I'm on a quest for the "one", in terms of nail salons that is. After admiring my sisters Nightmare Before Christmas inspired Halloween nails a few months ago, and my mom's snowflake nails a couple of days ago, I decided to check this place out. It's a little rough around the edges, but let's add some color shall we? This shop is located in the little strip mall on the corner of Rosecrans and Paramount, behind the Jack in the Box. The parking lot gets a bit crowded as there are about 10 or 12 little stores packed into that one corner. So it's cramped to say the least. But, I got lucky and found a parking spot across from the entrance of the shop. Then again, it was also 3:20pm on a Monday afternoon. I would say it might be harder to find parking at that time when school is in session (there are 2 just down the street, an elementary school and the freshman campus for Paramount High), so maybe go earlier or later depending on your time frame. The shop itself seems very small from the front, but goes back a fair bit. On one side there are 6 or 7 rows of stations, with 2 to a row. There are 4 or 5 spa pedicure massage chairs on the opposite side, with the walkway in the middle of the stations and chairs. So it's a little cramped, and your chair is behind an employees chair, so be careful when you scoot back so you don't bump them and mess up what they are doing. They don't take appointments, which can potentially be a downfall as they are busy. When I came in, I was seated right away after explaining what I was looking to get done to the guy at the front desk. When I left, on the otherhand, there were 4 or 5 people waiting. Maybe it depends on your time of arrival too, because when I left it was about 4:45pm. Anywho, once I explained my design, he called out the name of a nail tech, and told me to go sit down. My techs name was Caryn, and lemme tell ya, she was AWESOME! Unlike most nail shops where the ladies have hard to understand accents, In Style is different. Almost everyone in there seemed to speak English very well, so I was able to have a conversation with Caryn instead of sitting in silence while she chatted with her coworkers. She was super nice, and told me that she didn't understand Vietnamese anyways, because she was Cambodian and we talked a little about the country, the temples, etc. So, that was a nice change! We even conversed about what I was in school for, her school history and how her family thought different jobs were money makers. Definitely a fun conversation(^_^) As its almost Christmas, I requested for a holiday themed nail look. And it had to have glitter. Naturally! Christmas=sparkles and glitter galore! Oh, and a candy cane stripe too, please? Caryn said "No problem, I got this girl!" And asked how I short I wanted my nails, and what shape. I prefer short and slightly squared. Nobody, in the 11 years that I've been getting my nails done, has gotten what I want right the first time. Until now that is. Literally one cut per nail, and she barely had to file them at all. And they are basically just right. Even better? She didn't cut my cuticles with that little metal file tip on those dremel tools they use. Hallelujah! No cuts or scrapes at all actually. I'm not really sure why there are so many negative reviews about this place. Everyone in there seemed to be really happy with their services. Heck, I even had her touch up my eyebrows before I left. That was the most painless waxing I've ever had. Literally the wax was a perfect temperature, so it wasn't too hot when she put it on, and because of that my skin was NOT as sensitive when she pulled the strip off. Which apparently equals FAR less pain! (insert one happy dance). My overall is a 4 because a) tiny parking lot, b) no appointments and c) they only take cash or debit cards, and if you pay by card it's an additional $1 charge to use it. And I'm not a fan of paying a fee to pay someone for their services. Oh, and tips are cash only as well. read more

if i could give 0 stars and write this review i would but thats not an option so consider it a -1 star review -_- seriously so unhappy with everything about this place. i came to try this place out due to their instagram. my nail tech who i absolutely love is out for 2 months due to surgery and wont be back to work  until the end of june.....which is why i decided to come and try this place out. i went in to get a pedicure and a full set.. i had to wait 35 min before i was actually seen. they don't have the best options for polish colors. i had to get my pedicure first...the pedicure was $12 well it definitely was exactly that..she didn't really do much .Im  a cosmetologist and ive been getting pedicures for ever..my massage was prob 1 min per foot/leg..it was horrible. i wanted my toe nails to be filed square and they aren't. im going to basically re-do my own toes. on to my nails..i sat down and the lady didn't say anything to me. i asked her what the price difference was with regular polish and gel polish and she couldn't give me a straight answer...red flag..then i tried to make conversation..told her it was my first time there and i was nervous being somewhere new for my nails. I then showed her a