The ramen is good but it's not on my top ten of best ramens in NJ, it ends up being like $16 for ramen per person which isn't horrible but in my opinion is a little much for the quality. The egg and chicken in the ramen were cold which I figured is normal since they have everything pre made but still it just didn't taste right. I always "build my own" rice bowl ($12.50) with: - Rice: Multi-grain rice - Protein: Fresh salmon - Toppings: Tamago, edamame, seaweed salad, and ginger (I used to add masago instead of ginger and just get a little sauce container of ginger on the side at no additional cost, but they charge extra for masago now and have added ginger to the toppings section) - Flavor: Teriyaki sauce and spicy mayo - Crunch: Tempura flakes and sesame seeds I've been coming here for over 2 years and my bowl comes out perfect every time! The broth was enjoyable and the popcorn chicken was delicious, the noodles themselves however were a step above maruchen ramen. Service wise, the staff was very friendly, and also it's important to remember this is a fast casual place so you're getting the atmosphere/food of a fast casual spot! To be honest, this place is right between a 3 and 4 but falls to a 3 simply because, though the apps are great, the main star (the ramen) is a bit of a disappointment. There is a good amount of indoor seating. This place is located in downtown Somerville so you will have to find parking somewhere else and walk to the restaurant. I took a star away because the rice was really chewy and almost stale tasting, so it made it hard to eat. Their fries however, were amazing! We preferred the chicken over the shrimp. The buns themselves were as good as what we had in Vietnam last year! They are an absolute must! We also had edamame and two lemonades. Eh. Tried a shrimp tempura poke bowl with "multigrained" rice, edamame, sesame seeds, and mango. It wasn't my favorite. The shrimp tempura was good just not enough in comparison to other ingredients in the bowl. The mango was hard and dry and not bite sized piece like everything else. The rice was purple, why?, lol. Of course I decided to drop by and have another. This time I ordered the American Dream Roll: Spicy tuna, cucumber, guacamole, mango, lettuce, tempura flakes and spicy mayo. Everything mixed together quite well and I was surprised I enjoyed the butter lettuce as much as I did. It provided a great crunch which contrasted the mushy texture of most of the other ingredients. The fish was pretty fresh, but it's not like this was straight up sashimi so the quality could be masked by the other fillings. I'm not mad at it though, for $10 it's a decent deal. I bet this would fill me up just as much or maybe even more than $10 worth of spicy tuna rolls would. This time I also tried the pork baos. They were alright. I didn't quite like the bun much as it was a little cold. The pork was decent but not quite as tender and flavorful as I would've liked. The toppings were plentiful and it looked quite appetizing. Though at $7 for 2 I'd skip these next time. At my first visit I have the Confucius Nachos which were pretty good, but I think I'd add a few more dollars for another sushi burrito instead. The restaurant itself is pretty clean though I wish it were better lit. They do have outdoor seating though and there is a nice park across the street if you prefer to eat there. I'm glad to learn that they have locations closer to me as I wouldn't mind visiting for a sushi burrito now and then. read more

I came to inspiration roll for lunch with a couple friends who have eaten here before. I wasn't sure was to expect I was told Mexican meets Japanese and was curious how they made it work, figured rice was a simple meeting point but what else. The sushi burritos were pretty good. The one I ordered stayed together well enough but did take a little maneuvering to make sure it didn't fall apart, i could have been that it was fill up with a lot of fish and filling so it wasn't a bad thing. I really liked the quotes on the walls. I spent some time walking around and from the pictures just reading them. It's a cute idea and I got the name pretty quickly. They serve lots of rice (I chose purple), but barely much salmon. My daughter had Tonkotsu Ramen, and it was just oKay. The presentation looked great (see photo) but the raw Enoki mushroom could not be fully cooked in the warm broth. Also ramen texture was way off almost tasted like instant noodle. By the way, they lost lots spoons from ignorant customers throwing in the trash are now oNlY offer plastic spoons for ramen. Upon arrival, staff is unfriendly and anything but engaging. Could not even provide recommendations or fan favorites. The only reason for the stars was the food. The spicy tonkotsu was okay, not very spicy and lacked a bit of flavor. The pork belly in it was mostly fat though. The edamame was very salty. The pork steam buns were actually very good with a lot of flavor. However, with that said, that "restaurant" only has plasticware to eat with... so eating ramen with a plastic spoon was a bit of a challenge in itself. Looove this place! At first I was skeptical with the whole fusion thing. But the meals are so creative and combines things I never thought would be great together. Some of my favorites: Keller Rice Bowl - 18 bucks seems like a lot but so worth it! Instead of getting 3 rolls of sushi, just get this! It has all the basic ingredients: tuna, spicy tuna, imitation crab, shrimp, seaweed. The Confucius Nachos are mind blowing. Never thought JapMex is a thing, but the nachos with sushi toppings are just out of the box and it's freakin delicious. The Pork buns are great appetizers. I like that they use chasu for their pork. That little bit of fat makes all the difference compared to a regular pork bun. The Ramen is also good but I've only tried the Original Tonkotsu, which is more on the traditional side, so nothing extraordinary about it compared to the other dishes. But not saying that's a bad thing. It's still great ramen. read more

I've ordered here before and it's about a 50/50 chance they'll get your order right or get it to you at all. Out of the four times I've ordered, once the delivery guy actually left my order at the wrong door. He didn't call my cell and just left it outside someone's door when they wouldn't open after he knocked. This time I ordered 2 ramen and was only given one. That being said, their ramen is the only one in the area and while it's not earth shatteringly good, it does hit the spot when you want ramen.
