#27 Shtickel: Egg scramble, Oven roasted turkey, swiss, pesto. ($12.50)

Pleasantly surprised by the experience at Inglourious Bagels!!! The staff was friendly and helpful. Make sure you arrived early because many of your favorite bagels will sellout before closing time. I ended up "settling" for my desired breakfast bagel on an "Everything Bagel". Oh my goodness, was the bagel delicious and mind blowing!! Give them a try and you will come back often. The name of this establishment provides truth in advertising..... The bagels here are shamefully and disgracefully delicious!!!

I'm so glad I finally made it to this bagel shop - it was fantastic! I didn't know a lot going in and Nathan was so helpful explaining their different offerings. I wasn't sure what I wanted and he took his time asking me flavor profiles I like etc and honestly I'm so glad because I love what we landed on! Something different I've never tried (Angry Everything bagel - 3/10 spicy level) with chive cream cheese to balance it. It was so delicious!! I think it's my new favorite bagel but I can't wait to come back and try more. Plenty of seating outside and service was quick. Highly recommend!

Cinnamon Raisin Bagel with Toasted Honey Walnut Schmear

There were so many options! I went with a cinnamon raisin bagel with honey walnut schmear and it was absolutely delicious. My mouth is watering as I write this review. I also purchased a bag of their day old bagels and a tub of the habanero schmear. The bagels were still great the day later, though I wasn't sure what flavors they were. The habanero schmear was SO spicy, with visible chunks of habanero. I would go back just for that. The folks working were super friendly and quick. I wish there was a location closer to where I live, but any time I'm in Carlsbad, I'm stopping here!

Absolutely delicious. From the moment I walked in, everything on the menu sounded so good it was hard to choose, and the person working was incredibly nice and genuinely generous, which made the experience even better. One thing I loved is that they actually call their cream cheeses schmears--something I've rarely seen in California--and the variety of flavors was amazing. I ordered a breakfast bagel with all the classic breakfast toppings plus their special that includes a hash brown, and I added the roasted garlic schmear. It was incredible. The bagel itself was toasted perfectly, not hard at all, and every bite was so flavorful. Service was super quick, and this place seriously deserves more recognition because it's that good. I would 100% stop here every time I'm passing through on the way to San Diego.

I've been here a couple times now and overall here's my take - If you are looking for a super spicy bagel you can't find anywhere else, this is the place for you. Anything else, you can probably go to any bagel shop. The HELLFIRE BAGEL is incredible. the best bagel i have ever had, but not because of the actual bagel lol more the toppings and flavor choice. It has habanero peppers and habanero pepper jack cheese. I opted to add the habanero cream cheese as well - another thing I've never seen before. 100/10, will come again because of that bagel. At the same time, I tried the Angry Everything and was severely disappointed. It had little to no taste, minimal spice if any at all, and was so bland I threw it away. My 5 year old daughter loves the Everything bagels, but the seasoning falls off anywhere she touches so it ends being mostly a plain bagel. Agree with the reviews that they tend to have several burnt batches of bagels, and will serve as is. Parking is easy, staff are friendly and efficient, and the inside is very clean considering how many people are in and out. No bathroom for customers that I could see, but I haven't asked. There isn't much room to wait inside, so most people wait outside at the few available tables.

You know when people tell you, you gotta try NY bagels? then you happen to find a place that proudly claims to be NY bagels? Well that's what happened here. Look we just had bagels the other day and I was like these are super thick and hard. Then we came here and I saw the #30 Lox special and I said this gotta be it. Ordered and left cuz seating outside was all taken. A good 12 min drive later was finally able to bite into it. OMG, I tell you they say you never forget your first and I think this truly was my first NY bagels. It was crisp on the outside but soft and chewy. Everything bagel, salmon, capers, lettuce and their schmear was GLORIOUS! I can't wait to come back again and try the other 50 items on here. They're only open til 1pm, service was timely and staff was super friendly. parking is small but people are in and out quickly.

I've really been trying to give this place a chance, but the last few times I've gone have been really disappointing. It's an extremely big let down when you wait in line for 10 minutes... see the bagels you'd like to get only to be told it's not available even though there's still 4 showing in the baskets. There obviously NEEDS to be a better system in place so that customers DON'T waste their time. Having a sign stating we're out or making an announcement of some sort... because as a customer it would be helpful to know what's actually available.Between the lack of customer service, unfriendly staff, and limited supply of items, I'm mostly likely not going to be coming back. :-(

First impression even before ordering a veg breakfast scramble at the front counter: the peeps who are employed here love (not like) working here. Miles of smiles and genuine engagement with customers is not something you can teach so it says everything about the owners that they love their staff and hire those that match their vibe. And that vibe is infectious and inspiring in a world where most seldom if ever look up from their phones. Ordering was a breeze, service was upbeat and the extra crisp I asked for on the breakfast potatoes was a crunchy delight. Great menu covering all day food cravings from omelettes, pancakes, fish tacos, burgers and inventive coffee choices and fresh pastries were on display and inviting. Floor to ceiling windows, cool light 'n breezy tunes, indoor and outdoor seating equally easy on the eyes and ears. I live in Carlsbad so it's an easy commute but I would drive from Alpine or the border to savor a moment or two of pure gratitude for this amount of happiness and love served on a white dinner plate. You thank you Cafe Topes. Consider me a regular.

The pastries are definitely on the higher-priced side and we weren't too hungry, so we opted for the strawberry croissant since it was the last one left. I was hoping to try their cinnamon roll, as it looked amazing and had a selection of flavors to pick from. The lady who helped us was friendly and packed the croissant for me, and we took it to go. The strawberry croissant had some vanilla cream along with strawberry slices in the center cut of the croissant. The cream was nice, light, and not overly sweet, which tasted great with the strawberry. The croissant was a little disappointing, as it wasn't flaky, very dense, and on the softer side. It still had a good buttery flavor but overall it was mid. As we continued eating, I ended up chewing on something plasticky, and I believe it might have been the front cut of a plastic piping bag. I'm glad it was a fairly small piece or else I probably would have swallowed it...It is disappointing that a big piece of plastic ended up in the cream where no one had caught it during the process of making it.

It's tough to get a table for a weekend noon. I booked our reservation a few weeks ahead of time. Parking is either near the train tracks across the street or on the curb. We got the egg dish and salad bowl. The yogurt for the eggs was deliciously spiced; dipping in the toasted bread into the gooey poached egg, creamy yogurt, and herbs was delicious! My issue with this dish were the herbs that were too large. Was I expected to stick a big piece of herb on my toast? The dish is saucy with the chili oil so my clothes were dirty with the oil covered herbs. Chop the herbs smaller for practicality! Another dish suffered from the execution. We got the bowl which I thought was going to be a grain bowl. Rather, it was a ridiculously-sized salad--as much leaves as a pack from the grocery store! There were toppings within like slices of avocado, pieces of orange, farro, and nuts. I felt like I was trying to treasure hunt to look for these pieces. The salad was comically oversized. It was dressed fine but suffered from the portion size. You could see this theme with the French toast too where you get 1/3 of a baked bread. I'm honestly confused by this chef who has amazing experience. Why do you construct dishes that are difficult and impractical to eat? Less is more. These dishes need extensive edits. How this place got Bib Gourmand is honestly surprising to me.
