Food was awesome. The taco was huge. We had the chicken Tinga service was good and the dessert was even better.

A friend and I enjoyed a long, relaxed lunch at this Urban Taco location. It's located a bit off the beaten path, but worth a visit. When we first walked in, it wasn't obvious that this was a restaurant with full table service. It looked like a place where you'd order at the counter and wait at a table for the food to be delivered. Service was excellent... and we never felt rushed. My friend and I had the same thing... a Pezcador. This is a piece of crispy fried cod with avocado salsa, slaw, and mango pico in an 8 inch flour tortilla. The toppings were generously piled atop the fish, and tasted very fresh. I took my time savoring my taco. We also had a half order of chips and queso. The queso was thinner than I'd have liked when it was warm, but thickened up as it sat. 2 tacos would likely have been too much food for each of us, so having the chips rounded things out. We appreciated the advice of our waiter. While the menu is limited, the pricing is very good for what you get. read more

A recent KVUE Foodie Friday prompted us to try it and the food (and owner Eric's charm) will have us returning to try other menu offerings. The tasty Salsa Roja and chips wetted our appetite while our tacos were being freshly prepared. The mole taco was better than comparable mole tacos that we've eaten in interior Mexico. Literally the best that we've ever eaten. The Gobenador taco, with the lightly breaded shrimp bursts with flavor. I overcooking here and better than those offered on Mexico's pacific coast. The highly recommended Quesabirria taco melts in your mouth with abundant flavor. The elote was the perfect complement to our tacos, tasting fresh off the grill. No preparation corners here, with even the corn and flour tortillas made freshly in-house. A visit by joint owner/proprietor Erica at our table was a welcomed surprise, providing origins and insights to the unique twists to traditional Mexican tacos that standout above the rest. STOP SCROLLING. I Found the Taco Spot. It's Taco Tuesday, and all I wanted was a good taco. Now, let me set the stage: I grew up on the Mexican border. Homemade flour tortillas weren't a special occasion--they were just dinner. So when I see yet another taco restaurant claiming to be authentic, I'm usually skeptical. That's exactly how I felt when scrolling had me stumble across Urban Taco...then I read a review that mentioned homemade flour and corn tortillas. My interest was officially piqued. And let me tell you... THEY WERE NOT LYING. These tortillas aren't "warmed up from a package" good. They're not "restaurant homemade" good. They're grandma-made-these-at-5-a.m.-and-would-be-offended-if-you-called-them-store-bought good. Before ordering, I asked for recommendations. What impressed me immediately was that both the cashier and the server knew the menu inside and out. They didn't just point at popular items--they explained ingredients, flavor profiles, and pairings, helping me build an order based on what I actually like. You could tell they believed in the food they were serving. In the end...I chose four different catwgories Cachete on corn Pescador on corn Al Pastor on flour Asada in flour Guacamole on the side While waiting for my to-go order, I decided to sit in my car and catch up on emails because Texas weather was doing Texas weather things. A few minutes later, a tiny female walked my food out to me. I assumed it was a staff member helping out. Nope. It was the chef. THE CHEF. And that told me everything I needed to know about this place. When a chef is willing to leave the kitchen to personally deliver a fresh order to a customer, that's pride. That's ownership. That's someone who genuinely cares about the experience. Now let's talk tacos. The Cachete taco was absolutely ridiculous. Tender, rich, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The kind of taco that makes you stop talking mid-bite. The Pescador taco? Listen carefully. I love fish tacos. I order fish tacos everywhere. This fish taco just entered my Top 5 Foods I've Ever Eaten list. Not tacos. Foods. Period. Fresh, flavorful, perfectly balanced, and somehow light while still being packed with flavor. The Al Pastor was excellent. A little spicier than my personal preference, but I completely understand why it's one of their most popular tacos. The flavor was outstanding. And the Asada? Tender skirt steak, grilled onions, fresh cheese, queso fresco--everything working together exactly the way a great taco should. Here's what really surprised me: I don't eat salsa. Most tacos need salsa to elevate them. These didn't. I never once felt like I was missing anything. The ingredients were that fresh. Every bite tasted like it came straight from a garden instead of a delivery truck. The vegetables were vibrant, the herbs were bright, and the flavors tasted clean, intentional, and incredibly fresh. No shortcuts. No gimmicks. Just really, really good food. Urban Taco managed to do something that's hard to do: exceed the expectations of a border-town taco snob. So yes, I'm telling you to run, don't walk. I'm probably going to regret posting this because my future taco orders may take a little longer once everyone discovers this place, but Georgetown deserves to know. Fresh tortillas. Tasty new taco spot. Large menu with ample options. Everything was delicious. Tried a few different tacos. My favorites were the gobernador and suadero. The tacos are a decent size. For reference, my husband and I ordered six total and split them. That was sufficient for two people. We ordered everything on flour tortillas (not a big fan of corn). The tortillas are thick and made fresh in-house. Just wish they had some sort of dessert option, even if it's just a cookie or brownie from another business. Had to grab a cookie from TXB to satisfy my sweet tooth. Definitely check this spot out if you're in the mood for tacos! read more

