Got an order to go last week, a couple of burgers. They were fresh and hot. Hubby and I just went back and shared a ribeye- great flavor and enough to share. Will be back next trip. read more

Another overpriced place trying to be trendy. I'm so sick of paying a ton of money for nothing. Had a chicken sandwich with a tiny salad and my wife had scallops, there were like 5 of them and a 2 drinks. After tip it was over a hundred dollar bill. FOR A CHICKEN SANDWICH AND A FEW SCALLOPS! Please stop robbing people and disappear already. read more

The place is beautiful with the exposed brick and made to look like a old metalworking place. The service was good, the waitress was quick and attentive but the food was just OK. I started with a wedge salad. Gotta have a great blue cheese dressing to dress up a quarter of a head of lettuce and charge that much for it. Unfortunately they did not. the lettuce was fresh, but the dressing just wasn't good enough to do that job. I had the french dip and the roast beef was not rare but raw and not very tasty and the dip wasn't anything great. My wife got the crab cakes on the specials menu. because they were on the special, we thought they would be better but again not great, just OK. Not tasty, just ok. My son had a burger, nothing impressive to warrant the price, again , just OK. It was a nice looking place with mediocre food. read more

Iron Works is a lively bar/grill located near Providence Airport. Most of the airport hotels will shuttle you there and the place was pretty hopping. Our server was a little aloof, but it was crowded and he was covering like 8 tables. They have a pretty wide menu with a focus on local seafood and some classic American dishes. Prices are quite reasonable for the portion you get. On my last visit I had the salmon special and was very pleased. A 10oz portion of grilled salmon with some delicious asparagus for $16.95. The prices are all very reasonable here - esp for the seafood. The oysters here were delicious and were on special also. The place is kind of cavernous so it gets quite noisy. It is a solid choice if you are looking for a business dinner and don't want to head into the city. My phone died during dinner so I didn't get to take pictures, but the salmon was pretty. I hope that paints a vivid picture for you! read more

Waitstaff was friendly. Ordered the Bacon Infused Meatloaf. It wasn't bad, just a little bland. A bit pricey as well. Not sure if I would go back again but if I did, I would definitely try something else. Overall, it was an average experience. read more

My two friends and I two weeks ago decided to dine at the Iron Works Tavern. We heard great things about this establishment and thought we would give it a try. The Iron Works Tavern's atmosphere was very rustic and industrial, but was very homey, candle lit, and comforting. When we arrived at the restaurant, before being seated at the hightop bar tables, we were asked by the host if that would be accommodating to us which was considerate and appreciated. To start off the waitress failed to introduce herself and had good and bad moments throughout our dining experience. Some of the pros about our waitress were that she was quick to get our drink orders and got us refills without asking, which was convenient. Overall she did not overly take her time to do things when asked. She checked on us when we were mid meal to see how everything was. She also did not give us attitude when we asked if we could split the check. Regarding some of the cons, first off, she did not ask us if we had any questions about the menu before taking our order. When I was torn between different entrees to order, I asked for her recommendation and her response was that she was not sure and it was personal preference. Then I asked her what her favorite thing on the menu was and she recommended the most expensive entree. I asked her what was so great about that entree and she did not have much to say about it which was weird. When we asked for more bread she replied saying that it might be awhile because they were short on staff that night and seemed frazzled. We were very impressed with their specials menu, which was very seasonal influenced. It seemed like they had a lot of food knowledge and tried to execute current food trends. The food was phenomenal and very flavorful. The plating presentation was great and seemed well thought out. One entree that we ordered that was incredible was the pumpkin risotto stuffed pumpkin. It was very creative and different then what we have seen recently on autumn inspired specials menus. We would definitely come back to dine at The Iron Works Tavern. We would rate the food a 10/10 and the service a 7/10. We also would recommend this restaurant to friends, but would probably suggest requesting a different waiter. read more

We have dined here several times and it has always been pleasant. Tonight Chris took excellent care of us. We enjoy a tapas approach to dining and were accommodated with alacrity by Chris and staff. A most enjoyable repast. read more

Historic atmosphere, giant lobster roll was a very generous portion and delicious. The New England clam chowder was nearly spot on, good flavor nice creamy but potatoes were a little hard. I enjoyed the craft beer selection. My friend had the bacon cheeseburger royale which he enjoyed. French fries were tasty and served hot! read more

The bacon infused meatloaf is outstanding and the beer list including multiple stouts in the summer made for a great pairing. Would dine at again. read more

The Phyllo shrimp was excellent! I was glad they were able to substitute the sides otherwise I may not have been able to try this dish. Great service! read more

Food was ok. Service was Slooo. They were out of all the specials and online menu has changed.

