Lived in the area my whole life and never made my way here until tonight. Half price apps are a great deal, service was excellent! Waiter was very friendly and wasn't afraid to make suggestions. The manager brought us our food and came over to us afterwards to say hello and make sure we were satisfied with our meals. Food was delicious! I got the vegetarian special- farro salad with beets, peppers and onions. My sister got the French dip. The portions were pretty good. I think some of the food is overpriced, but I think that's because it's attached to a hotel. Can't wait to come back again next time I visit home. read more

Delicious food. Great service by Erica. I had the Seafood Casserole and my husband had the short ribs. Both were very yummy. Seafood cooked to perfection! I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I ordered the Steak Frites with Brussels Sprouts on the side and it was amazing. I almost licked the plate when I was done, and that's saying something. I'm an auditor by profession, so I can be quite critical. But tonight I only have praise for the food and service. I don't give many (never) 5 stars, but this place earned it read more

This place is isolated but worth the effort to find. Brick walls, leather seats, a small bar; very comfortable atmosphere. I ordered the pork cutlet with a salad replacing the spinach which they handled with no hesitation. Service was very fast! Cutlet was very good, salad was field greens with carrot shavings, tomatoes and a few onions. All in all a very enjoyable meal. read more

Absolutely great experience all the way around. The atmosphere is laid-back and feels like a hometown bar with serious class. We loved the ambience and decor. My husband and I came here for an early dinner and ordered a house salad, then tacos and pizza from the happy hour menu. Everything was delicious. Fresh. Beautiful. Full of flavor. Our server Chuck was friendly and attentive. We had such a perfect experience I stopped the manager to tell him so and also that I would post on yelp. A place not to be missed! read more

Couldn't be happier! My boyfriend and I stopped in tonight for dinner and a couple drinks. Our waitress Nicole was very pleasant and the food was great, and atmosphere was on point. So happy we found this little gem read more

Fantastic meal with a wonderful staff. Chuck was our server and he did a wonderful job keeping us informed of menu/drink choices as well as getting the food out hot. I ordered the local Brown Ale and Meatloaf. Beer was good a cold and tasted great. Meatloaf was a large portion for the price and came with mashed potatoes beans and carrots all lightly covered in gravy. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes were flavorful without being coated in salt. 4/5 stars were used because the carrots and beans could have been cooked a bit more. They came out medium hot and still pretty crunchy. Clearly not a fault of the wait staff but of the kitchen not insuring the veggies were totally cooked. Minor fault would definitely return when in Providence. read more

I came to Iron Works after seeing it was rated as good for Happy Hour on Yelp! Well, there's no Happy Hour at this restaurant. With that being said I did try the clam chowder and fish tacos and enjoyed them very much. The ambiance is very nice and the service was terrific. read more

Really big place so definitely good for parties. We were a part of 10, service was fairly quick food was also pretty good. I had a Mac and cheese with braised beef short rib, it was good. Very cheesy. Lots of desserts, lots of beers and drinks as well as a bunch of appetizers. Overall I thought it pretty solid. read more

I enjoyed homemade Mac & Cheese (5 cheeses) as an app along with a Sunrise Martini. The app was superb and the Martini was made with Raspberry Stool i - it was not too sweet. My waitress, Nicole was cheerful and attentive. I highly recommend that you check it out if your in the Warwick area. Denise Johnson read more

My husband and I were vacationing in Providence, and we heard about how great Iron Works Tavern was. We read the reviews, and we decided to go here for dinner one night. We got there about 7 pm., and we had to wait 20 minutes for a table. (Not too bad.) When we got seated, our waiter was also responsible for the bar area, so getting him to come to our table took some work. He was polite when he got there, but he certainly wasn't as attentive has he was to the bar people. The noise level is HORRENDOUS. To say it is incredibly loud in this restaurant is a vast understatement. You can barely hear the person across the table from you. The food was good, but it does not warrant that price. There are many other restaurants in the Providence/Warwick/Cranston area that have much better $12 cheeseburgers. read more

