Great food with service to match. Even though it was close to the end of the night, the staff still welcomed us and didn't rush us at all. Well done!

Still my go-to, Ani Ramen in Montclair remains reliably tasty. Beautiful al dente noodles; finger-licking edamame; a rich, thick, spicy miso broth; and just yummy seared chicken were the highlights of my most recent visit. It was busy and packed at 7:30p a rainy, cold Saturday night, but my party of 2 got seated right away at the last table in the house. My spicy miso was excellent: although the noodles had overcooked by a minute, the crisp cabbage and alliums brought texture, and I'm subbing their chicken for pork belly every time now. I was less impressed by the chef's special ramen: the broth was definitely on the thin side, and finished briny, lacking umami. Service was a bit scattered. It took awhile for them to roll around to take our drink order; long enough that we had time to settle on drinks, apps, and entrees beforehand. I paid in cash (their receipt beseeches you not to pay by credit card) and they didn't give me all the coins needed to fully make change. Overall, nothing deters me from coming back the next time I'm in the mood for ramen.

Second time I come to this place. Once last year and on Jan 4. Served by Michael C, who was pleasant. Honestly, I find Ani Ramen House expensive. I feel the eggs and mushrooms should be included in the broth's price. For the starter broth depending on which you get, it is either $16.00 or $16.50. Then for an egg, 2 pieces of mushroom and 4pieces of shrimp, it's $2 each. I'm ok paying that for the shrimp, but for the egg and 2 mushrooms I think it's pricey. Those two items should be included. I thought Ramen came included with those. At least at two other places I've eaten at, which I'll review later when I visit them again. I opted for the brothless ramen (Mazemen) and it was just ok. The noodles were kind of tasteless. It needed the broth. My daughter ordered the Shoyu Ramen. She liked hers. So $50 for two bowls of soup. Expensive. I've paid less for more. Even in NYC. And what annoyed me most is that they charge a 3% processing fee for use of credit cards (not debit). This fee, which is becoming common, is annoying. Why not just increase the price to offset the charges? I've been to smaller establishments that are not chains that do not charge the fees. I don't plan to return to this establishment.

We were there for a quick bite with friends and it's in the busy downtown of summit. It's a big place and service is fast. The menu is extensive with many of the standard Japanese American offerings. You can get ramen which was decent. We also had some of the bins which were ok as well. If you are in summit and want a good quick bite bliss to the train station this is great.

This was the first time trying ANI Ramen as I had a craving today and a DoorDash deal I had to use. I got the shift special Ramen and it was very flavorful.. I also got a side of the pork buns, which were very delicious. Probably better if I ate there obviously but I expected that overall it was a very solid experience.

What's my favorite. Vegan with Chicken. Nice and hot and noodley, service is attentive and quick. Chicken wing appy and that will do it. A ramen for everyone and plenty of add on's. Definitely the ramenplacetobe.

The broth was really flavorful but i took a star off because the soup was not super hot when it got to the table, since it was a cold night. Don't forget to order the fried kimchi on the side! It was SO delicious! The waiter/waitress that night were not super attentive as it was not a busy night. I was hoping the service would be a little bit better.

I have been misled by all of the rave reviews. This is one of the worst ramen I have ever eaten in my life. Service was abysmal. If they have checked on me, I would have told them that the pork belly was missing from my expensive $17 ramen. For $17 it portions should be larger or food should be tastier. It was not well seasoned. There was no flavor. There was no balance. It was really meh. RIP to my tastebuds. I ordered the chef special and I really wish I would have just starved tonight. Ambiance: children throwing tantrums and parents not parenting.

Great service and family friendly environment. The wings were the selling point for me. The ramen nice and flavorful. I took a star off due to prices. $17 for a bowl of ramen and $12 for 4 wings is honestly steep. I also paid 2 extra bucks for a side of enoki mushrooms. Not sure it's worth it.

I have tried a lot of ramen in New Jersey and this place definitely hits the spot of with their short rib ramen. It was so good. My only gripe you have to add egg to the ramen which I never heard of not even in Japan. The service was good. BYOB so bring the Sapporo beer to pair with your ramen. The place is a good size and okay to accommodate big parties. Parking is available on the street. Overall a good spot.