I found this place because it is attached to the HGI. Passed it over many times. Do to the weather decided to give it a try. Busy! Best describes this place. I thought Waitstaff were attentive and the bar although crowded provided quick and courteous service. The noise level is high and the ambiance is lively. The food came promptly and the quality was pretty good. My order was prepared as I asked. Overall, I would say not a bad experience and if you find yourself heading out to this place you could do much worse. I would have given 3/1-2 stars but... My only complaint would be the management seems disorganized. Not that they weren't on top of things but not sure if they are consistent in the direction they provide staff. Overall, a decent experience and I wouldn't be hesitant to return. read more

After reading the negative reviews I was skeptical of this place. It apparently just got a positive review from a magazine so a friend wanted to go. The service was good. The short rib pizza was fantastic. My steak was okay. The other people I was with felt the same way. The draft beer was off so I switched to bottled beer. The mixed drinks were strong. I would go back for the pizza but that's it. I would consider the service as a plus. The negatives were entrees were just ok and the draft beer tasted off. Cleaning a tap system is easy, the entrees are a bigger issue. If you like truffles and cheese get the short rib pizza. That moved me from 3 to 4 stars read more

I am staying at the Hilton that's connected to this restaurant and everything is amazing. I ordered room service and the gentleman was very kind. The food was also good! I went downstairs to the actual restaurant for dessert but I wanted to eat it in my room. I ordered the creme brûlée and it was amazing. Perfectly light. The hostess, server, and manager were all extremely professional and accommodating. I will definitely remember this place when I come back in the fall. I wish I got the names of the staff who helped me because they were all so fantastic. read more

Had a work seminar near hotel of Iron Works. Was looking for interesting things to do outside seminar, and bartender Ken spent the time to see what my interest were and steering me into sailing at Newport. Did that, and had a great time and thought u should at least give the bar 5 stars. Besides that, bar was happening and drinks were filled promptly. read more

Came for a double date on a friday night. It was restaurant week and we got the prefix menu. Started out with the buffalo chicken dip which was ok, they put carrots in it which they probably used as a filler. The entree was soooooo bland. Seafood casserole which had no flavor. I added salt to the dish (I never add salt to my food which says a lot). The fish was plain and the scallops yuck. It needed some white wine and butter! They put rice at the bottom of the casserole and it had no flavor. The dessert was ok, had cheesecake. Overall, was not pleased with food quality and will not go back. Go for a drink if you must. read more

1st time at Iron works. Sat at the bar. Had lamb pops and scallops wrapped in bacon. So damn good!!! One of the bartenders, Andrea, was one of the best I've had. So down to earth and personable with a little side of sarcasm... loved her!!! She made our night. We will be back for sure. read more

Went there because the website said it had a dedicated gluten free fryer. It did not. They also advertised gluten free pizza. They had no more. I spoke with the hostess about the misleading gluten free options. She was rude and unhelpful. Would not recommend solely based on rudeness. read more

We took two daughters & two granddaughters (ages 16 & 4) to dinner at Iron Works on a Sunday evening. It was a wonderful experience. The ambiance was lovely- the history of the building evident in the brickwork, beams and decor. The menu had something for everyone. The pizza for my husband, the burger for a granddaughter, the steak frites for our daughters and the salmon for me. There was no children's menu but our server, Tyler L. helped us find a simple pasta for our younger granddaughter. Every dish was excellent. The service was excellent. Very highly recommended!! read more

I called to make a reservation for Thankgiving Dinner for 4 people around the 1st of November. A person identified as the manager calls me back and takes my reservation for 3 pm. The restaurant calls back on the Sunday before Thanksgiving to confirm our reservation for 5 pm. This so-called hospitality manager then tried to tell me I was mistaken and refused to correct his mistake. Apparently he had some friends that needed our table at 3. My advise, don't make any reservation at this establishment. Very unprofessional!!!!!! read more

We had dinner at IWT a few nights ago and after reading the previous reviews was not sure what to expect. My husband and I travel and eat out quite a bit and have a good sense of what we expect from a restaurant. We had a nice experience at IWT and were not disappointed. It was a quiet Sunday night. We didn't think the tables were too closely spaced as Daniel L. thought. Tables in many nice European restaurants are much closer, to the point where you have to pull out the table to squeeze into the back seat leaving maybe 6 inches between tables. This was not the case at IWT. I had a tenderloin and shrimp special, with a very nice gorgonzola cream sauce and finished it all. The steak was done to my liking and the shrimp were also cooked perfectly. My husband had a chicken and veggie dish that he also enjoyed. A nice bottle of wine topped it off perfectly. Like I said, it was a quiet Sunday night and maybe a noisy bar crowd would alter my thinking. read more

staff was very nice and tried to make sure we were well taken care of. We had a very nice steak and my wife a fish dinner that was also very nice We were told that R.I. had some very good places to eat and this proved them to be correct. The restaurant itself was outstanding as far as the decor. The owner came by to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. That was a nice touch. The dessert was an Ice Cream mudd pie and it was the best dessert I have had ever. I would like to see a bit more of a dessert selection but what they had was great. A good place to stop and the drinks were very good as well. plenty of free parking as well. Maro N read more

