I have been to Iron Works a couple of time. One of the main reasons though is it's location. The folks I was meeting with were staying at hotels close to the airport. If they would have been up for a little bit longer drive, I would have gone elsewhere. That is not to say the food here is bad, because it is not. it is to say there are a few steak houses out there that are better. Some of them a lot more expensive, but a few are actually cheaper. This one in my opinion caters to those with an expense account or a per diem that can be used. So the place itself is very nicely done. The bar is big and well outfitted for drinks. The food is OK, but a bit over priced. $14.00 for a burger that is really not any better than Ozzie's ($8.00) down the street. And $30.00 for a Fillet that is not even close to being as good as Texas Roadhouse ($18.00). Anyway, if you want the atmosphere and are willing to cough up a about $100.00 for a couple to eat and drink, then this is a really good place to do it. If you are a little more of a tight ass, as I appear to be, you may want to drive a little further down the road. read more

Located in an old iron works factory, this dining establishment retained much of the original look and feel of the early 1900s factory. Look around at the ceiling beams and bricks! We enjoyed our experience in many ways. I started with a Caramel Apple-tini (with sugared rim, of course) and hubby had a pumpkin beer. We didn't get appetizers as we thought we'd wait and enjoy a dessert this time. Main courses: Seafood Stew (full of mussels, clams and fish - yummy) and the Swordfish Special. Dessert was the Apple Crisp with a scoop of ice cream (we were charged $2 for the ice cream that I thought was part of the dessert but I couldn't find any dessert menu on the website to support one way or the other). We waited a bit for the apple crisp because they were actually baking it so it was piping hot!!! Because we love to watch people, we couldn't help but notice the table attendant (I don't like the term busboy) who was everywhere! Very diligent in clearing, wiping and setting a table. The manager told us what a great worker Abhi (the table attendant) was and that he even does room service for the attached Hilton Garden Inn and does bar-back work, too. Congrats Abhi - your pride in your work shows.....you will go far in life with your approach that all jobs are important! Good luck with your studies. read more

I've had dinner here once before when it first opened years ago. This is a place I always seem to forget and I think it's because of its location. However it's a great spot to go to if you're going to Ocean State Theater Company (right down the road), or are traveling and are staying in the hotels close to the airport! The building and ambiance is very cool including many historical photos from the area. The atmosphere is inviting and casual with an upscale feel to it. I dig that "be comfy, yet feel special" feeling places with this atmosphere give off. I had the penne pasta with broccoli and my dining partner ordered pork which. Both meals were delicious. The pasta dish was the perfect serving/portion but I thought the pork dish looked small - I like to eat! Prices are affordable but I wouldn't put this on my cheap eats list. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch because we were in the area. We've been a few times and I recalled having a pleasant experience so we tried again. We usually avoid restaurants that are attached to hotels but I liked the decor and the menu. I eat out with my kids all the time and the fact that this restaurant does not offer a kids menu is a huge drawback. The first time we visited the server said they could prepare something for the kids and gave us some options. This time the server didn't even try. Since I couldn't convince my kids to share something I was forced to order 2 full size entrees and waste the leftovers. The food was mixed. The pizza and burger we ordered were good. My daily special panini was dry and the fries were terrible. I asked for my salad dressing on the side and of course it came out drenched in dressing. I don't think we'll be back again, certainly not with kids. If I was to eat out without the kids, there are literally tons of restaurants I'd rather try. The value is very poor for the quality of the food in my opinion. read more

I went here again after having a reasonably good experience the last time to find myself more disappointed in the food this go around. I ordered the BLT which was mediocre at best. The bacon was beyond fatty, the sandwich was overloaded with tomato and lettuce on burnt bread, and the avocado aioli was nearly impossible to locate. On the plus side, service was good and wine was 1/2 price for lunch. Not a deal breaker, but it might be a while before I return. read more

