The problem as I see it is to not take my order and tell me to pull around but to inform me that right now we are out of chicken and it c will be a 30 minute wait. It's a Saturday not a Friday or whatever day is a popular day. Wasn't told so there were 3 cars ahead of me. When the last car pulled off that got their order you knew when I got to the window to inform me that there was no chicken up and ask if I wanted to wait not just assume it was okay. I've been here so many times I'm nearly a regular haha. Quality, service, and food are all awesome! Can't go wrong with a tender basket with fries, a roll, and a family size gravy to dip! Get the spicy powder seasoning and throw a bit into the gravy and you got the ultimate sauce for your tenders or like me just drink it with a straw haha. Their Roasted chicken is always juicy and the Tenders are well battered with Spicy seasoning. Their Sweet tea is a must when I come in to take out. And yes their small "sonic ice" just adds the cherry on top. As far as sides, ALL sides are delicious. The fries, fried Okra, mac n cheese, or even their salad are always good. Usually, this place is my go-to fast food restaurant because of how delicious the food is and how fast they provide your meal with good service, but today was the exact opposite. I don't know if it's because of the whole pandemic going on, but I have never waited in a drive thru for 45 minutes especially when there wasn't that many cars in front of me. When I finally got to the ordering station, I had to wait for them to be ready. When I pulled up to the window, I had to wait even more because the system was "shut down." And they didn't even get my order correctly, almost giving me someone else's order. After an hour home, I was just ready to eat, but I realized they forgot to add the spice for my "spicy" golden tenders. That's was my first time in their drive thru, but will be the last. I'm just going to wait after this pandemic settles down so I can order inside and get my food within 5 minutes. Thankfully, the food is still great. read more

This is my 4th time dropping by at this joint and it has never disappointed me. The staff is friendly and to the point as I usually never run into that issue because I am respectful towards those working hard. The chicken is always fresh when they have asked me to wait and the rolls are buttery and delicious. I always get some side to go with my meal and I love the fries, jalapeño poppers, rolls, mash potatoes, Mac n' cheese, and the corn nuggets. To my surprise the staff member helping me at the register asked if I wanted to give the new funnel cake a try and with my sweet tooth I couldn't pass it up and I am so glad that I didn't because I'm a huge fan now. I have been a long term customer to the one en route to Austin and would always stop for a road snack. Things I like: juicy roasted chicken, fried wings, fried okra, sweet soft rolls Things I did not like: the actual 20+ min wait in the drive thru. Ordering was quick and there was only one car in front of me at the window but we literally sat in the drive thru for 10 min. I assumed it was bc he had a huge order and mine would be quick after but was told it would be another 7 min for fresh wings. I would have appreciated knowing this while ordering bc I would've just simply chose something else instead of waiting 10 MORE minutes The quality of the food at this location is on par w the other locations and the employees were professional. But if you're not able to get FAST food out quickly, don't make a drive thru cause the point of that is for us to drive right through...not stop for 20+ min in park staring out the window debating if I should move up a bit and pump gas while I wait just to be productive. read more

I have recently discovered this fast food chicken chain of restaurants. Having eaten at the Weistheimer location about a month ago and giving it a 5, I have to do the same here. This location is kind of strange to me. It's not located on a major thoroughfare instead between the Beltway and FM 1960 on Spears road. On top of that it, the restaurant is connected directly next door to a Subway and a gas station. It is small on the inside but still nice and has a drive thru like the other location. That night I wanted to try fried chicken as opposed to the roasted chicken I tried on Westheimer. I was warmly greeted at the counter and placed my order for a 3 piece plate with dirty rice as my side. It also comes with a soft drink. With tax the total was $8.11. The food was ready in less than 5 minutes (see pic). The rice was well seasoned and was one of the better dirty rice dishes I have had in a while. Usually dirty rice is very bland. Not here. It tasted very authentic to south Louisiana. The fried chicken was excellent and very satisfying. The yeast rolls they serve here are pillow soft and yum yum good. And all of this and a free ice cream cone for that price. What a value! Golden Chick is superior to its competition. It's chicken and sides are better than KFC, Popeyes, Church's, Frenchy's, etc. Their restaurants are nice and clean and the employees are of a higher caliber. I predict much success for this chain. I left so angry on Sunday July 18, 2021. I called in a simple order--3 catfish filets and small okra--for my mother. The manager was professional and cordial..She told me when I get to the drive through, simply tell them my name and I have the 3 catfish and small okra....I pulled up to the drive in said what the manager told me to say---well, I tried.. I said I was YELLED at to come to second window and no order..He gave me the look and stepped around the bin and peered at me from behind it.. A young lady walked up to take my order. Someone else walked in and she took them instead --because they had an online order I guess....I was listening...Their order was left without what they ordered.. The young AA (piercing in her bottom lip)manager walked by and seemed oblivious to surroundings. The office is in earshot. When she walked up to put a drawer there at front counter, I asked her did she just take the call in order I placed? She said yes. I then told her that her conversation was a "dichotomy" from service I received when I got there. Unfortunately, the best thing she could say was--"any of those young kids could've answered the speaker"..I thought Really??I thought--go to the one with a headset on?? I then actually said, "oh my goodness( about boy who YELLED )if you don't want a job quit".. Since the great review I gave about the manager being there all day and still gave great service- this Golden Chick has been hit or miss.. Managers!!! Train your crew! Fantastic Golden Chick. Got the 25 piece chicken tenders with three family sides, gravy, and six rolls. Packaged beautifully, order was correct, food was hot, fresh, and delicious. Excellent service. I definitely appreciate a good chicken salad sandwich, people have been raving about golden chicken and I was like eh..... It's right around the corner from my house which was why I never thought of trying it, it's an odd location for a golden chicken to be at.... Anyways today on a gloomy "flood watch" type of day I was in the mood for a chicken salad.. Literally a salad but I decided to give golden chicken a try. Ordered the chicken salad meal with a sweet tea and fries. Drive through was a quick in and out which was definitely a plus for me. Got my food, fries smelled delicious so I couldn't help myself. They remind me of jack in the box curly fries but quality is 10 times better, natural thick cut fries and just the right crunch. The chicken salad sandwich was surprisingly very full, the chicken salad had actually large chunks of chicken which like I said I can appreciate a good chicken salad sandwich. Seasoning was good, not too much mayo to over power the chicken and the bread was the icing on the cake. Soft toasty buttery bread not just two buns thrown together and go. Last but not least I'm a big sweet tea drinker, their sweet tea I can sip and drink all day, flavorful but not overly sweet. It was my son's idea to try this restaurant as it's close to his school and on the way home. It was a great idea. I ordered the little wingettes combo. The wings were seasoned very well. The fries were pretty good too. The roll was hands down the best part of the meal. My son ordered the chicken tenders combo and he also enjoyed his dinner. Service was quick. Staff was kind. Golden Chick has greatly improved since my initial review. I'm a fan of the wicked wings. This location is consistent. If you want fresh wings, they will be more than happy to fry them for you as long as you're willing to wait. The rolls are soft and they taste great too. Waited 30 mins which they say it was going to be a wait but I didn't know that long. Ok I think the cook is trying to make me pay for asking for fresh chicken. The fish seemed like it had been sitting out and just thrown back In the fryer.... We been at the aquarium all day and are tired and hungry so I'm go eat it.
