheese, etc.) but meat on a plain untoasted soft hoagie roll. Most of all I was compelled by the descriptions "artisan roll" this was like a stop and shop plain soft bread roll and worst of all it was cold. We told the waitress who said they would take it off the bill. The manager stopped by and apologized for the sandwich and they offered dessert. We choose the chocolate lava cake but were disappointed again when there was no lava. It was cooked all the way through. In the end we got our bill with the Sandwich still on it. I asked the waitress who explained they decided to comp the dessert instead of the sandwich. I paid it and we went to leave irritated, My boyfriend spoke to the manager on the way out who adjusted our bill without the sandwich. He did try to rectify our situation on the way out, but had he been involved in the beginning I think our experience would have been much better. We're not sure if we'd try it again. read more

Not the worst, yet not the best. Nice comfy bar, high prices, and ok food. Connected to Hilton Garden Inn airport and easy elevator ride to grab some drink and dinner. read more

Great ambiance, pleasant servers, and good food. A little expensive, and it gets much more expensive for dinner I'm told, but for lunch, it's just right. The food is done superbly (I had a regular burger and fries; my girlfriend and her mother had seafood), the decor is intriguing and very well done, and the history of the building makes the ambiance that much more fun. It's not an every day kind of place, due to the price, but for a once in a while treat or a place to impress and be seen, it's a good bet. read more

Skipped legal seafood because this sounded like a fun place. Was in the moose for some raw oysters. They were really expensive and the seafood platter for its contents was frankly a rip off. Ordered a pizza which was burnt to a crisp. French dip was old meat with bland juice. Fries were really good. Clam chowder was pasty without clams. Maybe it was a bad night. Best part of whole night was pineapple infused vodka. Amazing read more

As a business traveler I try and go with convenience. In Iron Works case, I really enjoy the food and atmosphere. Although it is connected to a hotel, there is a mix of business travelers, and locals. Nice place to sit at the bar and have a conversation. I do eat a mix of foods when I go there so I don't get bored. The only thing I found that I wouldn't order again is the French Dip. I thought the meat was tough and chewey. The Pizza is amazing! I believe he was the manager, he was very rude, totally not professional. We had a pais voucher through our employer but he treated us as if we were beggers. We did not want to create a seen and out of respect to our employer , we decided to take the food to go. We waited over 30 mins for the food , even though the food was ready he would not let the hostess hand to us, which I saw she was terrified of him. The French drys were too brown, is like someone chose the very small pieces and the can of drink was all bent and swollen. This is something I would never hand over to a customer. The receipt indicated delivery charges which was no delivery there, we waited for the food. So I decided not to eat there the rest of the trip, even so I had to pay for my meals/dinners on my own. At my restaurant I treated everyone with respect , even I like that person or not. No matter how they look or talk, appreciated them for coming in even if they ended up not staying for any reason. That's what a professional, respectful with integrity do. read more

We had our sons rehearsal dinner there four days ago ! I booked this event in Sept at thT time there were no other events booked ! We arrived shortly before six . The event was scheduled for 6-10 . We were told the room wasn't ready ! Actually it was we had decorated it at 1PM . However we wait d patiently a few parents with small children had to move to the rm since they weren't allow d by the bar . There was only 1 server for 35 people . Drinks orders were delayed , hoderves were passed very slowly. Also the three course dinner took slot of time between courses . They added another server after my husband voiced his concerns ! The servers were encellent none of the above was their fault . The quality of the food was great . We were very disappointed with management. They certainly didn't staff thes events according. I have a few friends who were thinking of using Iron works for their rehearsal dinners . After hearing our experience they are going elsewhere. I My husband and I have had many functions in various establishments but never had an experience like this ! Thursday nights at Iron Works Tavern is a treat. They have live music. I hear it's usually one woman with her guitar. It's great to watch but not so loud you can't still have a conversation.