Amazing tacos, service, and prices. FINALLY, a good taco spot in Georgetown. Something besides fast food fried chicken. We ordered the chicken asada, chicken mole, and Birra. All amazing flavors and packed full of meat. They make their corn and flour tortillas in house and they are THE BEST! Love the idea they have of the 1/2 order of guacamole and queso with chips especially when it's just 1-2 people. Their chips are even perfect, not greasy at all and have a hint of lime. We will definitely be back, this is #1 for tacos in Georgetown. Feels great to support this family owned business. read more

The Pezcador a very close second. This former location for Frankie's Pizza has been completely renovated and had a very open and inviting decor. Full liquor license on the wall. This place is a gem, as others have said! I lived in Mexico for many years and I can confidently say that I've never had such amazing, flavorful, delicious and filling tacos as we just had tonight from Urban Taco!!! Had to do take out and was starving so I ordered way too much for us. Initially I thought I'd save some for tomorrow, but once we got into the tacos, we had no control . Many of the patrons were piping in on what to order and so super friendly. These days people mostly keep their distance and eyes down on their phones or something but being here almost felt nostalgic and the ambiance was wonderfully welcoming. I hope that never changes! The staff very friendly and also very helpful with recommendations. The homemade flour and corn tortillas are so good that I could have cried. I've never had tortillas that were ever that good, even in Mexico! Our order tonight included elote, mole tacos, quesabirria's, and asada tacos. Everything was amazing and definitely ordering again. Yup! Way too much but I can honestly say I'm glad we did! As a side note another thing that I REALLY appreciate, is that our takeout was NOT put into toxic styrofoam containers. I can't stand it when you pay a pretty penny for takeout and they dump it in plastic that leeches carcinogenic toxins into the food. Urban Taco you are now our go to for tacos! This place is amazing! I just moved from San Diego so I was looking for some good Mexican food, not TexMex. Everything was delicious! I got the Quesabirria taco and the Canasta taco, both were so good!! We ordered horchata which isn't on the menu, AMAZING!! We also tried their churro dessert, which was also delicious and topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. 10/10 on everything. Definitely my new Mexican spot. The customer service was also great, James was super helpful at explaining the menu and the origin of their food menu. Great experience overall. read more

I got the carnitas and pastor tacos and liked them. The Pinapple on the pastor taco would have been better cut up smaller. My carnitas taco had jalapenos when I asked for none. However, I was able to pull them off and still eat the taco. Prices a bit high and service seemed a little slow. read more

Don't let the exterior of this building dissuade you from going inside. The service was good and food came out quickly. Only complaint would be they were a little bit slow, and the servers all went into kitchen and started talking and forgot about us at the end, The shrimp tacos were amazing the Birria on point and the pastor had grilled pieces of pineapple on top that were delicious. The flavors were amazing. We will be back. They also make all their own flour and corn tortillas. We tried both and both were delicious. They're on the larger side so you really only need one or two tacos. read more

My wife and I had finished up at a local nail spa when I suggested going here since it was Taco Tuesday. We pulled into the parking lot and my wife expressed it "looks a little sketchy." Once inside, those thoughts disappeared and we were brought menus listing numerous options, each sounding more delicious than the one before. My wife and I each tried three different tacos. All were unique and flavorful. The level of spice in each was perfect and I would characterize it as warm but not hot. However, they provide other sauces. Go slow on the green sauce. It is good but not for the weak. We both enjoyed the food (we picked it up) and will go back.
