One stop shopping for primo eating and drinking good times…read more * * * Obsidian Brewery makes beer. I have no idea how the beer is. I may visit Obsidian Brewery time after time after time after time and never find out how their beer is. This is because a) They have an outstanding bar and b) They have an outstanding kitchen. For me, beer is a hardship beverage you drink when there is nothing else better available. When I go to a bar, I can sometimes be looking for mix-mastering. Usually I am looking for outstanding top of the line hard spirits. * * * When I walked into Obsidian, I looked at their bar. It was love at first sight. In front of me were twenty yards of three shelves of the most wonderful bottles I could possibly imagine. Half of them I had never heard of before. * * * I settled on a Buddha's Hand Gin. Buddha and Gin rarely appear in the same sentence Never mind the same label on a bottle. I ordered it straight up. I went immediately to Nirvana. Forget the meditation and the austerities. The Buddha's Hand Gin was as good as a trip to the Himalayas. Buddha's Hand is an obscure citrus fruit that grows multiple protuberances the way some horseradishes do. It is golden and looks like a hand. Ergo the name. The Buddha's Hand Gin is a citrus tinged gin with an edge more like orange zest than like orange juice. The additional botanicals make it strong, attention grabbing, fruity and yet combative. I was absolutely fascinated. Note that Buddha's Hand Gin is only one of the many items they have to explore there. I am totally ready to do more exploring. * * * The kitchen at Obsidian is also of distinction. The savvy local guide I came with adored his Thai Curry Wood Fired Rings. I went with a Cheesy Bread. This is open-faced grilled cheese on a thick slice of bread the size of a shoebox, with a wonderful homemade tomato sauce on about 1/3 of it. It is the best cheese pizza you have ever had. It is what cheese pizza is supposed to be if you don't use the standard canned ingredients that institutional providers sell to Domino's. I was as in love with my cheese bread as I was with my citrus gin. * * * The company was also outstanding. Which is just as well because Obsidian is a social place. Lots of Leanderthals having a fine time in couples and groups. This is not a loner's loser bar. You know - the dark rooms with misfits drinking their sixth beer while watching TV. This is a good folks good times full-of-sunlight place. So you definitely want to come with good folks. * * * Good food, good bottles, good people. And if you are feeling chipper, You can even have a homemade beer to celebrate.

I want to give the staff a shout out! Both bartenders last night were absolutely amazing!…read more We had the pepperoni pizza, Thai Pizza, and the lemon pepper wings extra crispy! Best of Texas not only helped us put it all together, but they executed it so well. They did a little bit of everything for us: stone work, repaired our fence, irrigation, planted sod & trees- all of it great. Every step of the way, they were prompt, responsive, and the quality of the work is just amazing. We really cannot recommend them more highly.

My personal background is one of a certified project manager, so I am trained in all project phases such as planning, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing. When I began the work relationship with this company, agreement was reached to ensure we both were on the same page for this project. Excellent customer service continued with the use of open communications. Each crew demonstrated impeccable skills throughout the many phases. It was refreshing to see time efficiencies as well as high quality standards within each phase of the work. Perfectly timed was the delivery of all heavy equipment and various materials. All my expectations were exceeded as I watched the details within the processes. I am most proud of all the crews employed with the end result of supporting many families. This project was a job well done and I am thrilled to be a referral for this company! L. Dickey

Arriving for our annual holiday dinner, Liberty Hill Beer Market was initially very accommodating…read morein seating our party of 13. Our waitress was attentive and organized, taking everyone's order carefully and efficiently. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill due to a clear lack of communication in the kitchen. Multiple times throughout the evening, one or two plates were brought to our table by different servers asking if anyone had ordered them. In each case, the food either belonged to another table or wasn't what anyone in our party had ordered. Two members of our group didn't receive their hamburgers until after everyone else had finished eating and plates were already being cleared. Our waitress returned to the table several times to apologize and explained that there were only two people working in the kitchen and that they were short-staffed, as they hadn't expected the restaurant to be so busy on a Monday night. While we appreciated her efforts and professionalism, it was disappointing to see the owner standing near the kitchen throughout the evening and never once coming to our table to acknowledge or apologize for the situation. Although the two extremely late meals were removed from the bill, most of us received our food at least 10 minutes apart, making it difficult to enjoy the meal together. Things have changed since the new ownership--some for the better--but the service this evening left a lot to be desired. After five years of celebrating together at LHBM, this visit was unfortunately not memorable in a good way. The experience was bad enough that it doesn't make us eager to return.
