There was one customer waiting, and not another person. I waited about ten minutes. My son loves chicken Tikka masala, so we ordered him some. It is spicy. I'm into a moderate spice, and this is burning my lips as I type. There was no option when ordering online to determine level of spice so we weren't ready for that. Beyond the spice the chicken was tough, so even if the spice was toned down the chicken wasn't great. The tandoori chicken is nice and flavorful and tender. $17 for three drumsticks and two thighs might be a bit steep. Overall not an overwhelmingly good experience.

The restaurant is clean, well decorated and ready for your visit! The staff are super friendly. I drove home with my order and it was piping hot and spectacular. Chicken tikka is spicy, mildly sweet and so delicious. A great way to conquer allergy season! The paneer butter masala had a lot of paneer. Many other locals have tiny bits of paneer in a sea of gravy. At Tamarind you will not be disappointed! Don't miss the potato samosas... Come on Austin, let's show these guys more lunch time love!

Meet a few friends and we tried various dishes. The restaurant was clean and quaint inside with several tables and booths. There was one person working the dining area and they got busy by the time we left. As a table shareable items were the creamy Brussels sprout and the Kothey momo (dumplings), main dish I got the Tandoori Salmon and it was delicious. When they were walking out with the sizzling skillet I was thinking who ordered this?! And it was me. lol the Brussels sprouts had a great flavor and I enjoyed this as well as the momos. Overall I enjoyed the food and would recommend if you're in the area. The menu is quite extensive so be prepared to make some tuff choices. The restrooms were a bit odd as they seemed to be not fully built out, almost an after thought? Perhaps.

I started with the Nepali Chiya (chai) it was sweeter, nicely spiced and made in house! I highly recommend it for any chai lovers. For starters we ordered the creamy Brussel sprouts which had a nice tangy taste and were surprisingly great! I've never had creamy Brussels but it's now one of my favorites. We also went with the momo (Nepali Dumplings. We went with the Kothey momos which you can choose from veg or chicken ($9) and they come with 5 served with a dipping sauce. These were another hit! The sauce was served room temp and not spicy at all. Very well balanced. For my main I went with the lamb biriyani! And great selection! The rice could have been a bit more seasoned but overall 9/10. My friend got the salmon and it looked amazing! This place is really cute and spacious! Plenty of seating, quick and friendly service and lots of parking since it's in a shopping center!

As an Indian person myself, I can confidently say the food here is very authentic and reminds me of the flavors my mom cooks with. It's also filled with Indian families and customers, which is always a good sign that the food is the real deal! On my visit, I ordered the egg curry and a dosa, and both were excellent. The egg curry was rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced, while the dosa was fresh, crispy, and delicious. They also have a wide variety of vegetarian options, so there's something for everyone. The food tasted fresh, the portions were satisfying, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, this is one of the better places in Austin for authentic Indian food. If you're looking for tasty, freshly made dishes and a genuine Indian dining experience, I highly recommend checking it out.

I had been driving past this place for the past few months, always meaning to stop in. Last…read moreweekend, I finally did. Before going, we browsed the online menu, and what immediately caught my attention was the focus on the west coast of India, especially Goa, Mangalore, and Kerala. It was refreshing to see something beyond the usual North Indian or standard South Indian fare that most restaurants tend to offer. We were tempted to order widely, but in the end we chose two starters and one entrée. The mushroom and paneer starters were both excellent, yet very different from each other. The paneer was smooth and rich, almost comforting in its finish, while the mushroom dish had a gentle tang that brightened every bite. The contrast worked beautifully. For the entrée, we chose the Bunt Kori Gassi, a Mangalorean chicken dish. The flavors were delicate and well balanced, with spices that enhanced rather than overwhelmed. We paired it with Malabar parottas and aappams, which were perfect for soaking up the gravy. Even the complimentary rice stood out. It was not the usual basmati, but a more local variety, a small detail that showed the thoughtfulness behind the meal. The sol kadhi, made with kokum, brought back memories of home. It had that familiar cooling tang that is hard to replicate. We finished with mango kulfi, which was subtle, not overly sweet, and a gentle way to end the meal. The chef came out to greet us personally, which made the experience even more meaningful. He explained that they use mostly organic ingredients and avoid artificial colors. We shared our appreciation for both the food and the service and left hoping they continue to maintain these standards. The menu is already being expanded, including a section for more traditional Indian restaurant offerings. We are looking forward to returning and exploring more of what they have to offer.

There was one other patron in the restaurant, yet service was extremely slow and abysmal. We had to wait a full 20 minutes after asking for the check, and our server was distracted and uninterested the whole time. Food was also a let down. The mangalore chicken curry had a layer of oil floating on top. Dumping oil in the food just kills the flavor. Served with a tiny portion of rice, not nearly enough for two people to share. I won't be going back.
