I forgot to write my review! I have been here a few times and every time i go here i have such a great experience. I was just here again last week. First off, the staff is awesome! They are always so nice and always greet you with a smile. Once you sit, the owner and staff try their best to make sure you have everything you need and are kept up on drinks. And if you a drinker, you have have have to get the sangria! Omg it is sooooo good! Ok next talk, meat! Get the rodizio! Its a bunch of skewered meats that are cooked over their grill. They bring each meat out and slice it right in front of you. From chicken wings to lamb, filet to skirt steak, all done different ways. My favorite is the bacon wrapped filet. I think it was filet.....Or sirloin, whatever cut it was, it was fantastic. Im weird, they have one of chicken hearts....also one of my favs. Skirt steak with parmesean.....mmmm! Then at the end you get warm grilled pineapple dusted with cinnamon! Im getting hungry just writing about it. I highly suggest this place. I was looking for something unique to do for my sons birthday. I came across this restaurant relatively close to home. After reading the menu the rodizio should have been an all you can eat, priced per person. This was not my experience. Once our party went through the first round of meats, the meats, for the most part stopped coming. We had 2 waiters ask if there was anything in particular we were waiting for. After the second waiter I asked the same question I asked for the check. The 1st waiter informed our waitress what we were waiting on. Another 15min went by then the one in charge informed us that we had all 13 meats available, at this point I was fed up and I once again asked for the check! At about $46 a pop, it's a bit salty for the area, but it's a real treat. The meats are perfectly seasoned and cooked, however, I would have preferred straight filet, instead of bacon wrapped which is a total distraction from filet. The lamb was delicious with a nice Rosemary seasoning and the buffet was nice. Now "Hearts of Palm" made my day on the buffet. The Sangria was refreshing. Definitely worth a once in awhile treat. At $35.95, I'd be back on a more frequent basis. Humm, perhaps a coupon for $10 your meal after you paid the $45.95 ot $46.95 price valid for 3 months would be worth a shot. read more

Rodizio must translate to "carousel of meat". Wonderful Place. They wheel out like 12 different kinds of meat. They take them out one at a time and cut a piece for everyone. They will continue doing this until you cry for mercy out of sheer joy. Good drinks. Guarana soda too. Last course of the rodizio is fried pineapple. My fiance is an original customer of this restaurant and ate there countless times. He is very friendly with the two owners. Due to personal reasons he hadn't eaten there in over a year and finally went a couple of days ago with one of his adult sons. Although greeted very warmly and welcomed back he was slightly disappointed in the menu changes that have occurred. The short ribs and the pork ribs are no longer served with the Ridizio. The turkey-wrapped bacon is now done with chicken and is not as good. Also, the meat lacked a lot of the seasoning it used to have and he now found it rather bland. Furthermore, the price for the Ridizio has now almost doubled. All in all a rather disappointing dining experience there compared to what he was used to in the past. read more

This was the second time we ate and the food was great. BUT we went with a party of five and asked them to split the bill. They split the bill wrong (three ways, when we asked for it to be split two ways) and added a 20% gratuity to each bill. I can understand the gratuity for parties of eight or more, but five of us is ridiculous. Will not be returning. read more

Birthday dinner. The night was cold, and the parking lot was 99% full. I dressed up, but there were patrons in jeans and sweaters. There were 2 children, but the rest of the patrons were adults, and most of them were large groups (6+) seated at tables. We did not have reservations on Saturday night, so we sat at the bar, which turned out to be a great situation. I'm fluent in Portuguese, and I had a fantastic time chatting with the servers as they stopped at the bar. I came out of the dining experience with new friends and a strong desire to come back as soon as possible for the outstanding food and the incredibly friendly service. When they mysteriously found out it was my birthday (cough cough husband after a few caipirinhas) they turned the lights off and brought me out a passion fruit mousse (mousse de maracuja!) with a candle in it and "Happy Birthday" drawn on the plate in strawberry jam. The people, from the ever-smiling bartender Thailane to the endless meat carvers were so remarkably friendly, I couldn't stop smiling. I cannot stress enough how sweet the staff is, and dining here will not only fill you up but *cheer* you up as well! I ate as many meats as I could, which were fabulous and worth the price, but I also really enjoyed the salads bar. The pao de queijo (cheese bread rolls) were delicious, and the variety of upscale veggies was enjoyable, particularly the palm hearts (a Brazilian classic!) and the asparagus. I also recommend the manchego and other hard cheeses that were out for the taking, as they complement the meats so well. For dessert, my favorite is the passion fruit mousse (10 stars!), but I think the chocolate cake was also the best I've ever had. Sure, I'm nostalgic for Brazilians and Brazilian food, but my husband who is not very adventurous but loves his meat and potatoes said this was the best dining experience he's ever had. Try the guarana soda with your dinner too; it tastes like blueberries, and it's a nice bit of pep if you're feeling sluggish after a huge meal! The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly! The sangria was fantastic! All the servers were very friendly and sweet. But some things that bothered me were the boxed mashed potatoes and the other sides on the buffet were nothing spectacular. What standards do you have to give this place 5 stars, or even 3 or 4? If this is a steakhouse, how does it compare to other steakhouses? How is their service? Does everyone order the SAME thing when here? Is it more of a Buffet or a sit down Steakhouse with an amazing wine list? Unfortunately, from the reviews posted here, my expectations were extremely high. Sadly, Scranton doesn't have much to offer, but I don't' think that should factor into a star rating. Let's get real. 1. The location is great. Good parking on the side and easily accessed from major roads. 2. The interior is small - very small. The lighting is dark, but that is expected - and welcomed - as the interior leaves much to be desired when it comes to decor. 1980's? Needs to be refreshed and updated. 3. The bar offerings are sparse and there are not many choices of ales or wine to go with steak. 4. Wine list? What wine list? 5. Once we ordered we were told we could go up to the salad bar. Is this a buffet? A buffet for $40? 6. Our group ordered the Rodizio; as it appears did everyone else in the restaurant. I have had rodizio before, so I assumed this should be much like what we had in the past. Unfortunately, this was more like a haphazard attempt to keep walking around with meat and cutting shavings off to your plate. The meats were okay, nothing that you can't get in any grocery store. Some of the spices were good, but some of the cuts also were gamey. The sausage I had was gritty and seemed like there was some dirt or sand in it. The best part of the night was the company we were with. The Rodizio expererience isn't new to me... you get a card and flip it to green and they bring you endless grilled meats until you flip it to red. I grew up in New York City and have had it all over this country. Platiforma in NYC and the Fogo de Chao are perhaps the two most memorable. With that I wasn't expecting much when one opened up in a little place in Scranton. I was quite shocked to find that they had three particular cuts that are offered up in their Rodizio... the rib eye, the garlic covered sirloin and the skirt steak that are by far, better than any other place i've been to. (If the chicken hearts are cooked right, those are a little bizarre but excellent as well). The buffet is nothing like the big rodizio places but to be honest, their steaks are so good (and they will cook them however you like. I prefer mine Rare... not medium rare and they bring me perfectly Rare!) that i would rather not fill up on the buffet. The price is also half of what the big name rodizio's offer up so don't worry about the side buffet. come for the meat. This place isn't just really good for scranton. This would be a really good restaurant compared to any of my favorite old haunts in NYC read more

