Iris Mechanical has done an AMAZING job with my AC-install project. From the start, they have been prompt, informative, and have carefully listened to what I'm asking for, as a customer. They helped educate me about the various options available for my house, explaining the pros and cons, and exploring solutions for the temperature imbalances I have in the various rooms. Their price estimates were very reasonable, with detailed breakdowns of options I can choose. I ended up having them replace my 50-year-old asbestos ductwork (with permits), and install for me a heat pump in dual-fuel configuration, so that we can have energy efficiency most of the time, but still get toasty gas heat in the winter. They never tried to upsell me, and the heat pump we chose is cost-effective and quiet, while being more than enough for my home. The work itself was carried out efficiently and respectfully, with a lot of attention to detail, and finished ahead of schedule. In addition to the 10 year equipment and 3 year labor warranty, they offered 1 year of free maintenance. After the install, they have continued to be very responsive, returning several times to help rebalance and optimize airflow between the rooms, and to troubleshoot and fix any remaining noise issues. Outstanding service from start to finish! Our air conditioning suddenly stopped working, and we became even more concerned after another technician had visited our home because our upstairs system completely stopped working afterward. What impressed us first was the company's responsiveness. We contacted Iris Mechanical around midnight, and they responded almost immediately. Instead of making us wait, they asked what appointment time would be most convenient for us and scheduled us for the very next morning. That level of customer service was truly outstanding. Kay arrived on time and was exceptional. He spent over an hour carefully inspecting both of our HVAC systems. He patiently checked the electrical connections, refrigerant level, and air vents, and even stayed to monitor the systems to make sure everything continued working properly before leaving. He discovered that the problem was not a major mechanical failure. The power disconnect had been removed and had not been reinstalled, so the outdoor unit was not receiving power. Once that was corrected, both systems worked normally. What impressed us the most was Kay's honesty and professionalism. He never tried to sell us unnecessary repairs or replacement parts. One of the rare contractors that actually does things right, I wholeheartedly recommend Iris Mechanical. I was looking for a licensed HVAC company to remove a 1950s gas floor furnace. Multiple companies had looked at it over the years, but no one wanted to deal with it. When I had a modern HVAC system installed, the company I hired promised (in writing) that they'd take care of the old furnace--but later backed out, saying the job was more complicated than expected. After waiting several more years, I tried again--this time using a mix of Yelp picks and a referral from a friend. Many companies simply didn't reply. Some seemed uninterested, and I got the sense that the few who were willing would probably butcher the area around the furnace in the process. Iris Mechanical immediately stood out. Unlike other companies that either pushed a full HVAC install or blindly claimed they could handle the removal, Nikita asked for more photos and explained how the furnace was likely framed into the house during original construction. He walked me through several possible approaches for removal. It was clear this was a company that takes real care in their work, rather than just "hacking and slashing" through a job like so many contractors I've dealt with. Nikita came by the next day to assess the job in person, gave me a reasonable estimate, and then took care of it that same day with Alex. We decided to drop the furnace into the crawlspace rather than open up more of the wall to pull it out. From the start, the attention to detail was impressive. Even during the estimate visit, Nikita wore shoe covers inside. They laid down drop cloths to keep things clean, worked efficiently, and were careful to avoid any damage to the floor and wall around the furnace. After the removal, they added temporary framing, sealed the hole with plywood, and used weatherproofing tape to prep the space for the flooring and wall contractors. As another reviewer said, this was one of the best--if not the best--experiences I've had with a contractor. The owners clearly care about both the quality of their work and how it's done. A lot of contractors just want to "get it done" quickly without thinking about collateral damage, but Iris Mechanical treated the project like it was their own home. Payment was simple. I received an invoice right away, along with photos of the finished work for my records. Super convenient and professional. Even though this was a relatively small job, I plan to use them for future projects and maintenance. My friend, who was here during the work, was also impressed and is planning to hire them for his own place. Quick response and honest assessment from Iris Mechanical on my AC cooling issue. Coordinated with Helen over the phone after a short exchange on yelp messages to schedule a diagnosis next day. Technician came out and addressed a straight forward airflow issue that got us running again. Since we didn't parts or added time he didn't charge us anything extra past the diagnostic. He let us know the refrigerant charge was getting low but not needed yet so we'll be calling them back for that service before the summers out if this heat holds up. Highly recommend. read more

Have to convert all the apartments from gas wall furnaces to minisplit eventually.
