Very okay. Chicken is a little dry and rice taste a little off. Went last at night so that might have been the bottom of the pot food.

They offer 7 freshly made sides you can pick from with all the usual favorites like rice, French Fries, coleslaw, Mac & Cheese and beans. Two other unique sides are Sweet Plantains and Yuca Fries. They offer 2, 3, & 4 piece meals which includes two sides. Also, in addition to soft drinks (Pepsi products) and ice tea try the Horchata, Mango and Jamaica drinks. Horchata is my favorite. The fried chicken is juicy and definitely different from KFC and Popeyes. The full menu includes chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, and a spring mix salad.

They let you order your meal mixing fried and roasted pieces so I did. I also have tried the campero beans and cole slaw as side dishes. Prices are very reasonable. A 3 piece chicken meal with one side dish with self serve drink and tax runs about $13. Two piece meals are less of course. The chicken here tastes very good. As long as it is hot, the roasted version is seasoned and very juicy. The fried version had a nice seasoned crust and was also juicy inside. I think I liked the fried a little better but would be ok with either. Their sides are even better. My order of campero beans were hot and very flavorful. The cole slaw was cool and creamy with a rich taste. Those two were quality side dishes. This is the only outpost of Pollo Campero that I have visited. It remains to be seen if the other locations are consistent with this one. I have found that Golden Chick disappoints more than it succeeds. As of now, Pollo Campero is my fave of this type of restaurant.

Not without strain ofcourse, I was just a little distracted with other pursuits and unwilling to make the drive to Humble. My first visit to the Spring location, I'm excited to announce that Chick Houz and I have reunited, and the meal was delicious. We ordered the family meal (the chicken special), both desserts :), and ofcourse a chicha morada. The whole chicken plus three sides was enough to feed four (and likely another), and while we were expecting maximum flavor from the chicken, the yucca fries were a beautiful, crispy, soft, comforting surprise. If I could, I'd eat them daily. That being said, I'd honestly reorder everything. If you've yet to give them a visit, know that they're worth droppin

The restaurant itself is cozy and inviting, with plenty of seating. The menu offers a solid variety without being overwhelming. Our food came out quickly, hot, and smelled amazing right from the start. I ordered the Lomo Saltado--tender beef sautéed with red onions and Roma tomatoes, served with white rice and crispy French fries, topped with a touch of cilantro. It was very flavorful and satisfying. I also had a cup of chicha, the traditional drink made from purple Peruvian corn, and it was nicely done. We also tried the Brasa Burrito, which was packed with pulled rotisserie chicken, queso fresco, green onions, cilantro aioli, and a bit of fried rice (chaufa-style), along with black beans, Mexican crema, crispy onions, romaine lettuce, and Roma tomatoes on the side, plus your choice of sauce. A unique and tasty combination. The rotisserie chicken itself was excellent--juicy and well-seasoned. We had a half chicken (all white meat) served with rice chaufa and French fries, which made for a hearty and delicious meal. Our server was attentive throughout, checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. While it wasn't as authentic as what I'm used to, it was still a very enjoyable meal--especially for Texas.

My order: 5 piece spicy with Laynes sauce and ranch it ran about $14 for the meal. Chicken- very fresh they were definitely made to order for us. Very crunchy and juicy. Seasoning/Spice level- wasn't too spicy. More on the mild heat. I'm very sensitive to salty food these were highly salty. That was my only critique bc other than that they were delicious. They are also real tenders unlike canes which seem to be strips of chicken breast. Laynes sauce was decent. I tasted the black pepper. Paprika and definitely celery salt in there. Those note were very up front. The ranch was just ranch lol. The meal came with fries and some Texas toast. They also have shakes that's looked good but didn't try one this time. Now the story: Ok wow this place was an eye opener and had me highly curious my friend said u got to try Layne's chicken I'm like I had canes before. He said no Laynes. I'm like I never heard of that before. So we went since it sparked my interest we went and on the ride there I was wondering what came first? A new "chicken or the egg?" Thing. Lol. So I looked it up on AI and sure enough Laynes was in 94 and originated in college station TX. And canes. In 96 in NOLA. As we pull up to this location on 132 E Airtex Dr. you would never believe what was right next to this place. Yessss A Mother flipping Canes lol. I'm like are we on a batttle ground right now. lol. They literally have the same menu. And are neighbors. So now it was even more of a question which one is better? So it you are trying to decide: LAYNES - actual chicken tenters. Crunchy. Juicy. Way more flavor. Even though highly salty. Maybe it was just the spicy ones. I don't try the regular tenders. The do offer shakes here as well looked good but didn't try them. Always a plus for some shakes. Laynes is definitely a place to go to. Canes, Who's ur daddy? The answer to that is Laynes lol

Let me start off by saying I use to go to the original Layne's in College Station a few years back…read morewhen my daughter was at Texas A&M and it was one block from her apt. The chicken fingers were a lot larger and I think hand battered, but definitely made to order. With that said all chicken finger/tender places (Cane's and Zaxby's) all went to way smaller size fingers/tenders around Covid time. That is my only complaint is the size of the fingers/tenders. Not sure if Layne's still hand batters or if they now use pre battered frozen product. Couldn't tell by looks. Size went down and price went up lol...3 piece spicy is what I ordered and $9.49 Hot and tasted great, good spice and I got the jalapeño ranch sauce..nice kick and sauce was great. Place is brand new and looks fresh and modern and clean. I will return but on a day that I am really hungry I'll have to order the 4 piece but at $11.40 it's pretty high.
