The name is a good description of the menu. I would describe the cuisine as Indian fusion. This is an upscale restaurant with a level of service to match. Extra points for the piano jazz playing in the background (not live music). I dined here for lunch since I happened to be nearby and found the menu to have a good selection of choices. The dishes were creative and full of complex flavors. The Chettinad chicken was excellent with a good amount of spice but not so much that it overpowered the dish. My only complaint is that the meal was a bit pricey for lunch but the quality of food and the level of service do demand higher prices. I'd like to return for dinner sometime when I want a nicer place. They do take reservations and it is probably recommended. One other comment, the restrooms are nice and clean, but down a flight of stairs with a spiral staircase. If you or someone in your party has mobility issues take note. read more

We had a great visit to the London outpost, formerly in the Chor Bizarre space on Albemarle Street. We went with the tasting menu which was very nice. The potato sphere chaat was amazing as always. Just a great blend of flavor and texture in a perfect bite. The kulchas were awesome and we tried three different kinds--the bacon, wild mushroom and butter chicken. All were excellent. For the main dishes, the saag and the chicken tikka were both fantastic as was the soy keema and the pork ribs prior to that. The best Indian (fusion) meal I have had. Creative Indian dishes with gourmet twists. They also have an excellent selection of cocktails, lassi, and whiskies. I had the 4 course tasting menu, along with some supplements. It was very enjoyable, particularly the sweet pickle pork ribs with mango , butter chicken naan, and the burrata with tomatoes . There was a complexity of flavors throughout the meal. The desserts were also exceptional! Beautiful atmosphere though a little loud, with good service, though not the most refined. Very elevated take on Indian cuisine. I've never seen anything like it. Definitely not the Indian food I'm used to eating. Went with friends and found the best way was to order multiple plates from each section and eat family style. Plating and presentation was beautiful. There wasn't a thing I didn't like. We had a very unfortunate experience at Indian Accent and this review is based solely on customer service, not food or decor since we didn't get to experience either. We made a reservation about a month ago for our family of 4. We called an hour before going to confirm they could make some simpler food for our 8 and 10 year old girls and they said yes, and they confirmed the minimum age for their restaurant was 8. We spent 30 minutes making our way to the restaurant and as soon as we arrived there was trouble. We were first told by the unfriendly hostess that men needed a tie. We just watched another man walk through with no tie and then looked in the main dining room and saw many other men without ties. Something seemed off. While we're discussing this, the manager appears and says he can't honor our reservation because the minimum age is 10. We explain that we received confirmation 60 minutes prior from his staff that the minimum age was 8, plus the minimum age wasn't listed anywhere. He didn't care and he wasn't budging. I might have understood if our girls were running around in the foyer and causing trouble, but they were standing there quietly watching all of this, and they would've been well behaved as usual in the dining room if given the chance. We asked the manager if he could make us a reservation at another restaurant nearby and he refused. We continued to plead our case but clearly Indian Accent doesn't believe the customer is always right and the manager was not interested in accommodating us, admitting his staff was wrong, or helping us in anyway. We felt like trash that needed to be taken out. No where on their website or their Open Table site did it mention they had an age limit or a dress code. When we explained this, they agreed, but said it was on the Open Table email confirmation. Who reads their spam for those? Not me. It should be listed clearly before making the reservation so customers can determine if this is the right venue for their dining experience. We went down the road to Chutney Mary and the manager there was a lovely man who welcomed us with open arms. The food and decor was excellent as well. Go there if you wanted to be treated like an equal human. read more

