    Szechuan green beans & broccoli
    Matt B.

We're long-time customers of Green Lettuce and Chili Pepper, but I had never tried this place, as it's a little far out from where we live. But we decided to finally give them a try, and they're as good as the aforementioned two places. If you like hakka / Indo-Chinese cuisine, this place is a must try. We ordered 3 dishes, which were ready 20 minutes after having phoned in our order. -Szechuan Green Beans & Broccoli ($14.95 plus tax). Gently spicy, with a generous portion of green beans and broccoli, nicely garlicy. The vegetables are cooked perfectly and the flavours are suitable assertive. Excellent dish. 5/5 -Tofu & Eggplant with Black Bean Sauce ($15.99 plus tax). Generous portion of tofu and eggplant, perfectly cooked, with a suitable assertive black bean sauce that is not too over the top, yet it coats everything with the right amount of flavour intensity. Excellent. 5/5 -Vegetarian Hakka Chow Mein ($13.95 plus tax). I think of all the hakka restaurants around here, this is my favourite noodle dish I've tried. Moderately thin noodles, smothered in a soy sauce-based sauce, with crunchy cabbage and carrot. Simple, but perfectly done. 5/5 We loved everything here and will definitely be back when we're in the area. Highly recommended.

Food was great once again, nothing disappointed us. My family and I enjoyed their dishes earlier today and everything was just SPOT ON, thank you again Indian Wok with your amazing dishes. I noticed few changes of wifi and the parking lot, but figured it out in the end (see my photos!). Anyways everything was tasty. Staff was helpful and service was fast. I can't wait to go back here again!

Ahh..how I wish I found this place earlier! Not too far from Metrotown, this Indo-Chinese restaurant offers very unique and delicious food at a reasonable price. There's a ton of variety, even for vegetarians! :) The owners and staff are really friendly and sweet too! When we ordered the vegetable Manchurian noodles, the chef actually personally came out to ask if we were okay with the spice level before cooking. *Vegetarian Manchurian Noodles - this is my personal fave. I didn't find it to be very spicy and the noodles were really flavourful. I love finding good vegetarian food so this dish made me very happy :D *Masala Prawns - also another tasty dish with delicious spices! Wasn't too fried which was a plus! We also ordered two other dishes but because I'm writing this review late, I can't recall the dish names anymore. But, all the dishes were great! Would def come back for more :)

The food is sooo delicious and the service is personal and prompt. If you love the combination of Indian and Chinese foods you will love this little place. The ambience is a little lacking but the food and the service make up for it.

You can say I came here not by choice, but I'm glad I did. I was lining up for Boiling Point, and it was going to be a good hour before we got seated. Beside it, there's a small restaurant with an unimpressive storefront. I looked up the reviews and they were pretty favorable so I decided to give this place a try. [SERVICE] After being seated immediately (it wasn't very busy at dinner time), we took a look at the menu. By first impression, the dishes were a little pricey - $13-$15 dollar range per dish. I also did not know what to expect since Indian-style Chinese cuisine can go very wrong if done badly. Since it's a family-owned business, the owner came by and gave us a few recommendations, which helped us greatly since we weren't sure what to order. The owner is very personable, and told us about the inspiration for this place. She has a Chinese background and was brought up in India, hence the incorporation of both cultures in her cuisine. What impressed me even more was that they served BOTH water and tea. Usually, it would be awkward to ask for both, but here we got both without even asking. [FOOD] We went for these three: - Masala fish - Beef with Spicy Eggplant and Green Beans - Chicken Manchurian Rice The menu leans towards Chinese cuisine rather than Indian, but they definitely incorporate the Indian herbs and condiments for a unique touch. The crispy fried masala fish on a bed of chopped onions is definitely something I've never had. The beef with spicy eggplant and green beans is my favorite. I've ordered green beans and eggplant at restaurants before, and they've been under-cooked, under-seasoned or overly oily. However, this dish is very well done at this restaurant! The chicken Manchurian rice also blended well with the two other dishes. It's more toned down than the palate-stimulating dishes but still maintained the savoriness level. [PRICE] For the quality of the food, I'm definitely willing to pay the price. [OVERALL] Don't pass up this place just because of the unimpressive storefront!

