I finally got to try California's famous In-N-Out on a busy Sunday afternoon and found it extremely... mid, and I don't understand the long lines. Their Chocolate shake wasn't too bad, but also didn't taste any different from shakes I had in the past, nor was my friend's burger, which I took a bite of, anything spectacular either. I felt a little ballsy and ordered an item from the secret menu: Animal-Styled fries, which consisted of American-melted cheese, grilled onions, and Thousand Island sauce. While the toppings sounded appealing, I was extremely let down by the fries; they weren't crispy at all, and they didn't have any salt. Their grilled onions were my favorite, but that's me being generous since nothing else was delivering. I also wish their cheese were more melted, since it made the fries a bit difficult to scoop. I always go to an In & Out when visiting a state that has one since I don't live around one. I always get the cheeseburger so that's what I opted for this time but I also added a strawberry milkshake to my order. The burger did not disappoint of course, and the milkshake paired nicely with it. My friend ordered the animal style fries for us to share since I've never tried them before. I'm not a big fan of onions but I was pleasantly surprised by how they tasted along with the cheese and sauce on top of the fries. My main take away from this location is that the tables were all dirty. It took us a while to find a table that didn't need to be wiped down. I got a lettuce wrap burger and it was delicious and a little messy to eat since I got the grilled onions. UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: went back to this in-n-out location a few days ago. I just had to come update this from 2 stars to 5 stars. I had the best burger I've had in a very long time. The patty was grilled to perfection with that famous in n out char. Perfect amount of onions and sauce and even the bun was toasted perfectly. New staff is doing a great job. For starters, this location is no longer as busy as it once was when they first opened up. Their staff is quick and food comes out decently fast. Most times I've gone it's been through the drive thru, so I can't really speak on how busy the inside is. As far as the food goes, the burgers are really good. Everything tastes pretty fresh and the animal style option is my favorite for the burgers. I love the extra spread and the grilled onions. By far the worst part of In-n-Out are their fries. They have the texture of a sponge, I always get them animal style to try to make them somewhat edible but even then they're quite literally awful.
