The family and I stopped to have brunch after church. The service was quick and the food was delicious. It was a friendly atmosphere and brightly light. From the moment you walk through the door we were greeted with smiles and friendly staff. We were seated quickly for a family of 6! Everyone got a different dish and we devoured it all before I could snap a picture. But I made sure I got pictures of all of our desserts!! I also couldn't find a menu online and took pictures for others to glance at. They even have one you can take home!

Stopped in here for breakfast on a Wednesday morning. I was quickly seated by a friendly server and given a menu and asked if I'd like coffee, which of course I did. The ambiance was pleasant, with a definite Mexican cafe vibe. I have had a craving for, and was hoping they would have menudo available. Most Mexican places only offer it on the weekends, so I was pleasantly surprised when my server indicated they did have it available. She assured me it was made daily so I ordered a small bowl ($11). It arrived in a few minutes and was presented with lime wedges, chopped onions, and jalapeños, accompanied by 4 corn tortillas. I asked for some crushed red pepper and she quickly returned with that along with some Mexican oregano. I added everything and dug in. The serving size was perfect for me. They do offer a large bowl ($14) but I felt a small would suffice, which it did. It was loaded full of chopped tripe and it was hot and delicious! The server came by to check on me a couple times, and provided coffee refills, asking if I needed anything else. I was very pleased with the whole experience. So, here is how I rate it: Service- 10/10 Ambiance- 10/10 Food- 10/10 Overall- 10/10 Will I return? Absolutely! I want to try out their dinner menu and check out the happy hour (M-F 2:00-6:00) specials. Well done El Mariachis!

Asada fries for breakfast is never a bad idea! These are a must! Mexicana migas breakfast plate, bacon cooked perfectly! Carne guisada taco (best I've had). Staff & service are excellent. Bar tender & drinks are great! Go support this small business in LH!

Our waitress was attentive and organized, taking everyone's order carefully and efficiently. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill due to a clear lack of communication in the kitchen. Multiple times throughout the evening, one or two plates were brought to our table by different servers asking if anyone had ordered them. In each case, the food either belonged to another table or wasn't what anyone in our party had ordered. Two members of our group didn't receive their hamburgers until after everyone else had finished eating and plates were already being cleared. Our waitress returned to the table several times to apologize and explained that there were only two people working in the kitchen and that they were short-staffed, as they hadn't expected the restaurant to be so busy on a Monday night. While we appreciated her efforts and professionalism, it was disappointing to see the owner standing near the kitchen throughout the evening and never once coming to our table to acknowledge or apologize for the situation. Although the two extremely late meals were removed from the bill, most of us received our food at least 10 minutes apart, making it difficult to enjoy the meal together. Things have changed since the new ownership--some for the better--but the service this evening left a lot to be desired. After five years of celebrating together at LHBM, this visit was unfortunately not memorable in a good way. The experience was bad enough that it doesn't make us eager to return.

Located off Anderson Mill in the corner of a strip mall is a bookshelf with a door on the right side. If you cannot figure out the entrance, there is a doorbell to ring as well. I believe it is owned by the same people who own The Mill bar right next door, which makes it feel like a cool bonus space. My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. It is a very relaxed space, but once the speakeasy gimmick wears off, it does not have much else going for it. It is still a cool place, but I am not sure it was worth the lengthy drive to get there. But hopefully after learning from Alex, I will be able to make this on my own. This was a great collaboration with The Velvet Hen and VanBrocklin's Bistro. We learned the entire process beginning to end on how to make sourdough and the different folds and techniques to get the proper size crumb. We got to go home with our own jar of the families 244 year old sourdough starter named Petunia, and learned how to feed her and care for her. We got to bake a loaf there and learned why it's so important to wait 2 hours before cutting into it. I am desperately looking forward to more classes in the future, this was a great experience!

I had been there before, but not my wife. As you pull into the parking lot, the exterior is simple and modest. The interior is neat and clean. Several TV's are scattered throughout the restaurant and were mostly showing the March Madness games. The volume was off and not annoying. The servers were mostly young females. Our server was extremely polite, using ma'am and sir. I was really impressed with her. Chips and salsa were replenished without asking, another nice touch. They seem to use a team concept. Chips were very good and warm. Salsa was very good. I had the spinach, mushroom quesadilla which was excellent. Wife had the enchilada plate (two enchiladas) that came with charro beans and rice. She indicated that they were very good. We ended up taking half home with us. Food and service were great. Again, I was surprised at how good the service was. I highly recommend this place for some really good TexMex.