Tonight started with my girlfriend and I being indecisive about dinner but both agreeing we wanted nachos. I've probably driven by this place a thousand times cutting through the area on my way to post or airport road. Tonight was the first time I ever decided to actually stop in and check the place out. The decor is beautiful....dark woods, rustic lighting, copper accents and dark leather ish looking booths going the circumference of the dining room. Only draw back is you're sat relatively close to neighboring parties. There was a very decent beer selection, especially as at as seasonal beers go. Not necessarily a large selection...but a good one. The menu is small...not that that is a bad thing. There were several specials that sounded appetizing but after looking over to the table next to us I went with one of the chef's specialties. It was some kind of seafood medley in a white wine and tomato sauce over pasta. It contained chunks of lobster and fish, as well ass shrimp, calamari, sea scallops and clams. One of the best seafood dishes I've ever had. My girlfriend went with the filet with mashed potatoes And gorgonzola cream sauce. I swear I thought she was starting tear up when she took a bite. She stated it was the best steak she'd ever had. I tried a bite and I'd say she was damn near right about that. This place was not what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be more like a Bar & Grill or pub style restaurant. I'll admit we were pleasantly surprised...even if there were no nachos. read more

First time here and I'll definitely be back. Everything from the apps to the drinks to the dessert was phenomenal! Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts app and pork schnitzel entree. The almond toffee cheesecake was divine. read more

My mom and I decided to try IWT for lunch this Sat. We were greeted at the door and were seated right away. The decor was a loft tavern which i love. The waitress took our order right away but seemed to have a little ADD. I had asked to see the dinner menu while we waited for our lunch. After 5 mins of her standing around w/o seeing menus I asked the host and was told I'll be right over with some. After watching him walk around the dining room and kitchen for another 5 mins we had to ask the waitress again. It took over 1/2 hr to get our food and there was only a few tables seated. When our food came out at least mine was hot after waiting that long. As for the food, my mom ordered the bagel with smoked salmon which was supposed to have a herbed cream cheese. She asked for some cucumber which we were told they didn't have any. It was weird since the had a few salads on the menu that had cucumbers in them. Her dish arrived w/o herb cream cheese and her bagel was smaller than the side english muffin i ordered. The corned beef was good as were the fries that came with my steak sandwich. I had ordered my steak rare which came out med and the bread was hard as a rock. Its such a shame it wasn't a better experience since the menu looked good and great prices and decor. read more

One of the worst dining experiences I ever had. First off, manager went to every table and talked to everyone... oh right, except us. IDK why (?!?!) but whatever, no biggie. Moving on... Our server would disappeared for huge amounts of time, and we would run out of essentials, like drinks and such. Our food was alright, except for the fact that my boyfriend's pizza was burnt (I can't believe they even let that leave the kitchen), and my burger was ridiculously overpriced for what it was. I don't care if you put some tomato fancy nonsense with a ridiculous name, its KETCHUP. Let's just say I couldn't wait to leave and buy myself something decent to eat elsewhere, even if it was just Dunkin Donuts or whatever. Anywho, I really really really thought this was horrible. I would elaborate but it's not worth it at all. BLEH. Needs to close ASAP. read more

PROS. Waitress was very sweet and attentive. Service was fabulous. Restaurant looks great and has an appealing design CONS: didn't like the food that I ordered which was a burger. The bread is too small and when you bite into the burger the juice and the middle of the burger spill over. Overpriced. Saw the chef in the kitchen blowing his nose. He was using a napkin and had gloves on. I sure hope he washed his hands or changed his gloves. I don't know if he did. But just seeing him do that completely turned me off and I lost my appetite. OVERALL: I would probably come back here for a drink. Not sure if I would eat here. read more

First off, we went to order one kids hamburger and one kids chicken tenders meal to go at the restaurant since the wait was over an hour long for a table. The hostesses automatically told us that they apparently had no fries left and only a salad as a side. I would understand if they didn't have a specific meal or beverage but not plain cut up potato's with salt on them. It took them over an hour to make 2 simple kids orders as well as not offering any other side other than plain lettuce!!! They told us that we couldn't get chips either as a side considering their "lack of potato's". The hostesses seemed very ignorant and snappy when we had brought up that they could've given us chips as a side or something that actually was worth the 68 dollars we paid for just chicken tenders and a plain burger. In general, all staff is very slow and has no respect for anyone's hunger or time taken to wait for their slow work and job. Update: We got the burger and chicken tenders an hour and 15 minutes after we ordered, with the burgers bun being completely stale, burnt, and dry. On top of this, the burger was fully burnt and crispy which is definitely not how a burger should taste anywhere near!! The burger was literally the size of a golf ball which is ridiculous considering it costed 10 dollars not even including the fries that were apparently "unavailable". Absolutely unacceptable! This restaurant was even worse than a 1 star McDonald's which should say a lot considering how expensive it is!! Do not come here. Not child friendly whatsoever!! read more

