You can't make an appointment so that sucks but I make sure to come when I'm not in a hurry. I've received amazing service from Tom, Cathy, Carol & John. Cathy is so sweet and patient and I'm extremely picky so I can't thank her enough for that. I highly recommend it here. Was going to get a gel mani, when the nail tech BROKE my natural nail since she was taking my gel off with the mechanical file. The guy at the front desk just ignored me when I told him what happened & didn't acknowledge what I said until I said something to the girl next to him at the front desk. Then all he said was sometimes natural nails break, what do you want me to do? Maybe teach your employees how to use tools properly or give me a discount since I didn't come in here with broken nails. She broke my nails with the machine, she didn't know how to use it and it got jammed in my nail, how else would the nail break curved?? The people that work here are really nice. But 40 dollars for dip powder nail that one of my nails was lumpy and the way they filed were crooked I came home and filed them myself. My pedicure looks like if I had painted it, she only cut the toe nails on my left foot! So my right toe nails are longer. And the two coats don't look like a solid color. Not worth 55 dollars. I just came this morning to fix it and the girl in the front is already going off about their "warranty" and how it's not their fault. If you want to caught 1. An infecton you can go there. Be observant, yes it's cheap but I counted 60 people the time I was there and not once, they sanitized the nail clippers or any other tool. 2. They laughed at you when they make you bleed and tell each other to look at you when you're in pain. 3. Just because they use a bag to do the pedi doesn't mean anything else in that chair is clean. I'm on a quest for the "one", in terms of nail salons that is. After admiring my sisters Nightmare Before Christmas inspired Halloween nails a few months ago, and my mom's snowflake nails a couple of days ago, I decided to check this place out. It's a little rough around the edges, but let's add some color shall we? This shop is located in the little strip mall on the corner of Rosecrans and Paramount, behind the Jack in the Box. The parking lot gets a bit crowded as there are about 10 or 12 little stores packed into that one corner. So it's cramped to say the least. But, I got lucky and found a parking spot across from the entrance of the shop. Then again, it was also 3:20pm on a Monday afternoon. I would say it might be harder to find parking at that time when school is in session (there are 2 just down the street, an elementary school and the freshman campus for Paramount High), so maybe go earlier or later depending on your time frame. The shop itself seems very small from the front, but goes back a fair bit. On one side there are 6 or 7 rows of stations, with 2 to a row. There are 4 or 5 spa pedicure massage chairs on the opposite side, with the walkway in the middle of the stations and chairs. So it's a little cramped, and your chair is behind an employees chair, so be careful when you scoot back so you don't bump them and mess up what they are doing. They don't take appointments, which can potentially be a downfall as they are busy. When I came in, I was seated right away after explaining what I was looking to get done to the guy at the front desk. When I left, on the otherhand, there were 4 or 5 people waiting. Maybe it depends on your time of arrival too, because when I left it was about 4:45pm. Anywho, once I explained my design, he called out the name of a nail tech, and told me to go sit down. My techs name was Caryn, and lemme tell ya, she was AWESOME! Unlike most nail shops where the ladies have hard to understand accents, In Style is different. Almost everyone in there seemed to speak English very well, so I was able to have a conversation with Caryn instead of sitting in silence while she chatted with her coworkers. She was super nice, and told me that she didn't understand Vietnamese anyways, because she was Cambodian and we talked a little about the country, the temples, etc. So, that was a nice change! We even conversed about what I was in school for, her school history and how her family thought different jobs were money makers. Definitely a fun conversation(^_^) As its almost Christmas, I requested for a holiday themed nail look. And it had to have glitter. Naturally! Christmas=sparkles and glitter galore! Oh, and a candy cane stripe too, please? Caryn said "No problem, I got this girl!" And asked how I short I wanted my nails, and what shape. I prefer short and slightly squared. Nobody, in the 11 years that I've been getting my nails done, has gotten what I want right the first time. Until now that is. Literally one cut per nail, and she barely had to file them at all. And they are basically just right. Even better? She didn't cut my cuticles with that little metal file tip on those dremel tools they use. Hallelujah! No cuts or scrapes at all actually. I'm not really sure why there are so many negative reviews about this place. Everyone in there seemed to be really happy with their services. Heck, I even had her touch up my eyebrows before I left. That was the most painless waxing I've ever had. Literally the wax was a perfect temperature, so it wasn't too hot when she put it on, and because of that my skin was NOT as sensitive when she pulled the strip off. Which apparently equals FAR less pain! (insert one happy dance). My overall is a 4 because a) tiny parking lot, b) no appointments and c) they only take cash or debit cards, and if you pay by card it's an additional $1 charge to use it. And I'm not a fan of paying a fee to pay someone for their services. Oh, and tips are cash only as well. read more

But their service is just getting shittier every year and the shop is dirty. My nails fall off so fast it's ridiculous.. I'm very careful with my nails, so there's no reason why they should fall off so fast. I've noticed that they put hardly any glue, and it's a very cheap quality glue. As for the service, they're not welcoming or nice at all. I feel like ever since they got big on Instagram they think they're guaranteed to have people coming in so they just stopped caring about how they treat people.. I had a guy do my nails who literally didn't say hello, nothing to me. I sat down and he. didn't talk to me once because I showed him a picture and had my color ready so he had nothing to say to me. Very Unprofessional! I asked for a mask as soon as I sat down with the nail tech, she brushed me off by saying "later," it was because she didn't understand what I was asking for, I had to explain what a mask was and then she said they're all out of mask. I showed my nails to the manager when I arrived and she quoted me a price of $25 which included a fill, plus 2 nail replacements along with the v-shaped design. Once I sat down the actual nail tech quoted me a price of $43!!! A $18.00 cost difference. My nail tech was not experienced as I could tell by her techniques, she was really struggling to take off a nail that was very loose, i took it off myself lol. If you don't have a regular nail tech without an appointment they assign you to an amateur nail tech who barely speaks English and who is doing a trial and error job. Finally when I went back to the "Manager," at the front desk she didn't stand by her original price, told me they were out of mask, and when I asked her for a different nail tech to just remove the entire set she said "Maybe you should go somewhere else where they have masks." Till I recently kept seeing really nice designs on their Instagram that I decided to try them again. I went in asking for a full set with gel. I showed the nail tech the design I wanted and he just kept staring at me not saying if he could do the design or not. Turns out he couldn't!! Apparently the design I wanted could only be done by another nail tech who was on vacation. And I get it, we have different talents, but why couldn't he let me know ahead of time? He even told me nobody in the shop could draw a simple flower. Really?! After proceeding to do my nails I asked for the simple rhinestone design on their Instagram And he couldn't even do that!! He put so much top coat and glue that my rhinestones looked white and crusty!! So of course I asked him to do it again. I got my nails done on Friday and with out even trying my nails are already coming off. I think it might be cheep products being used and charging an arm and a leg. The only person I have liked is the first girl to the left as your walking in. I notice how she is in no rush and takes her time. She is probably the only one in there that can do nails. ***NOTE I asked for a simple short natural look.