The food at the Iron Works is consistently good and is occasionally great. Bar service can be hit or miss. If you can time your bar visit to coincide with Kristen and Lisa W. being behind the bar you are all set. These two young ladies are friendly, efficient and charming and set the standard for what the other bartenders at the Iron Works should be held to. read more

I've been here twice, once for a business lunch and once for dinner with my significant other- both times were great. For Lunch: I had stuffed cod, which was delicious and fresh. I ate upstairs, and loved the vibe. The architecture was so impressive- original woodwork For Dinner :I had a buffalo chicken dip for an app, and he had french onion soup- both were very impressive. He had short ribs for an entree and I had chicken gorgonzola. We both really enjoyed our food. Also, the cheesecake was amazing- so creamy. The service was great and very helpful. I can't wait to go back! read more

Wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere, and wonderful, prompt service. Brought family of 6, all found something to order (we do not eat meat). My children all ordered the Margherita Pizza, and all loved it. I tasted it, and found the smoky flavor delightful. I ordered one of the specials, the Cajun Tilapia, and found it decadent and zesty. The presentation was wonderful and included a delicious and interesting spinach salad. Whole experience was in and out in under an hour, which for a party of 6 is unheard of. The waitress and maître d were attentive and friendly, which made everything so pleasant. Very impressed by RI's restaurant scene, and would happily return. read more

Very good atmosphere and good food too. Half off appetizers are the best so we got 4 of them during happy hour (between 3-6 pm). Ahi tuna, bacon scallops, clam chowder, buffalo chicken dip, and coconut curry mussels are all great. Food 4/5 service 4/5 read more

I've been to the Iron Works Tavern a number of times in the past few weeks. I've enjoyed all of my experiences there and look forward to becoming a regular. I'd recommend all of the dishes that I've tried, but the Chicken Gorgonzola was especially outstanding! If you're looking for a nice cocktail, they infuse all of their vodkas, and my favorite drink so far has been the Peached Arnold Palmer. The service has always been quick and attentive, and our most recent server, Chuck, was kind and warm. The management is always walking around to check in, and quickly responded to our requests. Love the atmosphere, love the food - you can't go wrong at this place! read more

HORRIBLE experience. First off I asked if they had Sangria, which was not on the menu. I was told yes, but they must have just winged it because what I was given was cheap red wine with some bar garnish fruit in it. I ordered salmon and it was so full of bones that it was inedible. The parts of the salmon that were not filled with bones were pure blubber. I have never had such a low quality piece of salmon in my life. I sent it back and ordered a Caesar salad instead. It took a half hour before my waiter returned with the Caesar salad. By that time, my partner had already finished eating. The salad was wilted and disgusting; it tasted like they ran it through the dishwasher. I was comped for absolutely nothing. The only thing I was given was irritated glances from kitchen. I will never return to this restaurant again. If I could give it negative stars I would. read more

Service was great. Staff was always aware of the needs at our table. Food is dependent on what you get. The sticky wings appetizer was outstanding. The buffalo dip was also quite delicious Pork Porterhouse - The pork itself was cooked beautifully, but the sides were a bit unimaginative. 12 Hour Braised Beef Short Rib - Beef was very tender, but was lacking in seasoning and flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes with the au jous was the best part of the dish. The sauteed spinach was very under seasoned and seem out of place. The Burger - Burger was cooked well but was missing some seasoning. Reuben - A very basic sandwich with nothing that stands out. Forgot to add 1000 Island dressing, but the server brought some on the side when asked for. read more

Went last night (first time) for bar drinks, then met college buddies for dinner. The selection of draft craft brews was right on target. The Foolproof Mocha stout was as good as Guinness if not better. The 21st Amendment Brewery IPA from San Fran was clean and crisp. Dinner was the best. Three of the four had the veal chop over risotto...huge and cooked medium rare to perfection. I had the seared tuna...again perfectly cooked rare w/ a pineapple chutney. Beers=great Food=great Atmosphere=great Service=great, everyone of the staff members aims to please. Definitely a worthy of more trips. Best part, the bartender will let you sample a beer if one is not sure about whether or not one will like it. Sweet, and not a skimpy sample either. read more

Haven't been in a while so thought I'd go as I've always enjoyed in the past. So very disappointed! Slow roasted short ribs were dry & did not have the veggies in them. Husband had a side of Brussels sprouts full of truffle cheese which I detest! Not happy!!! read more

My wife and I shared a vegetarian meal from here while staying at the hotel next door. We were disappointed with our meal and spoke to the hostess who referred us to the manager right award. The manager offered us a replacement meal and also gave us an appetizer. We had the mushroom flatbread and eggplant rollatini, both were very good. We would also like to complement the service as we were really pleased with how the restaurant handles our complaint. We will return next time we fly in/out of Providence. read more