Random stop for lunch. Enjoyed the bacon-wrapped scallops (came with 3), seafood chowder (so good and not too heavy) then the Mac and cheese as an entree which was absolutely delicious. The service was awesome and the overall atmosphere was definitely a place I plan on visiting again read more

Fun place. Great food. The fish tacos were delish. The pineapple infused vodka was excellent. We went twice. Will definitely go again.

I just arrived in Providence from California for my sons graduation from Newport OCS. His girlfriends flight was delayed so I needed a restaurant to eat and hang out until her flight arrived. The guy at Hertz couldn't have given me a better recommendation, not only was the food amazing!!!! The service was over the top from John! Thank you for the great food and hospitality while I waited out a delayed flight. read more

Despite the fact that it is attached to the Hilton Garden Inn, Iron Works is not your typical Hotel Dining Experience. With such great history and decor (this place used to be an actual Iron Works), I found myself not expecting much from the food, but after visiting a few times, I've found the food to be great too. They've got really good Calamari, which they serve Rhode Island-Style with Banana Peppers, and their appetizer selection is really solid. Also, the entree's are all top-notch. If they've got it on the menu, be sure to try their rendition of the Lobster Macaroni and Cheese, which they actually serve back in the lobster! One word of caution for the frequent traveler, though. I've never seen a TV in this place, so It's not ideal if you're looking to catch a game, plus the menu can get a bit pricey for those who are traveling on a fixed budget. read more

Great restaurant located next to the Hilton Garden Inn & across from TF Green, and with plenty of parking. The decor was very nice, the service was great, and the food was delicious. I tried the French onion soup and for my entree had phyllo wrapped shrimp, which is 3 large shrimp stuffed with crab meat wrapped in phyllo dough server with rice and asparagus. Very unique and very tasty! The Mac and Cheese is also delicious. Didn't have a drink but the drink menu looked intriguing. Will definitely come back. read more

I've dined at Iron Works on a few occasions, but last night I had an exceptional experience, so I figured I'd share. Both hosts were polite, friendly and accommodating. We came earlier in the night, so there was no wait, and we were seated right away. We had Kayla as our server. She was knowledgeable and informative, helping me pair a wine with my meal choice. She suggested the dinner special of the night which was a locally caught, white fish and that I was extremely impressed with. It is a wonderful environment with a nice pace and servers who are not overbearing. We had a significantly enjoyable experience and I'm looking forward to returning. read more

We were staying at the adjacent Hilton Garden Inn and stopped in for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised with the food and though the ambiance was a bit dark (no outdoor seating), the space itself is Industrial yet comfortable (booth seating always a plus). Ericka was our server and took great care of us. We got the blackberry margarita, stoli doli, the burger with bleu cheese and bacon, a littlenecks and mussels special, calamari, potato chips, and a wedge salad with scallops. We probably over ordered but it was nice to try fresh seafood from the area. Presentation was good and cocktails arrived in a timely manner. The place started to fill up as the afternoon went on. I don't know the next time I will find myself here but if you're staying in Warwick it's a solid dining option and I'd imagine a decent place for some late night drinks. Parking lot is free or you can walk from the hotel as we did. It's actually connected I think but we walked outside along the sidewalk. Total before tip $ 112 for two. read more