Went here for a lunch work meeting, wait staff was super nice and accommodating! Excellent looking place, the decor was awesome. I like that you can watch them cooking your food. I was really tempted by the mac and cheese, but ended up choosing the BLT.. it was awesome! mac and cheese next time though.. and there will be a next time! read more

No air conditioning is unacceptable for a restaurant. No warning until after we ordered. Unpleasant and uncomfortable. Waste of money to go under those conditions. read more

Came here with the parents for a quick birthday dinner because we were already in the area and left feeling full and happy with our choice. We were seated right away and seated by the pleasant staff. The server came right over and took our drink order and immediately put in our appetizer. We decided to try out the fried Brussel sprouts, which to many may not seem appetizing, but they were actually very good. Once the appetizer was finished we placed our order for food. My mom ordered the chicken mac n' cheese, my dad ordered the chicken parm, and I ordered, like always, the margarita pizza. We were all very pleased with the portion size, taste of the food, and the excellent service. The ambiance of the place was very cool with the rustic 'Iron Works' feel. Definitely a good spot to go too, especially for those who are traveling and are located near the airport. read more

OMG!!! Absolutely the worse service and treatment i have ever experienced in my life!!!!! I Apparently the manager we had planned the reservation with is not longer employed and the new management made it their point to harass me and my group the 5 minutes after we walked in... there were so many things they did wrong I don't know where to start to explain... after 45 minutes of the worse and I mean from the bottom of my heart the absolute worse service ever we had to leave. It really felt like I was caught between a pissing war with the new manager and whatever was going on internally with the old one. I had never been there and never will ever go there again along with another 40 people I had originally reserved two tall tables at the bar area to hold 20 people. I had explained to the manager that some of us were planning to eat around 7 pm and that others will come and leave thought the night to have drinks and/or food at the bar. we were planning to stay all night because we also wanted to listen to the singer that night as part of my 50th birthday celebration. It was important that the tables reserved were by the bar area too . a week before the reservation, my sister also called to go over the details of the flow fro the night, and she then let then know that they should expect all and all after the night was over about a bar flow of in and out of about 30 - 40 people as we were planning to stay and listen to the music at the bar. 5 minutes after I arrived, they were harassing me because they wanted me to give my two tables away since not all 20 had arrived exactly at 7. (never mind the place was half empty) 15 minutes later, they refused to cash out 3 of my friends (so my guest had to go and get cash to give to my daughter), and proceeded to tell me that they were not going to start tabs at the bar, that none of my friends were allowed to order from the bar, that they were only going to give me one bill and that they were not going to take too many Credit cards to pay off the bill. They wanted one credit card or cash. As people arrived they were given the bad eye and were asked not to sit or hang by the bar People that arrived for my party that asked to sit in the dining room to eat before heading to the bar to finish celebrating were not serve even water after 45 minutes The manager kept yelling that I had only reserved for 20, and I kept telling him that I had reserved a table for 20 near the bar because not all the friends like to sit on the table and some just sit at the bar as they would be coming and going all night. I also said this was all explained to the manager when reservations were made. They had only assigned ONE waiter for the table of twenty. He was loosing it with 20 energetic people ordering drinks... only one waiter And again remember they were refusing to serve us at the bar At one point the manager came and stood between the table and the bar (they were located right next to each other) and said we could not stand there and we had to stand in the middle of the restaurant? At that point one of my dearest friends had had enough and said, Lets go!! this is horrible, lets move it to Doherty's and in less than 5 minutes all my friends paid for their drinks and left. When I arrived at Doherty's I was welcomed by the manager with a smile and he apologized for the taverns treatment. He said he had talked to all his staff and had asked them to give me extra love and special treatment. I was greeted with free drinks and ended up having a real good time Does it make any sense to you what happened? It does not to us. It was the worse I have been treated in my life in a restaurant. When we left the place was pretty much empty. Do yourself and friends a favor. DO NOT GO HERE read more