Terrible service takes away from the good food... When I say we were "greeted" I mean we were leered at as we walked in the door. An awkward pause later I said that we had a reservation. The hostess who's only sparkly feature was the diamond nose stud, allowed us entry and showed us to a lovely table, without a smile, without any of the usual niceties that accompany seating at an expensive restaurant. We were offered water and then... nothing... Eventually our unenthusiastic waitress came round to check on us, and was about to dash off again without any offer of help or... drinks order perhaps? When we stopped her and asked for glasses of champagne. She seemed confused over which champagnes they had in house and generally speaking she didn't seem to know wine well at all. We browsed the menu which looked exciting, innovative and tasty. However, while I do know my Indian cuisine being that this was a modern interpretation I think the menu could use some brief explanations under the dishes as we were unsure about some points (especially as the person I was with had dietary requirements). Which then left us in need of the waitress who was taking her time in getting back to us. After finally appearing she did explain while seeming a bit fidgety, and took our order and dashed off again. She didn't ask us about wine with meal but took the wine list anyway before we could stop her and ask for a glass of red. When our first course came, we asked for the wine then and there was this look of exasperation since no one knew their wine and they had taken the wine list away. Luckily I had looked over the list and asked for one that I had remembered on the list. But seriously folks, a little enthusiasm here, do your job properly, know what is on your menu, wine list, etc. You are after all going to be adding that service charge to the bill, right? The food arrived and... it was delicious! I mean really, really good. And that is what is so awful about having to give 2 stars here, because the food shines and should be the star of the restaurant but instead poor service and attitude completely takes away from the cuisine and dining experience. We had 3 courses all tasty and beautifully presented. The weakest being the mid course which I found less exciting, but my starter and especially my main dish was a treat. I also absolutely LOVED the mini nan with a spicy little soup they serve you as a welcome. The food is very good! In terms of the dining room, they have made the most out of a small space and overall the decor is pleasant, modern, if a bit cliche. However the acoustics made it loud and very hard to have a conversation. The table next to us was very loud which only made it worse. It added to the discomfort of the evening and we opted to not have dessert and get out. Its a shame really as I would go back here because the food was so good. But unfortunately the service really, really lets the place down. It is not just about the prices, I am happy to pay for great dining experiences, and its not just about the bad service, which was appalling, it is about the lack of pride in where the staff was working, the lack of enthusiasm for the product and the lack of respect for the diner. This is Mayfair after all, and this is London. There are many wonderful restaurants and food choices out there, why go where you are not wanted? read more

Spectacular meal with each course a complex combination of bold flavors and thoughtful cocktails for a special meal. A minimalist exterior gives way to a classy, upscale interior with a modern romantic setting. We elected for the four course menu to try a number of different dishes and left replete. From the amuse bouche that was an Indian play on tomato soup and grilled cheese with a blue cheese naan and tomato based drink to the wonderful duck and parathas and the really tasty paneer makhani parathas. Service was knowledgeable, helpful and down to earth. A week later I'm still thinking about how great the meal was. Definitely an add in my top meals ever - and trust me that's a big call. read more

If I were to make up a word describing this restaurant, it would be Nouveau Indian. It has the right connotations. It is a new and modern interpretation of Indian cuisine. So, if you are after a traditional curry, this is not the place. If you are in the mood to discover an amazing array of Indian flavors, this is the place to go. I have been to both the New York and the London locations and both are phenomenal. The food is exceptional. Just ever so slightly spicy to tingle the senses, but never to kill them. We were visiting London and had made a reservation in advance as recommended by a friend. We ordered the chefs tasting menu and being vegetarians we asked for vegetarian food specifically. The food was absolutely delicious. Authentic Indian flavors with a twist which is exactly what we were looking for. The manager even made adjustements to the dish when we told him about our preferneces. The service was impeccable and the servers very friendly. The ambience was very cozy. London is one of the few cities outside of India that elevates the cuisines of the subcontinent, and we spent our whole trip dining at Indian restaurants throughout the city. This was, the best. Oh wow. Now this was a meal. A friend from the US was visiting and wanted to try out some British Indian food. I figured why not look for the best London has to offer and rolled the dice on Indian Accent. The gamble was a definite success. There isn't any a la carte menu, just the tasting menus, but they come with many options so functionally you still have many options to choose from. My favorite dish was the lamb biryani, but everything we had was delicious. And unlike other high-end Indian restaurants I've been to, Indian Accent tries to retain some of the typical flavors one expects when eating Indian food. While the chaat was plated in a "fancy" way, it still tasted authentically Indian, and the same could be said of many of their dishes. A few very small negatives: I think it was slightly overpriced, coming out to about 125 for 2 people without drinks. The service was average, and the place was very dimly lit, to the point where both my friend and I independently almost walked into a wall while navigating to the toilet. But these are all very minor compared to the food. Overall, this is a best-case scenario for high-end Indian. I don't think I'll go back because of the price, but it's definitely worth checking out at least once. read more