What a nice surprise! I popped in here today for a late lunch after checking in next door at the Hilton Garden Inn. It was 3:00pm at the start of Happy Hour, which I didn't realize until my server came over to introduce himself and hand me a regular menu and a Happy Hour menu. Happy Hour runs 3-6pm, and includes a nice assortment of appetizers. I opted for the Mushroom Flatbread. Holy moly, Batman! That flatbread was HUGE, but best of all, it was uber tasty! It could have fed 3 people...honestly. I wrapped up my leftovers, and it'll be a big breakfast for me tomorrow morning. The thing about Iron Works Tavern is that it's more of a gastro pub than it is a "regular ol' tavern". Sure, they have burgers, but they've got a lot more than that including a large assortment of seafood items. Oh, and it's not stuffy. It's truly a pub, but come prepared to spend more time perusing the menu that you would at most pubs simply because there are so many fantastic options. The interior screams "pub!" with the dark woods, cool bar, and exposed brick, but your belly will say you just ate a fine meal. Check it out, and don't worry about putting on your fine duds. This is a jeans kind of place. You'll be just fine! read more

Ironworks was totally fine, you guys. It was $30 for three beers (two Harpoons and a Blue Moon) and a pizza. The beers were full, in clean glasses and didn't taste like dirty taps. The pizza was wood grilled, which is cool, had fresh ingredients and tasted pretty good - exactly a B. It's not amazing, but it's not bad - it's precisely "fine," and when you're starved after a long drive and a rental car return, sometimes you don't want to do anything except cross the street to a predictable-looking place and get exactly what you expect. I'd go again if I had to return another rental car. read more

First stayed here at the Hilton Garden Inn about 6-7 years ago. I went to the Iron Works for lunch and a beverage. Bingo! What a Great place! The staff were then, and Always have been, outstanding! Friendly, (chatty when it's slow and they have time) and so warm. It's like dropping into my mom's house! Since that first time (I usually stay for a week at a time) I Always stay at the HGI Providence airport. For a chain hotel in the "middle" and "lower" price range, this place shines, and the Tavern is right alongside! I have eaten at IWT 2 dozen times easily! and tasted almost everything they've had on the menu. The ambiance is easily awesome!, 100 year-old bricks, awesome woodwork and brass trimmings, set amidst the charm of 19th century industrial architecture just makes me feel warm. It's like home! I have never had a bad meal there and most have been so damned good it makes my mouth water. All this for close to what you'd pay at a Red Lobster or a steak chain diner. Having been a "regular" customer (even if the visits have been months or years between), I always feel sad to find a server or other employee has left, but the new ones inevitably step into the void and fill the (sometimes Very Large) shoes with professionalism and aplomb! One night at IWT, most of the customers had left and I was just hanging out nursing a drink. I watched with interest as the wait & bar staff that was still present went about the process of removing ALL the glassware from the shelves and racks placed them into dishwasher trays and ran them thru the machine. Once through they armed themselves with dish towels and one by one hand dried and shined EVERY last glass, goblet, and stein before placing them in their allotted spot! I asked if this was some monthly ritual since I had noted that dirty glassware was routinely washed during the evening as well. When I was informed that this was a standard job that was done nightly whenever possible, but easily 4-5 times a week, I was amazed. Iron Works Tavern is a Jewel in West Warwick, and I will definitely give them my business whenever I am in RI! read more

When my new husband and I started planning our wedding, we made two hotel blocks. The first was at a hotel in downtown Providence, within walking distance of our reception venue, and the other was at the Hilton Garden Inn in Warwick. When the hotel in Providence let us know on such short notice that they were no longer able to accommodate our farewell brunch the day after the wedding, we began to panic. We spoke to someone at the Hilton about hosting an event there, and she directed us to Dennis at IWT. Dennis helped us set up a buffet style brunch in the upstairs dining area at the tavern, and forwarded us many different options for our menu. The brunch was executed perfectly, the bartenders and servers were attentive and accommodating, and the morning went off without a hitch. It was wonderful to be able to be with my family in a more quiet setting than the evening before, and it was stress-free due to all of the hard work that everyone at IWT put in. This has always been one of my favorite spots to dine out, and I cannot recommend them highly enough! read more

Business travel. Colleagues had something inside a pumpkin and declared it good. I had a vegetarian gluten free pasta with broccoli sun-dried tomato that was excellent. Nice wine list with reasonable prices. I'll stay at this hotel again for the quality and convenience of the tavern. read more