pic of a set I've had in the past so she could understand the length and shape i wanted. medium long, thin & narrow coffin nails.. my nails are crooked & uneven my thumbs don't even look like they are apart of the set that i got they are so short. she over filed on some nails. cut my skin with the file. i did end up getting gel polish and its the only thing i do like..the color of it. it was a waste of $42 they charge $1 to use ur card and i always tip..but everything was so effing horrible i didn't leave anything. I rarely write bad reviews but I just had too for this place. I used to come here every two weeks months ago till I had a bad experience and decided to find a new shop. Till I recently kept seeing really nice designs on their Instagram that I decided to try them again. I went in asking for a full set with gel. I showed the nail tech the design I wanted and he just kept staring at me not saying if he could do the design or not. Turns out he couldn't!! Apparently the design I wanted could only be done by another nail tech who was on vacation. And I get it, we have different talents, but why couldn't he let me know ahead of time? He even told me nobody in the shop could draw a simple flower. Really?! After proceeding to do my nails I asked for the simple rhinestone design on their Instagram And he couldn't even do that!! He put so much top coat and glue that my rhinestones looked white and crusty!! So of course I asked him to do it again. I knew from the get go this guy was in such a hurry to get home but because he was in such a hurry my nails came out horrible and he took twice as long. Everyone in the shop knew I was upset. I'm just walking out of this place, came here to get a manicure & pedicure, along with my daughter who got a new full set. My daughter is happy she got a very good job by this nice guy "Kevin" but, unfortunately I can't say the same thing about the lady "Kim" that did my nails, she was absent and had a really bad attitude the whole time, and all was because I asked to do my manicure fist, she goes and get the water ready for my pedi and I asked again (aren't you gonna do my manicure first?) she said (yes). So I went ahead and put my feet in the water, but when I saw her getting ready to do my pedicure, I told her one more time (I want my manicure first) she said yeah, yeah, but is easier to do it on the table so I'll do it after. Oh no!!!! I'm a paying customer and if I ask for something, I expect to get what I ask for, but I didn't tell her that, just got my feet out of the water and moved to her table. She was so mad and started talking to one of her coworkers in their language, and every since she was rude. I been coming to this place since first week they opened, and Luis the owner (front desk guy) knows it, but if you are planing to get your nails at this place, I don't recommend you to do it on Tuesday or Wednesday, Luis is not here and you'll either be ignore or get crapy customer service. Worst nails ever! I came in here because i saw a few instagram pictures on theuir IG Profile... WOAH!! It was a huge mistake... place is dirty.. my sister had her nails done also we got them done by 2 guys both of them finished in less than 20 minutes and the guy that was doing my nails took a smoke break! Who does that in the middle of their job??? it was the worst experiance ever! i had such an aweful experiance this nail salon made me not get my nails done for 6 months... Also the lady behnd me was complaining her nails were not properly filled and the nail tech did not want to change her naills... I show him a design for my manicure to do the same and I asked him to clean it first before he do any thing because am a bride !!! He said yes and he never did and I remind him he told he will did later ??? The nails was not even in shape each one different length !! This is a high traffic nail salon. No appointments, walk-ins only. This place can't be a 5 star nail salon cause it's not high end. But the service is usually fast. They have a lot of nail techs so most of the time they have someone available right away. Just like any other salon... they have really good nail techs and then some that just don't do that great of a job. You can request someone if you know their name. I've gotten lucky and gotten my nails done by some awesome techs and then I've gotten them done by someone that does a really sloppy job too. read more

This place has the most terrible costumer service ever! I walked in today and the lady in the front desk told me it would be a 5 minute wait for a refill. Literally sat down a minute later I get called. I sat down and the lady files half my nail down. Mind you I had gel color. She files half of them down then she proceeds to refill the acrylic. As she refills them with acrylic she tells me she would be back. She got her bag and left to the back room. I got on my phone let 5 minutes pass by she still doesn't come. I got on my phone again then let another 5 minutes pass by. I asked the lady in the front what happened to the lady that did my nails. She responded she's in the restroom. I then asked her if the nail tech was sick from her stomach? Because it had been more than 15 