Meh I judge a Mexican restaurant by their chips & salsa. First impressions, you know... They took us to a dirty table. I asked for it to be cleaned while I went to wash my hands. My friend was seated when I returned and the table showed no signs of being wiped down. Pools of water from the previous diners were still very visible. The chips & salsa were just blah. Not a fan, so I didn't eat them . But I guess it does help the waistline. House Margarita was good. White Cheese enchiladas (that's actually what they were called) were very good and I loved that I could order refried BLACK beans. Not many places offer that. Our server was great. The service was amazing our waiter was on point. The location was nice but absolutely no single inside, you have to connect to the WiFi. Now for the food. The beef fajita by itself was good but since it was mixed in the chimichanga it tasted bland. The rice was not good at all. The carnitas were good but needed more seasoning same with the Al Pastor. The carne guisada was ok but after the gravey was off the meat itself it was extremely hard and dry. The Queso was the highlight of the entire thing and the service as well. I really enjoyed this place! Went for lunch and got the Taco plate at the bar. #delish The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Went back same day for dinner and had a great experience. I ordered the crispy taco plate, a small bowl of menudo, and an Arnold Palmer. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and the food came out quickly, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the meal itself was disappointing. The salsa was very thick and overly salty. The Arnold Palmer tasted watered down and had very little flavor. The beans and rice were served cold, lacked flavor, and the rice was undercooked. The beef in the crispy tacos was extremely salty and had very little cheese. The menudo was also bland, and the hominy was overcooked and mushy. The service was good, but the food quality just wasn't there during this visit. I was really hoping for a better experience. They do have live mariachi some nights which can be a little loud for kids but I appreciate them trying to create an entertaining atmosphere. We got there at 12 noon, they were not busy , maybe 4 couples, in the whole place. There was 5 ppl in our group, our food didn't come out until 1:26pm. 1 hour and a half later. My partner and I have been here several times. It seems that each time we go, it gets a little worse. We went to breakfast today. I ordered a create your own omelette and told the waiter what ingredients I wanted in my omelette. Unfortunately, the kitchen decided to send me what they decided I want, and not what I actually ordered. There was only one other occupied table in the whole restaurant, yet trying to find wait staff in the dining room was impossible. They were disappearing into the kitchen and staying there for 5 minutes or more, leaving no one in the dining room. When I sent my omelette back to be made the way I asked for it to be made, it took almost 15 minutes for the replacement to arrive. While the waiter apologized, that was the end of the story for them. There are so many choices for Mexican food up here in Leander and Liberty Hill. "There's something wonderful about drinking in the afternoon.........." ― Anthony Bourdain On a lazy Monday afterrnoon I found myself at Casa Carcia's with a good friend discussing our busted March Madness brackets, baseball, football, and how to solve all the world's problems. The empty bar at Garcia's was the perfect venue. Our barkeep, Tony, took care of us from start to finish. Garcia's has some interesting cocktails and an expansive beer list. We opted for their Tex Mex version of an Old Fashioned. They use mezcal instead of whiskey and the mezcal gives it a smoky flavor. These were dangerously good. Typically, chips and salsa was provided pronto. These were better than most but the green chile sauce was the star here by adding some heat. They have the usual traditional Tex Mex menu and some not so usual like offering Menudo. I ordered their beef enchiladas lunch special. This was a great value for the price. My lunch arrived with two beef enchiladas topped with chile con carne and yellow cheese. The Mexican rice and refried beans were wonderful sides. The beef was marinated perfectly and very tender. Garcia's goes right into our local Tex Mex rotation. read more

I ordered two large Caldo's just incase they are not really large, I am glad I did, because the first container had more fat and less carne (meat).. as you see how much fat I pulled from the soup. Also as the meat is getting cooked in the water, the chef missed spooning out the excess fat that gets cooked out, thus transferring it back to the soup, which it did, The meat was tough, which indicates it was overcooked. Their riserva margarita was REALLY good, better than Torchy's! The Charro beans were a little bland but with some salt and pepper they perked up. To my disappointment the food was not that good, though I was visiting in Leander, I will travel to Manor to get that meal, they have never disappointed me! It is at best a 2 1/2 star restaurant. Some folks refer to Tex-Mex that's not spicy as new Tex-Mex. To me, it is Yankee-Mex catering to transplants who don't appreciate real Tex-Mex or Texas BBQ. This is OK for that crowd. Inside, it is clean and new but without much Tex-Mex ambiance. Food is priced about average. Taste is definitely very mild and without unique taste. Service is good. My wife had beef enchiladas and I had green chicken enchiladas. The salsa seemed like slightly spicy tomato paste without any heat. The chips were uniquely similar to cheaper chips out of HEB. In other words, they weren't very good. I would look elsewhere in that area for Tex-Mex. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND! 1st time here. My husband and I (White) went for breakfast. There were only 3 tables with customers when we walked in. We got seated right away, got drinks right away then waited to order our food.. And waited and waited... 17 min later, 3 request for our waitor that went ignored by the hostess. Table of 3 (white) came in, never recognized by any of the staff.. 2 other (Spanish) couples came in, got their drinks and food orders immediately. I came with the family after church. We ordered 2 menudos, tamales and a fajita wrap. I saw other reviews mention that the menudo wasn't good or below average, but as someone who's had true authentic menudo, it was pretty good. The server said they were short staffed that day but we still got our food fairly quickly. So I'm sure they were working very hard! My fajita wrap was great. It came with Spanish rice which was maybe a 7.5/10 IMO, still good. I didn't get to try the tamales but I was told they were delicious. Friday night we stopped by Casa Garcias for dinner. It was pretty full sounding when you opened the door. We were sat quickly and our waiter Caesar was chatting with us within five minutes of sitting.We got our drinks and queso quickly. Which we were grateful for, when we first tried them out right after they opened, service was a bit slow. There was a live Mariachi band floating around and that was a nice treat. With the Mariachi's and a pretty full house, we weren't able to chat, couldn't hear each other. Only thing I would change is something to help with acoustics. The food was great, we had queso, Mexican lemonade, tea to start. For dinner the mister had chicken fajitas enchiladas with ranchero sauce, burracho beans and rice. I had the Carne guisada enchiladas, refried beans and rice. Both were seasoned well and arrived quickly. In a previous visit I tried carne guisada as a meal and I highly recommend. I like this location and love that they have a tortilla making station. We will be back, maybe not on a Friday night lol, we are older and prefer it a bit quieter when we eat read more

Went last night a few people in restaurants- we were seated - given menus . Chips were served. We sat there for 10 minutes eating chips. Again not busy. No one spoke or acknowledged us or anything- after more than 10 minutes of waiting we got up - told hostess no one waited on us. All she said was sorry. Now the crowds are coming in. We live in Lago Vista tx- so this a drive to eat at restaurants- I really wanted carne gusida- but I didn't get it and neither did my daughter get food. Really disappointed and upset . Good place for a family dinner. The food here is consistently good. The chicken is always moist and tender. The sauces are flavorful. The margaritas are great with many options. The only reason for only four stars is the service. There is room for improvement here. Often servers disappear for extended periods of time. I've also had a couple instances where apparently my server didn't realize it was their table and didn't show up for an extended period.