We were meeting friends from Virginia that we hadn't seen for awhile. They were staying at a hotel in Warwick and asked us to find a place close by. They are foodies, not fancy but appreciate good food. After reading reviews, we chose Iron Works. The food and the experience was outstanding. This restaurant is not like any other we have been to. The food was amazing. It was fresh, interesting and creative. Even the salad dressing was special. From the appetizers to the dinner to the desserts, we were impressed. All of our plates were emptied. No leftovers! We will be returning and we will recommend Iron Works to our friends and family for sure! Steve, the waiter was both knowledgable, friendly and fun! What surprised me was the the menu was less tavern-style and more traditional sit-down restaurant themed. My BF and I went on a Saturday evening (it was St. Patty's Day) hoping to find a rueben or corned beef sandwich. We were in luck -- we found just what we were looking for. But sandwiches are not normally on their every day menu -- just 1 burger option. The decore is gorgeous -- I am a sucker for exposed brick. Dark wood tables and chairs -- about 4 high tops in the bar area and then a more traditional dining room, even thought it was all 1 space. We sat at the bar -- the bartenders were very busy, but attentive. The floor manager helped us find seats at the bar because they were a bit on the busy side. But he kindly asked a patron to move over a stool to make space for us and the patron happily did so (which was nice of her too). We had ruebens for dinner, which were nicely grilled. But had a strong garlic flavor, which is a bit unusual. The french fries appeared handcut and were nicely cooked -- I do prefer my fries to be potato-y. There were about 5 beers on tap (I did not sneak a peak at the bottle selection) and a very well stocked bar. I would go back to try the regular menu -- or use this space as a spot to grab a drink in the Warwick area. It is attached to a Hitlon Garden Hotel and across from the new Interlink train station. I would suspect there'd be a lot of out-of-towners. read more

We live only a few miles away but had never tried this place. Really nice atmosphere in an old-style pub with exposed brick and a large, open friendly interior. Everything we had was quite good, but not great. Nice selection of appetizers and drinks. I especially enjoyed the lettuce wrap appetizer, duck bourgignon, and Grand Marnier creme brûlée. The service was friendly and efficient. Not the most innovative meal, but we'll-prepared, friendly, and even offered a child's meal to our 8 year-old. Will definitely try again soon, read more

Stopped in here last night with a friend in town and we weren't disappointed. I had the braised beef sliders, delicious, but simple and small. I also had the bacon-wrapped scallops with maple glaze, which were some of the best that I've ever had. I'd certainly get those again. The beer selection is small, yet creative. The ambiance is awesome, my favorite part for sure. Our server was very thorough and efficient. I'd go back for the mac and cheese, that looked like it may be the go-to. read more

Came into the restaurant. Was ignored by three different staff members instead of being greeted and shown to a table. Left.

Was pleasantly surprised. Never been to Iron Works before not sure why it's local. Me and the wife stopped in mid afternoon on a Thursday. The bartender was friendly and the staff seemed enhanced. Nice appearance seemed to be very clean. I had smoked wings and my wife had a very nice looking salad with roasted vegetables and feta both were a little different than what you get at most places but were great. We look forward to going back soon for dinner. Compliments to the Iron Works Team! read more

As a lifelong student of history, I always enjoy a restaurant that pays tribute to its local community and legacies. The atmosphere here at the Iron Works Tavern is very cool, and the designers did a masterful job creating a clean, upscale feel around a tribute to an industry that was as dangerous and dirty as they come. The old portraits of iron workers hanging throughout the building prove it. (I suppose there is irony in that, but then that would also be a pun, and I choose to avoid both.) The food, too, is exceptional. I give high praise to the Whole Fried Clams and chowders -- on this night they offered both an original RI style chowder and a creamy New England style -- and all was excellent and as good as you will find anywhere in the state. (The fries were handmade, overcooked, and a tad crunchy -- but no points off as I know many people prefer them this way.) And if you go, leave room for dessert. The Banana French Toast dessert I enjoyed, though heavy after such a big meal, was both unique and incredible. The only thing preventing a five-star rating here was the service. The place was not full, yet looked to be woefully understaffed, and our waitress doubled as the bartender. She hustled her tail off, but it didn't prevent her apologizing for the kitchen falling behind and for our dessert taking a half hour -- or for fouling up our check (in our favor.) I had a great view of the kitchen and there were many wonderful entrees coming out that caught my eye. We look forward to a return visit. read more
