Don't do it. I've been driving by this place for years and was very curious and thought I should know why its been there so long..........still don't know! It is bad. Came here for my first dine-in buffet experience in CA since the pandemic. They're doing a decent job reopening, using disposable plates and utensils. The food was tolerable; I didn't think it was necessarily disgusting compared to some of the prior reviews, but there was not anything noteworthy. The main dish I did rather enjoy was the jalapeno chicken, which was crispy and sweet. The fruit tasted fresh and fine. Their salad bar is actually better than I would have expected with a decent variety. The sushi bar is almost nonexistent asides from some California rolls and 1-2 okay buffet-quality nigiri. Dessert options were disappointing, consisting of pre-bought pastries & cakes. This is an - okay - place if you're looking for a cheap buffet. I rated this a 3 instead of 2 stars because I appreciate their effort to be one of the first buffets to reopen dine-in safely. Okay this buffet is LEGIT!!! I came here with my dad in between watching my niece's basketball games at Schurr. It just opened at 10 and we were the first ones there and they were still putting food out. Everything was pretty solid and they kept putting out more good stuff like crab legs, fried crab, sushi and walnut shrimp! There was various soups, a fresh salad bar with green beans and asparagus and a bunch of seafood (clams, crawfish, oysters), chicken wings and prime rib! There was just so much to eat and not enough room. There was also dessert - ice cream, pastries, fresh fruit and jello! This wasn't your typical average buffet that had semi decent food - everything was fresh and tasted great. And it was only $11.99, $10.99 for seniors. I think its cheaper on a weekday. I was really impressed and surprised by the quality of food. It was better than Kirin which is like $24.99 or Zen that is about the same price. Great food and even better prices. My brother and I were craving Asian buffet style food, and found this place close to the hotel he was staying at. This was a Thursday night. At first sight it looked a bit quiet inside, but then i noticed other cars parked on the other side and in numerous other areas. Upon walking in we were seated right away. The waiter asked for our drink order. Drinks are an additional charge, not part of the buffet price. My brother had the Horchata, while I had a water. There are definitely a lot of options to choose from here. I tried the potstickers, chicken wings, orange chicken, fish patties, muscles, chow mien, seaweed salad, and crab meet salad. I had way more that what's listed, but I completely forgot to take pic of my plates as a reminder. Everything was fresh and tasty as it should have been. I think this is also due to the high foot traffic in the buffet, therefore forcing them to continuously refill the different items. The sushi section is almost non existent. If you're going here for the sushi, please reconsider and go elsewhere. There were probably 5 different rolls, and just the generic types. You won't be impressed. You've been warned. The same goes for dessert items. If you want more than some cookies, go somewhere else too. The service was similar to other buffets. I've been coming here as a kid since I was raised in montebello, it was my go to spot with my family. We moved away years ago and my mom and I were in the area so we decided to stop by to reminisce. The food here used to be delicious and good quality but now it's pretty disgusting and cheap for the price you pay ($46 for TWO people and a child.) The waiters were pretty rude from the beginning. The worst part of it all was when a creepy cook came from the back and kept watching me as I got up to serve myself. I didn't think of it much until he kept passing by our table and would smirk and stare at me, he also kept waving at me even though I didn't know him. He wouldn't even hide it so it started making me uncomfortable. He sat behind my family and he then moved to a table in front of us (picture below) and would keep turning his head to look at me. I told my mom and we asked to speak to a manager, she basically shrugged it off and told us she would speak to him but I just heard them laughing. On closer inspection the secret to it's juiciness and high proportion of fat to protein is that the cut is actually brisket. If you can, get it when it's fresh or request a fresh piece from the kitchen. The beef, the string beans, and the decent buffet fried rice are the only foods my wife puts on her plate. Everything else is just meh. To appreciate what this restaurant has to offer you must abandon traditional notions and expectations of the buffet. Appreciate it for what it is and forget what it isn't. Just come for the signature beef; anything else you may enjoy is just a bonus. It's a pretty good Chinese food buffet. It does have a small selection of "American" food like pizza and fries for the picky eaters so your covered. They accommodated our very large party and we got there at 11am this Friday. I would say the food is what you would expect at a Chinese buffet, good selection with veggie, fruit and dessert bar. I had no complaints. The staff was also very helpful. Kept the tables clean and beverages refilled. Yes there is a sign at the tables to be charged if you waste food, but I'm going to be on their side. Don't waste it! People hate on these places but I've always had a soft spot in my heart for them, they remind me of the good old days before I knew what love was and was fat and happy. I love a lot of the stuff people think is weird and gross at these places and have an affinity for them. But this is probably the worst one I can think of. Basically I go here when I absolutely hate myself. Which unfortunately has happened quite a few times. It's directly on the way home for me form work and the easiest place for me to get in and out of when I'm going home and want to gorge myself for $10. But yeah....it's really gross. I read some of the other reviews and most of them were complaining about the service, which I agree is bad, but that's the least of their problems. I mean it is filthy in there, which I guess is service related, but the main issue is that the food sucks. Every time I've come here I've walked around in circles thinking somehow magically, something I actually like will appear, but out of the 50+ items they have, i only could eat like 4. Not sure how long this place has been open but the booths are definitely from that era and have clearly not been kept up over the years. The booth next to me was playing music or if the music was just being played at an extremely low volume. Options were limited and lacked flavor. Just when I thought the soft serve would make up for the lackluster meal I consumed, I was completely disappointed in what came out of that machine. You know when you make instant hot chocolate at home, and it says to just add water? Imagine pouring half the hot chocolate packet into a mug and adding 3 times the suggested amount of what. I was starving when I walked in a tried to eat their food and left disappointed . I was too embarrassed to walk out after trying some of the food but honestly I should of done it anyway. The rice was super dry with a dull flavor, the what I believe was pulled pork had so much fat and it was dry, even their ice cream was disappointing by how watered down it was. **WARNING** ****FOOD SAFETY **** I have to admit that I've been here on more than one occasion (couple times in the past 2 years). I was introduced to the place by a few of my coworkers. OK, it's cheap and it's a buffet so we could eat and get out of there to be back @ work in a timely manner. The whole place is always packed and it gets so hot in there. After an experience which occurred on 12/10/2010.. I have made my decision to NEVER come here again. I came here with 5 of my coworkers and one of them was eating her noodles and saw that some sort of insect had been cooked with it! I don't know what it was but it had wings?! She's usually the type to never speak up or want any kind of confrontation, but she went to grab one of the servers. The server went to grab another woman who came to our table and admitted that they just had an EXTERMINATION the night before and some of the insects must have fallen into the equipment. But assured us that "all the bugs are dead." WHAT?!? uhhh yea. This place got a "B" rating.....
