This was the perfect place to chill and have some drinks and play games with my friends! The atmosphere was inviting and warm and laid back! Nice country music playing in the background too. My favorite part were the swings that were at the bar. So fun! The main bartender that took care of my party was awesome! Didn't catch his name. He recommended a delicious shot called the scooby snack - delicious! So neat that this place stays open till 2 AM Fridays! We stayed till almost midnight. What a great way to end the night with my husband and friends! 10/10 recommend!

We came for brunch/lunch time so I ordered a breakfast taco. The food came out very fast and the portions were very big. They didn't look the most appealing but they did taste pretty good, and we had plenty of food leftover. There is also an adjacent restaurant where I believe you can order food from as well. In that restaurant, there are a few arcade games inside. My toddler had a lot of fun playing outside in the lawn area and also was entertained with the arcades after he started getting antsy. All in all, its a fun chill place to bring the whole family and meet up with friends.

Rodney is incredibly talented - he's an amazing singer, and his music creates such a fun atmosphere. You can tell he has a following, too, because people genuinely come out specifically to hear him perform. We did have a bit of a service hiccup during our visit - we were brought the wrong bottle of wine and ended up waiting quite a while for the correct one. Thankfully, the live music kept us entertained while we waited! Live music like this adds something special that you just can't get from a playlist. I really hope Urban recognizes the value that talented musicians like Rodney bring to the restaurant and continues offering live music. Great food, a fun atmosphere, and great music make for a winning combination!

There is no / little air conditioning in this area and even the staff stood in front of a fan 10 steps away from us. The food was amazing! We had the lobster bites, risotto and trout. Everything was delicious! Unfortunately, the service was terrible. The bartender was the server in the area we were in. She brought us water and then disappeared for 15 minutes. I was watching as she was on a laptop doing inventory of the alcohol with a man calling out what was needed. Another waitress was at the hostess stand and waved and asked if we were alright and we said no one had taken our order. She went to the bartender and asked if our table was hers and she got up to come take it. Unfortunately, that was the last time we saw her until we were ready for the check and she only came then because I stood up to go get it from her.

My…read morefriend, who was building out the reservation, asked why we would need to be there for three hours, from 6 to 9 pm, before our next plan on our itinerary. By the end of the night, when we were rushing to make it to our 9 pm event, she understood. Whiskey Cake is one of those New American craft kitchens that has a great bar and consistently great food, even if it doesn't immediately blow you out of the park. I drank a few drinks here, starting with their Texas Barrel Aged Old Fashioned, made from Still Austin Bourbon, a honeysuckle liqueur, vanilla, and orange bitters. A really strong but full-bodied cocktail with a lot of great flavors at play. I drank a local Austin beer on tap that I'm suddenly blanking on off the draft, and ended the night with a Montucky Cold Snack combo with a small pour of bourbon (maybe 1792, don't quote me). We only ate appetizers and sharables while at Whiskey Cake. I'll try to run through everything we had: Local Goat Cheese Fondue: A uniquely sharp experience. The bread was fantastic, but I'm very particular on my cheese and decided goat cheese wasn't for me. Roasted Garlic Hummus: The pita bread rocks, and so did the hummus, which is the actual selling point of the dish. Fries & Friends: Literally a basket of fries and dipping sauces. Not bad at all, but I don't know what you would expect. Deviled Eggs: I can't truly get behind hard-boiled eggs for some reason, but if I don't perceive that it's a hard-boiled egg, I can imagine that these are killer. I really enjoyed this. Charcuterie Board: A little bit of this, a little bit of that. A really excellent collection. The cheddar, the sausage, the cured meats, and the honey were all standouts, and it is probably the best table appetizer to get if you're also getting a full meal. Just little snacks for everyone! We ended the night with some of their Whiskey Cake, which is absolutely delightful and is obviously what they are known for. The waitress that served us was fantastic and timely and super friendly. The atmosphere was generally very nice and led to good conversations and had a solid energy. Ultimately, Whiskey Cake impressed me for what it offers and what it can be. They also definitely got whiskey. Tons of whiskey.