Wonderful new Indian haute cuisine restaurant with superb service, third restaurant with Chef Manish with brances in New Delhi and New York. Bruno our sommelier/host was hospitable and had great recommendations for wine. We ordered the pomelo, kundru, cashew confit (very refreshing and delicious), Kashmiri morel with walnut powder and Parmesan papad for a first course. This was followed by chili pork and pulka, and langoustines(both superb). But the best were the main dishes-seared scallops and the lamb with the tiny tiny roomali rotis and mushroom paratha was to die for. Hopefully they will open a branch in Los Angeles! read more

A lovely and comfortable place. While expensive, it represents fairly good value for Mayfair. We were at first shocked by the tiny portions but two starters and two mains satisfied us- but we also ordered rice, Dahl and two of the most minuscule naan breads imaginable. Flavours are lovely but the food is a tad heavy. Try the Morel mushrooms. The Pea and Sweet potato dish had a nice balance of spice, but the Ghee Roasted Lamb was just too rich. Service was good, but some servers are better at explaining the menu. We noticed that as the place got busier, the many staff were struggling to keep up. I might go again, but there are many choices for Indian food in Mayfair, and endless places in London. read more

POOR SERVICE, OVER RATED, MEDIOCRE FOOD. I have two problems with Indian Accent: 1. TERRIBLE SERVICE: we made a reservation for 5:30 when the restaurant was empty for 6 people. When they found out one of the people in our party was 8 years old, they would not let us us in Are they kidding me? It's 5:30, your restaurant is empty and this is a mature 8 year old. They turned us away and embarrassed us!!! Luckily a much better Indian place, Amaya, had no problem letting our 8 year old in, so we went there. 2. MEDIOCRE FOOD: This place is okay for an average Indian place, but it tries to compare itself to the best Indian restaurants in Mayfair. It's NOT even close on service and quality. If you want a great high end Indian you should definitely go instead to: Jamawar Amaya Gymkhana Tamarind Chutney Mary Dishoom Indian Accent has POOR SERVICEand the food is average at best. Wow. One of my favorite dining experiences of all time. My family and I enjoyed every dish from the soup and naan amuse bouche to the final dessert. I got the tofu masala to start, tiger prawns for second course, and chicken malai tikka for my main. The chicken was SUPERB. Nothing was overly spicy but still very flavorful. I tasted the burrata, lamb, and scallops which were also excellent. The makhan malai and doda barfi treacle tart desserts were the perfect end to an amazing meal. read more

we selected it, after i have eaten the NY restaurant before. food was excellent, we got a small cheese nan stuffed with rocheforte and a butternut squash chai soup at start. afterwards kashmiri morels, which had to my surprise quite some heat. i also tried the smoked aubergine, very nice, one could clearly feel the smoke. afterwards i had mushrooms again, was also very good, but i should have choosen different, to get some diversity in taste. we had red dal, which has similarly to dal makhani, but not so heavy and more fruity with stronger tomato taste. as desert a malai, a foamy saffron milk dish, decorated with almonds and gold which was delicious. everything was perfect, only little negative thing was that we had one course more on the bill, which was sorted out immediately and i had the impression in NY we got 2 cheese nans instead of one, and the dal portion was a bit bigger. we will clearly come back to indian accent read more
