I went to Insomnia Cookies in the Heights on a Sunday night after 10:30 pm with my wife when we were both craving something sweet. This location just opened a few months ago and is one of three in Houston. They're open until 3 a.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays, which makes them perfect for late-night dessert runs.
Insomnia Cookies has an interesting story. It started in 2003 when founder Seth Berkowitz was a college student at the University of Pennsylvania. Frustrated by the lack of late-night dessert delivery options, he started baking cookies in his dorm room and delivering them warm to friends. From that small idea, he created a national brand built around late-night snacking, opening the first store in Syracuse, New York in 2006. The company has since grown to over 200 stores, even launching nationwide shipping and a CookieLab concept in Philadelphia where guests can experiment with cookie creations.
The Heights location feels clean, modern, and friendly. Parking is shared with neighboring businesses in the small lot out front, and service was quick.

+Chocolate Chunk for $2.99 - A classic cookie, warm and gooey with melted chocolate chunks. - 4/5
My wife tried the Double Chocolate Chunk for $2.99 and called it "perfect." She rated it a 5/5, but I would need to try it for myself!
Overall, Insomnia Cookies is a welcome addition to the Heights for anyone with a late-night sweet tooth. Their menu includes cookies, ice cream, cookie cakes, and milk. I plan to return and try more cookies next time! read more