We're big fans of Indian fusion, so we decided to try Indian Wok. We didn't realize that there's parking behind the restaurant, so we parked in the grocery store parking lot across the street. Of course, I don't recommend this. Look for parking behind the building instead. The restaurant is small and outdated, but I wasn't looking for fine dining when choosing to eat here. I just wanted good food. Not only did I get good food, but the service was great as well! Our server brought us water and tea as soon as we sat down. She even gave us a jug of water, even though there were only two of us. Despite her leaving the jug on the table for us, she came by regularly to fill our empty water glasses. We each ordered a small soup: I had the chicken wonton soup. The wonton's were good but the broth was a bit bland. I added some salt to mine. We also ordered the Manchurian Chicken, Chicken Hakka Chow Mein and a small order of white rice. I was glad we ordered rice as I found the Manchurian Chicken to be a bit spicy. The flavours were all good though and the portion sizes were fair. We were actually able to take some home to have for lunch the next day. Overall, good experience. We'll probably get take-out next time though as there is a discount on take-out orders.

terrible garbage food, overpriced, under portion. $10.95 + tax??? Shame on u both the cook & owner! please show some respect to our farmer

Peking Duck course was fantastic. Food was more than enough for 4 people. Duck lettuce wrap was fantastic we couldn't finish all of it. Hot and Sour Soup was rather sour than spicy. It was not the best, but tasted alright though. My parents would've liked the soup to be a bit spicy. Sliced pork with garlic was good. Deluxe Fried Rice was fresh and tasty. Staff was helpful bringing water and more Hoisin sauce. Food was pretty good. We ended up taking some leftovers home. It was a wonderful dining experience at Chongqing!

The place used to be a fried chicken (fast food) joint way back, so the seating area is actually not that large. Most of the space is taken up by the kitchen. Staff are friendly and professional. The food is typical mid end banquet style, but the flavours are good, and the value is there. Lettuce wrap - standard restaurant fare. Decent quality. Fried green bean - nice and spicy, thanks to the house chili sauce. They can tune the spiciness on this one. Default is on the spicier side. Tasty. Shanghai fried noodles - standard restaurant fare. Hot & sour soup - better than the competition. Not sure what's special about it, but it stood out. Chongqing deluxe fried rice - one of their signature dishes. Great mix of flavour. Crispy rice with shrimp soup - honestly this would be the one dish that wasn't that great. Rice blocks were crispy, but the shrimp soup was nothing special. I'd skip this dish. Other than the crispy rice, everything is pretty standard compared to similar places out there. Expectations were met. Very good value. I'd gladly eat here again. Recommended.

There aren't a lot of tables so things shouldn't take too long but the usually aren't to many staff on shift. For the price, I think the value makes sense for a rather uncommon dish. They're a Northern Chinese spot that specializes in Guangxi cuisine and located right next to Onezo Tapioca. Even though it closes at 9:00pm, there were still people after us that came in for late night eats. We didn't have any issues with service; they came by to fill our tea several times. Just wish they gave bigger cups. Food comes out in a hurry. The menu is short and sweet: noodles, rice meals, appetizers, wontons and drinks. Trip #1 First visit was on a late Wednesday evening (around 8:30pm). - Mama's unique special milk tea ($4.80) - we added grass jelly ($0.50) which was unfortunately from a can. The milk tea was different than the norm as there was sweet fermented rice bits mixed in. Decent but don't think we'd get it again. - Sour and spicy crystal noodle ($6.98) - glass noodles with minced pork, bean sprouts, cilantro and peanuts. We got our dish medium spicy which was mild. Broth was excellently balanced; loved the sour notes. Glass noodles had a satisfying bite and cilantro added freshness to the bowl. - House special escargot rice noodles in spicy noodles ($13.98) - escargot, pig ear, beef, tofu, marinated egg, shrimp and pork intestine. There was also pickled green beans, bamboo shoots, tofu skins, wood ear mushrooms and peanuts. Really different with a good variety of textures and flavour. Loved all the types of meat, especially the tender beef, pork intestine and pig ear. Escargot was tasty but we wanted more. The tofu skin and wood ear mushrooms underneath were excellent. - Fresh meat wonton ($5.98) - this comes in a light broth with 15 homemade wontons, pickled seaweed and baby dried shrimp. Broth is basic but the wontons are great. Trip #2 Second trip was on a Friday evening (around 8:00pm). - Braised beef, pig ear and tofu ($10.98) - the beef is the same as what you get in their noodle bowls. Pig ear wasn't crunchy but the sauce (some sort of Chinese mushroom) was good. Tofu was fairly standard. For the price, it's a small dish; I didn't think it was worth it. - Shredded chicken, vegetable and cold noodle with house sauce ($9.53) - they asked us how spicy we wanted it; we went with spicy. Again, it's not so don't worry. The noodles were thin and the sauce was almost like a dan dan mein. We liked how it wasn't overwhelmingly peanuty. - Beef and escargot rice noodle in spicy soup ($9.98) - the beef is super tender. Again, the escargots are hard to find but everything else in this bowl is delicious. Tofu skin, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, peanuts and pickled green beans. Satisfying and spiciness finally came through. An interesting twist to the usual Northern Chinese spots typically found in town. Cash or debit only.