Why the two stars: FOH (Front of House) = Three (3) stars, good service once you get past one of the Managers and the server get to your table. BOH (Back of House Kitchen and food) = One (1) star, due to lack of real flavor, poorly conceived dishes that make no sense, out of touch cooking, heavy in carbs, overall just a bad menu to include daily specials of huge nonsense that rival a full menu in any other establishment. Average from FOH & BOH = Two (2) stars. Yes I have been here before. And trust me when I say I vowed to not go back. But the saving grace was one of the owners. She is great. After my first visit I sent her a message detailing the horrific time I had my first trip in. She responded, and we have discussed what I experienced. So I hope you have a cold adult beverage and a comfortable chair as this is going to be an all nighter. Visit one: I was ignored at the hostess station and then the manager gave away my table to another guest. He did-not care nor did the hostess. I voiced my displeasure and you would think the Manager would have come over to resolve the issue and apologize. But no and his overall attitude through the whole evening was treating the guests in a demeaning manner as well as a higher than thou attitude. He never did one table touch the whole hour I was in there also I never saw him smile or attempt to help the staff by running food or clearing tables. I so wanted to say "For gods sake man you in the hospitality industry get with the program." But I think it would have been a waste of oxygen. As far as the food that might it was horrible. Poorly cooked chicken (it was dry and it was on the bone which meant it was over cooked period). The pasta was like eating wallpaper paste. The sauce was thick and under seasoned. It also was a dish that had no direction. Nothing made any sense of being together. So it's best to say it was bad. The service was so-so but not outstanding. Visit two: Decided to try again. Since the owner and I talked I was willing to go. This night seating was better. The same manager sat me but was wanting to get it over with just blurted some words I could not understand and left. He did this all night so it was not just me. Took server 5-6min to show up at the table. I reviewed the menu's (yes I said menu's as in more than one). Problem is this is overkill with a specials menus that most restaurants would use as the nights offerings. But not this place they have this all the time. I cannot imagine what the turmoil in the kitchen is with the specials and then a 4 page menu standard fair. So ordered the Asian potstickers with edamame. Server said they were fried. So my thought was Asian that would be pan-fried. WRONG! Deep fried! What a waste and not appetizing. So now I order a salad with grilled salmon. Arugula with beets, goat cheese, walnuts and carrots, white onions. What a combination and again did not make sense. The salmon was no where near a proper portion the salad was missing beets as they were only minor in the dish, the onions were way off and too strong, three walnuts, not sure why the carrots and dressing was a no show. The arugula overpowered the salad and overall it was not what I expected. Service was a bit better than first time so an improvement. Third visit: Meet with the owner. A great person who wants to succeed and have a quality place. If you get the chance to meet her please do. So dinner was the Meatloaf, app was the tuna. Good app but portion could be just a bit bigger (my opinion). Bacon infused meatloaf? Well it's big, not sure where the infused bacon was and it sits on mashed potatoes with some veg and topped with fried onion strings. So what's wrong with this dish. Well it's the bread slice under the meatloaf on top of the potatoes. A small sampling of vegetables. The onion straws are a waste and the mashed eh. Oh! The meatloaf was over grilled and was more blackened than just grilled. I could have returned it but kept it. Service was very good and another step up. Overall this place is so cool on the inside and the history of the building is very cool. The food could be better. In my opinion, the kitchen needs to wake up and realize: 1) Pasta in most every dish is dated and should go away. One or two pasta dishes ok. 2) A special is a special, and should not be a 12 item or more menu. 3) Revamp the main menu and get with the times. Get out of the 80's, 90's and early 2000's. Go farm to table and seasonable. 4) The heart of the house (kitchen) drives business. So a fresh menu and lighter fair would do wonders for the business. If the kitchen is stagnate the business fails. Restaurant 101! So I recommend this place and gave it two stars only because the menu and overall food is what is holding this great facility back from being a 5 star place. Maybe over time the kitchen will see the light and change allowing the Iron Works to rise to the great place the buildings history read more

Our server Chuck was very nice but the food was just so so. And for mediocre food the prices are crazy! A rib eye dinner was $29!!! That's what I would expect for a filet... Nothing on the entire menu appealed to me so I ended up with cream of mushroom soup which looked like cat throw up and tasted like not much of anything and gulumpkis ... Which is polish stuffed cabbage... There was nothing bad about it but it wasn't good either. I don't think we would ever go back. There are much better places for a better price. As a side note it is very echoey and loud which makes it hard to have a conversation. read more