This place caught my eyes as an asian…read morerestaurant in the area and relatively good ratings, but felt that everything was pretty average. I went with a group of 3 and all ordered ramen and the karaage appetizer, but the karaage was just slightly crispy and barely had any flavor, the sauce really saved that dish but definitely would pass on that dish. All 3 ramens were average. The pork cha shu was tender though which was the highlight, but overall broth was pretty standard. Particularly my miso ramen didn't have that much flavor. Service and staff was a bit slow, but food came out pretty fast. Overall not bad, but will probably give this place another go sometime and try some of the other dishes.

My son's katsu is super hot and crunchy (he said he doesn't want to eat it prior the food come, and ate 1/2 of the chicken!!) that means did you great!!! Rice was a little hard to be honest and corn was ok.. I kinda put them in my ramen.. the black ramen was good.. lots of spinach and thick piece of pork (chasiu).. soup was thick but not too thick!! Noodle was cool perfectly.. only thing is I have to pay to get the egg, but it was cook perfectly!! My son agree since he ate the entire egg.. would definitely come back again.. I wonder if it would get super busy at lunch time since they don't have too many tables (10 maybe), they might be a line out the door.. but 11:30 was a great time!! We ordered the duck bao buns, which were very bland, served without any sauce, and one even had a bone in it. We also ordered the pork belly ramen and seafood ramen, seafood ramen priced at $28 . Unfortunately, these were served in a way that felt unsanitary, with the waitress's thumb touching the plates and inside the bowls. It was very strange and honestly pretty gross. The seafood ramen included crab legs, but we were never offered a crab cracker, and the scallops were overcooked. The broth was decent, but nothing mind-blowing or worth the price. The seating was also uncomfortable. They use high armchairs that felt awkward and impractical. On top of everything, I couldn't get a receipt because they had run out of paper, and I later realized I was double charged for the meal. The one positive is that our waitress was very nice and polite, but unfortunately that wasn't enough to make up for the overall experience. We won't be coming back.

Ani Ramen House's Cranford location is on the corner of Walnut and Chestnut on the ground floor of…read morethe apartments at The Albero. The main entrance is next to the kitchen, which is designed for food delivery and takeout operations. The L-shaped dining room wraps around the kitchen and offers an impressive amount of seating for 80 people with ample natural lighting. The interior decor follows the same rigid industrial wood and metal aesthetic that almost every new hipstery restaurant chain has subscribed to for the past decade. In case you've forgotten that ramen is Japanese, you'll also see neon signs on the walls illuminating some common Japanese phrases (although without furigana). Two gendered restrooms are located left of the kitchen in the far corner of the building and each have two stalls and one sink. I ordered the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen with a side of Chili Charred Brussels for takeout. I placed the order 30 minutes in advance and it was ready at the scheduled pickup time. The Chili Charred Brussels were about five halved sprouts that were steamed and lightly sauteed with a light sprinkling of mustard greens and pepper flakes. I actually enjoyed these more than the ramen I ordered, but they did not have much noticeable charring (or the caramelization that comes with charring). I had a very difficult time enjoying the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen, which is the first item on the ramen menu. The dry ingredients are packaged in the main serving bowl and the broth in a separate plastic takeout container for you to combine yourself. The main attraction of the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen is the three massive slabs of braised pork, which did not disappoint. I tried some of dry ingredients first before drowning them in liquid, although I could not find any bean sprouts. The noodles were slightly undercooked, possibly to compensate for the hot broth. Everything kind of went downhill after I added the shoyu broth. Although the shoyu did impart flavor to the meat and ramen, it was so overwhelmingly salty that it was completely undrinkable by itself. After finishing the noodles, I felt like I was sipping boiled dipping sauce. If chicken broth was in the mix, I certainly couldn't taste it. This is particularly concerning because half of the ramen menu contains this same shoyu tare, and will most likely be too overpowering for most people. In retrospect, I should have ordered the brothless mazemen ramen. The food preparation, while adequate, seemed a bit rushed based on what I ate. Perhaps 30 minutes was not enough lead time for the kitchen, or perhaps this is just how Ani Ramen makes its food. While I appreciate that Ani has helped make ramen more accessible in Central Jersey, it's probably not my first choice for ramen or any of the eclectic side dishes on the menu, e.g. brussels sprouts, kimchi, and gua bao (none of which are Japanese).
