Overall it was pretty delicious and authentic! Also, huge portions of food! Ordering it to go was a good choice because we took the leftovers home. The lady that runs the truck is super friendly and engaging with her customers! I'd definitely recommend this food truck for a nice Thai fried dishes that are full of flavor and have generous portions.

They said it would be about 20 minutes for food since they were slammed, but I appreciate knowing it was made to order, so no problems there. Tried the Kaeng Panaeng and it was good overall. Huge portion size but wasn't quite what I was expecting. Salad was pretty standard but I'm glad they kept it separate so it wouldn't wilt from the heat. As for the chicken, I was hoping by itself it would be more thai inspired/marinated/seasoned but it's effectively just chopped up chicken tenders to be dunked in the curry. The curry is flavorful, albeit a bit watery, which I wish was reduced a bit. But if curry is not your thing, my friend's Kai Zabb was very good: tangy, sweet and heat all at once, so good to really switch up bites. And while I wasn't expecting sticky rice, I can't help but say it's the first time I've had thai fried chicken without it. All in all, I think its a great new place to try out, but if you've had thai fried chicken before, just temper your expectations.

Kai Zabb - Such a cool area to eat! It was much cooler under this covered area (which is also under some tree coverage).

I like that blend the eggs with bacon pieces so it feels like one cohesive taco. They had me at homemade tortillas. Having grown up in San Antonio, TX...home of Tex-Mex, you can always tell homemade tortillas v store bought ones. The flavor of these tortillas are distincitive. I enjoyed every, single mouthful. Today I called a head to place my order. When arrived Fernanda asked my name, she rang up my tacos for $5 in total and I was off for my morning exercise regiment. The environment this morning was laid-back yet busy. There were a number of people in the restaurant, however, they were leisurely eating that tacos and engaging in conversations.

I was greeted as soon as I walked in. Placed my order - 1 migas taco, please. He asked if I would like anything else, what type of salsa - hottest, of course, and dine in or to go. They took "to go" more seriously than other place ever because my food was out before I could even finish looking around. This was much appreciated since I was already in a rush. Gave me food and kindly sent me on my way. In the end, I paid a little over $3 for friendly, prompt service and a solid migas taco.

You literally can miss it as I did when I initially tried to find this food truck. It is located near Ruku mechanic shop and shaved ice food truck after your drive down a relatively long path. Pacific Flame Island Grill has been touted as the lead for Austin's most authentic Pacific Island BBQ. According to Tammy, the owner, this family-owned truck serves authent ic pacific island food from Maui, Guam, Philippines, and Okinawa. It was nice talking to Tammy as she was super engaging. She draws you in with the Pacific Island history, cooking techniques and family traditions. I learned Tammy's family has a family crest which is tattooed on family members only. You have to obtain permission to get the tattoo and only one woman creates the tattoo. She indicated that their family is mainly from an area near Hana affectionately called the divorce road to Hana. My hubby and I drove up the road to Hana, which was treacherous...many one lane areas where only one car can pass and many blind curves. While the hubs and I are still married, next time we will take a helicopter to the waterfalls in Hana. Smile. I ordered the Teriyaki & Shoyu Chicken bowl. The chicken was tender with a deep, smoky char that Pacific Flame Island gets from their black iron grill. The accompanying rice was flavorful and enjoyable to eat. Win, win...all the way...food and island family!

There's plenty of outdoor seating but little shade, so you decide if you want to brave the heat or eat in your car. The plate lunch is a classic and they do it proud here. It typically consists of a protein, a few scoops of rice and macaroni salad. I went with the Huli Huli chicken, which is more or less grilled teriyaki cooked with extra pineapple tang. They give a good amount of meat for the price. Food takes a bit of time but I appreciate them cooking it fresh. They got other classics like loco moco too!
