When we walked in we were impressed by the decor. The hostess was a gem. As she seated us, she told us the history of the building and made us feel comfortable immediately. Whoever wrote the menu should be employed in a marketing capacity. The descriptions lead me to expect much better food than what we received. First we ordered 2 Sangrias which were just "OK". We ordered an appetizer, Baked, Stuffed Littlenecks, which we mistakenly thought was a version of a Clams Casino. NOT. They were Stuffed Quahogs "Stuffies". The Caprese Salad was very good. No complaints. The Seafood Casserole was very, very dry and not a casserole at all. More like a sauté sprinkled with some crumbs and baked again. The dessert... I have never sent back a Creme Brûlée EVER. This was a first. It was slightly soured and watery. Our waiter needs to be trained again. He never came back and asked us how the food was. We had to flag him down on more than one occasion. Shortly after receiving our drinks we asked for napkins or coasters because the glasses were sweating all over the table. And then again, when he brought us after dinner coffee, he set our spoons down on a bare table. No place to put used spoons with coffee and milk all over them. I would have rated this different if it was just a sandwich or burger place with a simple menu. But when the menu has Filet Mignon as a choice I expect a certain quality of food. So, we're staying at the attached hotel and are at the end of our week long trip. We fly early tomorrow and don't want a huge meal. We are treated very well by the staff! Maybe they've read the reviews and are trying harder. We ordered a Caesar salad, some chowder and the Mac and cheese with short rib to share. Upon request, they brought bread with dipping oil. The oil had good flavor, but the bread was nothing to write home about. The salad was good. She tells me the chowder was okay. As for the Mac with short rib, it was good, but I wouldn't get it again. It could have used more short rib. We did see some impressive looking dishes being served around us and the patrons seemed to be enjoying them. Hopefully we'll be up for a full meal on our return. I was staying at HGI on a business trip and ordered room service from Iron Works Tavern. I was pretty excited that the hotel had an actual restaurant attached to it, and that they would bring your order to your room! I ordered the Broccoli penne with chicken and Chardonnay, which I told would be delivered to my room in 35 minutes. An hour later I called down to the restaurant and found out the girl who took my order, Erica, did not write down my room number. She felt so terrible I could not be mad at this girl! The food was rushed right to me at 50% off and Erica called back not once, but twice to apologize for her error. Mistakes happen and I am glad I called when I did to check on my order! Iron Works Tavern is very nice and it's high end. Just know that you will pay more like you are in a fine hotel than the local pub. The prices can feel a tad punitive. Four shots of Fireball was $34.00. I'm serious. Buy two bottles to enjoy with a dozen or so friends at home, or go to Iron Works and have four shots. You choose. We weren't there for dinner hour, just drinks and snacks later, so we got the three pizza's. The quality was good, I found two of the three bland,the Martguerita and another with mushroom, but that was my taste, another had some tasty meat and some spicy pepper and some real flavor. A friend had a chicken parm like dish he seemed to enjoy well enough although it seemed rather ordinary for the price.I perceived satisfaction not raving. Service was...okay but the host (owner?) seemed almost unfriendly. We arrived rather late, needing a sanctuary from a crowd fest beer joint on St Patrick's day, end of dinner for sure, and initially we may have brought an unwelcome note of beer-hall into a finer establishment, but just a note. We were polite and friendly and cooperative. If we were in the way it was becasue the bar area, on this St Patrick's day, was crowded and competes with the service area fiercely yet there seemed to be a note of disappointment that were were not going to each drop a hundred dollars. I understand. But we tipped fairly. I have to say that the $34.00 for four shots of Fireball (without warning either) probably put me in a defensive mode as far as ordering any more drinks myself. Okay.. maybe I'm not a big spender. The three pizzas cost about $45.00 and were a smart choice for a snack with drinks with friends. But here's why we went. Iron works is nice. Sometimes you need nice. The decor and atmosphere are at the high end of what you can find in Warwick RI. Unfortunately, on this occasion, I think that everyone found the host's poorly veiled and unrelenting annoyance or impatience was too memorable. Most of my party arrived minutes before I did, and they had put in a name for a table. But they seemed uncertain as to their situation. It was a fairly noisy crowd and a guitarist was playing. In the difficult to hear and communicate situations, the staff at Iron Horse failed to offer welcoming smiles. Avoid the traffic & chain restaurants on Bald Hill Rd. and venture to this little gem 10 minutes away. The ambience is warm, earthy and sophisticated perfect for a date, but also not romantic enough where it would be awkward having dinner with a family member or friend. Much of the seating encourages conversation, with little to no view of the TVs near the bar and intimate lighting. The food is delicious! For our appetizer we ordered calamari. It was the best I have had inland. I ordered a flat bread pizza since I had a late lunch. The flat breads are not presented as entrées, but make a filling light dinner. The pizza was simply amazing. I was not hungry, especially after eating some of the calamari, but I could not stop enjoying the tangy deliciousness of the BBQ chicken pizza. My dining partner ordered the chicken parmesan. Disclaimer: I am not a big fab of Italian food, but this chicken parm was great! I know there are plenty of authentic Italian restaurants in the area that may have better Italian-American dishes, but Iron Works does an impressive job with this dish. We even ordered dessert because we were eager to see if their desserts were as good as the rest of their menu. We were not disappointed. Oh, and their beer menu is pretty good. I started with a wedge salad. Gotta have a great blue cheese dressing to dress up a quarter of a head of lettuce and charge that much for it. I had the french dip and the roast beef was not rare but raw and not very tasty and the dip wasn't anything great. I actually stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn- and yes, it's easy to walk to a place connected to the hotel. I read reviews here, so I followed YELP- a little. Great atmosphere, first night went on Sunday, kind of quiet, mostly people from the hotel at the bar, but restaurant was 50% full otherwise. Got the blue cheese salad which was fantastic!!! Always great to have a non fattening start ( I know, blue cheese but more good than bad)... fresh fruit, mixed greens, roasted pecans, best salad in a while. Got the bay scallops as an entree- very good, and off the beaten path of what I get in RI. Couple nights later, I got the RI calamari and they were great. Good recommendation by YELPERS. Being a beer drinker, and traveling alone, the bar was comfortable, great service, frosty mug, cold beer on tap, good selection, 2 TV's in the bar to watch the game ( or Olympics in this case). First beer when traveling is the best, especially when it comes fast, and cold! When staying several nights, run to Legal Seafood for the Lobster bisque, come here for the calamari and scallops and def the Salad! Convenient for travelers, good for locals. I'll stay at the Hilton again and will hit Iron Works for sure. Very happy. read more

First time patron of the Iron Works in Warwick, only heard great things so I assumed this place was hyped up.... They are not hyped up! We called ahead for a reservation for a party and three and got there a few minutes before the reservation (which is what you should do) and we were seated immediately. At first glance the menu was small. Like crazy small. Like one of the smallest menus I've ever seen.... Even tho the menu was small they had some pretty good looking options. Everyone in my party got a different dish. I myself got the pulled pork sandwich and the salad and it was great. We got the fries as an app and they were unreal! Everything was so good we got the almond toffee cheesecake for dessert and it was as good as a cheesecake you'd get at the Cheesecake factory. The waiter and the manger came by multiple times and the food came out relatively quickly. We will without a doubt be going back to Iron Works in the near future. read more

My meal, the half roasted chicken, was overcooked but we had waited so long for food that we couldn't complain because we'd miss our evening activity.