If customer service is important to you, keep driving past this restaurant. Poor management when it is busy. They can't split checks. You can't order a drink from the bartender if the waitstaff is too busy, they make you wait longer until the waiter is finally free. No standing near the bar allowed. Waitstaff almost in tears when we decided to leave. The waiter obviously needed help and management failed to adapt. The kicker of all this.. if you write a negative review on FB, they block you instead of apologizing. Ownership needs to revise some of these issues. read more

Came here in October and I was so psyched that they had an amazing pumpkin menu. how cool is that?! My pumpkin was filled with major awesomeness, scallops. Cranberries, spinach, and BACON! I still remember my server, his name was junior and he was so sweet and nice! Hubby and I had the pumpkin bread pudding as well ( I'm going to faint reliving this) ...totally was to die for, the one minor critique was the dessert was so yummy that I think they have the talent to whip up their own cream for the dessert, I bet it would rock. My husband has come back and I look forward to my second visit as well! read more

The response to my review showed no accountability for their over-priced very very small portion of dessert.(See Pic) "Come back in and try us" is most definitely NOT going to happen. Dinner was amazing especially our deaert the almond toffee cheesecake. We will come back just for dessert and for dinner.

We went here before attending a play in Providence. We will NOT be back. The atmosphere was very nice. Everything else was horrendous. We waited quite some time for our drinks & entrees. I had a fish entree that was full of bones-literally every bite had a piece of bone in it. We sent it back and asked to see the menu to order a different entree. While we waited (again quite some time for the replacement) I asked for a side salad to hold me over as I was now very hungry. My replacement entree was good, but didn't arrive until after my partner had finished his steak, veg & potatoes. The server never checked back to see if the replacement meal was satisfactory & only the $3 salad was comp'ed. It took forever for the server to return to take the credit card for our bill also. We made it to show time by the skin of our teeth (and, yes, we had informed the server of our plans.) read more

I'm very picky with beef when I eat out, so, I rarely order it. My French Dip was exceptional here. It was tender and juicy, lean, and sliced incredibly thin. My salad tasted great and the drinks were ok. My server was just "ok" and not as attentive or friendly as it could have been. I didn't order chowder but I will say it was not a Manhattan or New England style, it was brothy with vegetables. The Internet menu and pricing is about 20-25% less than the real menu at the restaurant so I felt misled and adjusted the rating based on that. read more

What can I say that is positive? The arugula and goat cheese salad was very good. But that is were all the goodness ends. The dipping oil tastes horrible, and when you are spoiled with the wonderful aromas of olive oil on Federal Hill restaurants this just does not cut it. The Rhode Island calamari was oily and far from anything I would describe as crispy. We should have taken that as a warning and stayed away from the special of the day, Fish and Chips. The chips must have been sitting around for a while and the fish was cold, heavy, and oily. We mentioned the issue with the calamari to our waiter who said that he would mention it to the chef. But then we got the awful fish and chips. We politely mentioned our comments again. Neither the Chef nor the manager came over to ask what was wrong. Overall a huge disappointment. We will never go back there again. read more

Since I travel (and therefore dine out) very frequently, i have to admit that most of the time I struggle to think of something on the menu which looks good to me. At the Iron Works, I thought the shaved prime rib sandwich sounded good. I ordered the side salad with it instead of fries. Oh my, was it ever delicious! I have to say this was the best sandwich I have ordered in a long, long time. Absolutely delicious. The sandwich was served on a baguette which was not only fresh and had the perfect crust and texture, it was the perfect size, too. Not too big, not too small. There was a mild horseradish sauce on the sandwich which was very mild and the perfect accompanying flavor - don't be worried if you are not a horseradish fan as it was so subtle and balanced that even if you aren't a connoisseur of horseradish, I think you'll like it. Dang was it good. I am doomed to never try anything else on the menu as I will forever order this sandwich! I wish I could have gotten a picture, but I already started eating it before I realized it was so good. My server behind the bar was Michelle, who was friendly, prompt, and courteous. 5 stars from me. read more