minutes. She said she didn't know and gave me a smirking face. As I'm getting irritated waiting there with my nails I see the lady in the back taking her lunch. She throws her plate of her soup in the trash then She takes her time comes to the sink in the front where we wash our hands she starts washing her hands, rinses her face, rinses her mouth, touches her teeth with her hands. Checks herself out in the mirror, while she doesn't have a bother in the world. Doesn't even look at me and goes back in the break room. I got so irritated I asked the lady in the front if it was truly necessary for her to take her lunch in the middle of getting my nails done with a semi loud voice. Half the people there were looking at me because I said this loud enough but not in a scandalous way. The front lady responded that there was no one to help me so that's why she did that. Totally justifying why the lady left me hanging there!!! I then still asked her if someone else can finish the job because I clearly don't have time for her to finish her sweet time on her lunch then she states everyone's halfway done with their nails. Basically I had to wait even more. I said I'm leaving! I start wagging my hands in front of her asking her if she was still gonna charge me for those nails she said no and I walked out. She didn't even looked bothered. Costumer service sucks there all the time I live 5 min from here and try avoiding it for this reason. With the techs is a hit or miss. Was told there is no appointment needed so when I got there yesterday around 4 was quickly helped and showed the guy the style I wanted since It was from there Instagram page. Once he started, kept insisting to get them long and the worse part was the he cut me with his own nail and machine and blamed it on the short nails that I wanted. Took him 30 minutes to do them and didn't even come out like the picture from their account and weren't filed right which they came out messed up. Came here with a couple of friends before they went on their cruise. Vi did my nails and was very nice. The only thing that was kind of annoying was that the guy next to her was talking to her in a different language, and they kept laughing while I sat there having no idea what they were saying. My nails are not amazing, but they look nice. My friend got a manicure and design, it was cute but not like the picture. My nails came out crooked and sloppy and adding insult to injury he wanted to charge me 57 for some crooked nails and rhinestone on two nails. I spoke to the boss and he kept sending me to Steven to fix them. Just came to get my nails done, brought in a photo and Nick did a great job at doing exactly what I wanted. Received alot of compliments as I left the shop. I gave it 4 stars just because a few of the rhinestones moved while he was putting them on so it makes my middle nail look a bit crooked. I wish I was able to give this place less stars. First off, it was my very first time here and I was so excited to get my nails done. I told the lady what I wanted and she was already in a bad mood from the start. I ignored it. As the lady was doing my toes I notice that my nails aren't drying and they have bubbles. I assume it was the nail polish so I politely tell the lady that did my hands. She got up and redid my hands so mad. Then she told the lady doing my toes something in their language and the rest of my experience went downhill from there. The lady who did my toes ended up forcing my wet toes into my NEW rainbows so my toes got messed up as well. It's been two hours since my visit and my hands barely dried. I came here because of how close it was to my house. For the most part I had a good experience here...especially when Lucy was working. They've gotten more customers recently and rather than concentrating on how they do the acrylic, they've shifted their focus more on designs... rusulting in nails turning green because of the gaps they've left behind. So disappointed with my service here... I really was looking forward to having my nails done again after 4 long months without them and for what.... As soon as I got seated the worker here said I'll be back in five minutes okay waited.... comes back smells like cigarettes Okay so he needed a break I get it everyone needs one. So I tell him I would like my nails this way and nothing... Then he says what shape I tell him he cuts them and I asked him can you cut them shorter he says they are gonna look ugly short and I'm like well I've gotten them done before... I didn't say anything I just said okay and then continued to receive this sassy ugly attitude from him (Helen has done them amazingly gorgeous like this style before) So point is I will wait till she comes back to ever come back here.... Also thank you to the nice young lady in the front desk for having someone fix the color of my nails the other guys was great.... wish I would've got his name I know some people have bad days but honestly when it comes to giving someone attitude for no reason when they maybe had a rough week already (me) is really unnecessary and this place is to unwind relax hopefully this will help improve your staffs mentality to how to treat others :/ read more
