In late January of 2025 I noticed some uneven shingle lines on the opposite side of the patio roof that Tobi and his team completed. From my previous post, Tobi assured us that the opposite side of the patio roofing was done correctly which is why he refused to redo the entire shingle work and just correct the area that was falling off (as seen in the pictures). I asked a 20+ year roofing professional to assess what I noticed and he confirmed that both sides were done incorrectly. There were areas with 3 nails per shingle or less and even some shingles with no nails at all. We chose to have the entire side (opposite side from which Tobi already corrected) re-roofed; including paper underlayment. Luckily there were no signs of water damage. This correction was north of $1,000 out of our pocket. My wife and I want everyone to know that we would not recommend Hill Country Outdoor Builders for any work moving forward. We are also starting to notice some loose paver stones on the end caps of our patio floor. Do your research with this company and ask a lot of questions before moving forward.

When I called the number that was posted on the trailer, I left a message explaining everything and a woman returned my call. To her credit she did ask how I was but after that she asked me if I had a video of it. Like seriously, I'm not a police officer I don't have a dash cam and furthermore, I don't have my phone at hand when driving. She then asked me what I would like and I told her I would like for y'all to fix it and make it right. She blamed it on rocks on the road and I told her the road was clear. It literally came out of your trailer but it happened so fast it caught me off guard, I didn't have time to react other than memorize the phone number on the back of the trailer. She was really rude, unhelpful and hung up on me. I thought about writing this out for a while because I was really upset and didn't want to do it that same day. I wanted my emotions to settle but I also thought that people should know that if this is how they treat people whom are informing them of something like this and them being rude and disrespectful, then maybe you wouldn't want to do business with them. It's very upsetting we love supporting local but will not support people like this.

Furthermore, we were quite disappointed by the representative's conduct during our meeting. He appeared disinterested, spent time scrolling through his phone while only vaguely acknowledging our conversation, and did not leave a business card. Due to this experience, we have decided to take our business elsewhere and no longer have any interest in working with your company.

His quote was very precise on exactly what was going to be purchased, the price, and the labor cost involved down to each plant, which is something the competing quotes were lacking. His team added a walkway going around from our driveway to the pool; excavated a rock wall to reduce the grade so we could get our golf cart around what was a narrow corner; trimmed up trees over and around the pool; added much needed drainage to reduce runoff; built the wall around the pump equipment, added the Zeon Zyosia grass, and did all the landscaping around the pool area. We are extremely happy with the end product and will use them again when our guest/pool house is completed to do the landscaping around it.

She brought out a brochure that showcased many different designs/styles. We chose some beautiful pavers and she was able to give us a price while she was there. We weren't sure between three colors. We were focused mainly on a combination of two of them, so she offered to bring out samples. When she brought the samples, we went with an entirely different color which looked beautiful with our brick home. Adding on to our existing concrete patio gave us a wonderful place for additional seating and placement of our fountain and barbecue. After a while, about 4 or 5 of the pavers started to settle. Stone Deck came out and temporarily removed them, added more base underneath them, replaced them, and made sure everything was level. We could not have been more pleased with their company.