We were able to change tables to accommodate more privacy. Casey was our server and so helpful. One of my family has dietary restrictions and Casey let us know the kitchen could rework almost anything to accommodate us. She also helped us get an order in before the happy hour ended. The artichoke dip well presented and good but not memorable. The old fashioned and margarita are excellent. For the main event I had the smoked pork chop. There is not a part of the dish I don't think was perfect. The chop, sauce, broccoli and slaw combined perfectly. I would say come back for this alone, but the tavern burger and chicken sandwich were great as well. The fries are crunchy on the outside and flaky inside. Grilled vegetables are an excellent side. You shouldn't leave without an order of the whiskey cake. "I only want a bite," doesn't exist. If you aren't very hungry start with dessert and add the main dish to go. Whiskey Cake has an exhaustive whiskey list and Wednesday has $7 pours which makes tasting easy. I hear brunch is excellent; I can't wait to try it.

Bartender was kind however the hutto hippo marg was not good in my opinion - I asked for don julio silver however my marg was definitely served with an unknown brown tequilla. We went to the patio - waitress was attentive but not too knowledgeable about the menu. We just ordered some apps and more drinks which is why we came. The queso flameado is fired up table side- seemed it didn't get fired up enough as it was hard to pull apart however flavor was on point . Not a fan of the salsa which came out before the food- very tomato forward. Bean and cheese nachos were decent - served constructed with 6 large chips. resturant is in a cute area and great view of the sunset but food and service could use some brushing up.

The way they cook the egg with the creamy, melted cheese inside makes every bite SO good. My husband ordered the Steak and Eggs, which is such a great deal at only $13.99. The steak was cooked perfectly and was actually really good quality, no tough or gross bites that you sometimes get when places use cheaper meat. Even their extra sides are really reasonably priced, which we appreciated. Then, while we were paying, our waitress asked if we wanted a free sample of a new tequila soft-serve ice cream they're testing out and will apparently be advertising soon. Of course we said yes! She gave us the mango and strawberry swirl, and it was SO good. It was creamy, delicious, and such a fun idea. I'd legitimately go back just for the ice cream! Between the food, reasonable prices, great service, and the surprise tequila soft-serve sample, this was one of the best dining-out experiences we've had in a long time. Highly recommend!

Ticked away in a little complex without 79 visibility along with a couple of other places that don't seem to get much traffic either. Finally made our first visit so we could try "the best fish & chips" in the Austin area. I was surprised how big it was, they have a patio, a bar area and lots of tables I was shocked as from the outside it looks tiny. Service was fantastic which was shocking with them closing soon. The service was enough to want me to go back hopefully for us in this area they end up somewhere close by as I know how hard it is to find good workers. Pretzels were good! Onion rings were our favorite! Their version of the Philly was just okay, was very plain with not much flavor hubby didn't even finish half. But the star of the show was the fish and chips. My son was over the moon! Couldn't even finish half of it and he wanted to haha. Sad to see they will be closing their doors but hopefully the owner has something else up his sleeve as they were onto something with this place.

We went yesterday afternoon and its a really nice property with tons of space. They have a cool stage area, a playground, several tables near the bar with view of the tv and some open inside space next to cornhole. I want to say they had about 8 of other breweries beers on tap (real ale bock and Pinthouse Scorpion Disco are the two I remember) and then they also had cocktails and 2 of their own beers: an amber, and then what I got: the tangerine cream ale. I thought it was pretty good which was surprising as usually, new breweries take a bit to get things figured out. It would be a solid beer for a warm day. The bartender was friendly and they also had a bbq truck on site that smelled delicious but we didn't have time to check-out this time. The only negative I'd say is there is zero inside space with A/C, its all open air. That's not a dealbreaker for me but as its only going to get even hotter, I'm curious how it will impact their business.

Our world shut down in Texas 3 weeks before our wedding date. I am giving The Union 1 star due to the fact that they were not willing to refund out deposits. I had to cancel my wedding due to Covid-19, as my fiancé's side is all from New York. On April 2nd, 2020, everything, including The Union, shut down. Based on the contract, this should have fallen into Force Majeure, for which I should have received all monies paid. However, I because I decided to hold onto the last large lump sum of my remaining balance, I "broke contract" and they will not be giving my any refund. Thank God I didn't pay the remaining balance because they would have kept that too. To be fair, The Union did offer to let us reschedule the wedding date at not cost, but given the current state of the country and travel restrictions, it's not worth the risk of endangering my loved ones. We would have considered rebooking when/if things got better, but the venue does not hold the same feeling it once did.