The environment is really nice as far as decor and lighting and all the employees were very nice and sociable. I had the stuffed flounder which was good but I've had better. It lacked seasoning and there was way too much filling compared to the size of the flounder. My boyfriend had the rodizio and he wasn't completely happy with it. Most of his complaints were about the meat being dry, not tender, and lacking seasoning. This seems more like the type of place to go if you're planning to get tipsy with friends to make up for the mediocre food. read more

I will go back the next time I am in Scranton, because dinner at Ipanema grille was wonderful. We made a reservation (as previous reviewers recommended) and were seated immediately. The Brazilian drinks were great (there were 3 of us... one had the Brazilian beer, one sangria, and one the rum and lime cocktail). Instead of the mixed grill dinner (which many were enjoying!) one of us had the skirt steak, one the salmon, and one the chicken and sausage dish - we wanted to share - and did.... Every dish was terrific. The sides were substantial and tasty. We finished with the Nutella crepe and coffee. Just can't say enough good things. Maybe a bit pricy for Scranton (total cost was about $40 each, including drinks) but the food was excellent, the service attentive (but not too much), and the result was a night we won't soon forget. It is a small place - maybe 15 tables, and the outside isn't particularly impressive. But make reservations and go... You'll be treated well and leave ready to make plans to return... Have eaten here twice. Good meats! I am no expert on Brazilian cuisine but I would assume it's relatively authentic as the owners are Brazilian. We didn't really do too much of the salad bar but the meat was awesome. Service was quick and price was reasonable. After experiencing a Brazilian rodizio restaurant in Myrtle Beach SC, I was hoping for the same experience. The parking lot was packed and so was the restaurant when we walked in. There were 4 of us and sat quickly because of a reservation. However, the buffet selection was small and the meat wasn't great. Every piece of meat that was brought to our table was smothered in SALT! We couldn't even enjoy the meat because they were all too salty. The filet was wrapped in bacon...terrible mistake. I wanted to taste the filet, but I tasted salty bacon meat. The turkey was also wrapped in bacon. I don't know why they would rub so much salt on the meat. It felt like I just licked a salt lick meant for a deer. The only thing we enjoyed was the cold water and beer and also the grilled pineapple for dessert. We won't be going back. Get rid of the salty meat!! read more

What an awesome place. My wife and I were the newbies with 5 other people. Never been to anyplace like this. The food was superb, and if you leave hungry, its your own fault. The meat just keeps coming till you tell them to stop. Some of the best beef I have ever had, and the Lamb was fantastic as well. I didn't eat much at the buffet, but the spicy rice and the black beans were an excellent side dish. The salad bar looked nice and fresh, but for me it was all about the MEAT. The pitchers of Sangria are the perfect thing to wash down all that meat. The pineapple at the end was a pleasant surprise. Wasn't sure how much I would like warm pineapple with cinnamon on it, but it was an excellent palate cleanser with a pleasant flavor. Service was very friendly, and you don't feel rushed to hurry up and get out. Very attentive staff, they make you feel welcome. We will definitely be back. Not one bad thing to say read more

Wonderful! My boyfriend and I went there on our anniversary and the food was great! There is not a lot of choices on the menu if you're not a fan of fish but there are a few chicken and other meat dishes. The Rodizio is what to get. It is pricey but worth it! The Rodizio comes with the buffet but I recommend not filling up on much of the buffet because you'll want room for the meats they bring out. The meats were EXCELLENT and each one had different seasonings. My boyfriend and I highly recommend the sangria to drink, it was the best I'd ever had and we ended up getting two pitchers of it. If you have any room left they offer some good desserts as well. The service was great and everyone was friendly. It was our first time there and we are going to make plans to take my parents there when they visit. read more
