I love the green soft chairs, the tables, and the chef statue greeting you as you pull in front of the building. He's right there in the window. The bistro honestly takes your breath away. I love it! So in the last two weeks, I've been back exactly four times. My first introduction was the Croissant Scramble with chicken and veggies inside, with the Arnold Palmer. My friend got the Croissant Scramble with brisket. The presentation of the croissants when brought to the table blew me away. It was wrapped up in the cutest paper with the ends twisted. The topic of conversation was how good the croissants were. Before we left, we ordered some delicious cookies. The chocolate chips were yummy. So I went the following day and grabbed some pastries! One in particular was the Pecan Bar. The following week, another friend and I stopped in for the Chicken Pesto Omelet. I like that the fire-roasted bell peppers and onions are cooked, if that's the right word. But l have to tell you, the Mexican Hot Chocolate drink brings on the flavor, as does the ice-cold Mocha. Of course, we got the Pecan Bar for dessert. So yes, I went back yesterday for the Almond Croissant. I know, I know!

Unfortunately, not so much. One of us got the "Elvis Keith" and the other got the "Aaron Nunez." The first thing we wish we never saw were the calorie amounts in these things! Over 1,200 calories per sandwich!! That guaranteed we were only going to be eating half each. Our first issue was with the bread: it tasted supermarket quality and definitely seemed like frozen-to-oven situation. Toppings, etc. were OK, but nothing felt like "Wow, now *this* is a sandwich!" It just felt like elevated Subway TBH. We did get a side of fries that were decent, and our daughter ended up with some mozzarella sticks that were not very good. The staff was friendly and while the place was clean-ish, it felt kind of dumpy and sad-looking. Our food also took quite a while to come out considering that we were the only customers there. We felt like we gave it a go, but we're not going to waste our calories here again in the future. Three stars.

On a recent trip out near the area, my hubby stumbled across this gem! He loves a good sandwich and…read morethis place did not disappoint. Trying to meet his craving and wanting to avoid bread myself, I agreed but ordered a salad instead. Salad can be a risk as often times they tend to be underwhelming and with mediocre greens ; that was far from the case at Snarfs! I chose the Greek; every single bite was packed with a crisp snap of fresh carefully washed romaine , not too sharp red onions, juicy Kalamata olives , bright artichoke, tomato , and feta! I had it with their house dressing which brought all the flavors together and caused me to eat the whole serving in one sitting; which I rarely do. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his "secret menu" sandwich so much so that we ordered a second sandwich to go for later that evening. I didn't rate his sandwich as I didn't eat any of it but he raved about it the entire time. We highly recommend this spot! Place was clean, staff friendly and knowledgeable. Wait time was reasonable for preparation of ordered items.

Okay Cuban Food in Pflugerville…read more Tropicana sets the standard for Cuban food in this town. I have not been to Havana on South Congress in years. Back in the day, Havana impressed as well. What about Chicho's? It won't thrill you. It won't kill you. * * * a) The menu at Chicho's is small. The menu at Tropicana is infinite. Chicho's is mostly a sandwich place. But they have some plates. Tropicana has everything. b) Servings at Chicho's are small. Small servings? At a Cuban restaurant? Yes - Miami has some Cuban restaurants with small servings too. But Cuban is where you often go when you are looking for some serious bellybusting. Havana Harry's is the model for ... your appetizer, your main course and your dessert are EACH as filling as a Thanksgiving Dinner. That is three Thanksgiving Dinners. The pork chop I got at Chicho's was cut thin. How thin was your pork chop, Samuel C? Funny you should ask, Yelp Reader. It was maybe a thickness of three on a delicatessen slicer. Probably closer to two. It was like eating a slice of ham out of an Oscar Mayer ham for little kids's lunch pack. It was nicely sauteed and had a sweet sauce. (Shades of the Oscar Mayer ham again). I ate my ration. There was an ice cream scoop's worth of congris. It was first rate congris ... the best thing on the plate. I was sad when my ice cream scoop's worth was gone. There were four maduros which counts as a legal but unimpressive serving. They were standard. There was a miniscoop of salad - but you know the salad you get as a side garnish in Mexican and Cuban restaurants. You don't eat it and it is no loss. * * * The other downside was the strawberry juice drink con leche. It was a standard industrialized strawberry pulp pack for drinks Which is par for the course when you order these things. Either something was funny with the strawberry pulp or something was wrong with the milk. 85 percent of the sips were okay. 15 percent were - wait a minute - something is wrong. The wrongness was inconsistent enough that I did not want to complain to management. But the more I reflect on it - the more I am sure I would not order another juice drink for a beverage. * * * Overall, my basic dishes were good enough that I could see eating there again if I happened to be in the neighborhood. But Pflugerville is full of amazing places ... And there is some great Yelp reviewing to be done in that town. And if I am hungering for Cuban ... there is always Tropicana. * * * Actually ... If I am hungering for Cuban ... There is always Miami. Eat at the best Cuban places in Miami And you will be so happy you will never want to eat again. Plus you will be so full it will be physically impossible for you to eat again. Ever. * * * No Cuban restaurant in Austin takes you to that extreme of happiness. But Tropicana does a good job of getting you 2/3 of the way there.
