Don't bother. Pretentious, understaffed, unhelpful, unorganized, waste of time. Waiting for 20 minutes at the bar and couldn't get served. F*** this place. Plenty of other options close by. read more

Not a fan. Ordered from two different female bartenders, both of whom acted as if they were doing me a favor by helping me. Also, I ordered a La Folie, which never comes in a pint (anywhere), so I didn't notice that on the menu it's offered in both a 10 ounce and a pint (this was my first time at Improper City). Bartender brings me a pint without bothering to ask/clarify which size I wanted, which seems negligent (if there are two sizes, should you not ask the customer what they want?). Additionally, I was then served a brown ale (instead of a La Folie) for my second round and when I took it back to the bar the bartender said she always gets them confused. A brown and a sour from two different breweries? Okay... Unfriendly service and failing to ask what size I wanted when two are offered = 2 stars. read more

Well I would like to rank this place higher. They have a great backyard with food trucks, seating, and corn home. Except beware that seating and cornhole sets can be reserved so it may be unused or empty but if it's reserved you'll be kicked off. Look for their signs which on one side have one reservation time and on the other side has a different reservation time so if you only see one side then you wouldn't even know it's reserved. They have 4 corn hole sets. 1 was for the public. 2 were reserved. And 1 was sitting to the side not used but I was told it's also for the reservation. I say all this so you know this is the type of place that's awesome to be at if they aren't doing reservations. As soon as that happens they lose all credit of being a casual laid back hang out place that they are trying to be. Again love the concept, hate the game plan. read more

I'm super happy that improper city will reopen soon. I miss hanging out there while working (great coffee) and playing (great beer selection). They support local artists and I thank Tori, Lexi, and Meagan for letting my paintings hang there before the shutdown. Welcome back. See you there. read more

Absolutely awesome space! Indoor area is very large and a cool setup but the outdoor patio/activity area is what it's all about. They had 4 food trucks that pull into the patio area, cornhole/bags, outdoor serving staff and plenty of seating. They are dog friendly outside, but please don't bring a dog if they never stop barking, that's no fun for anybody around. Knocking them one star because of their prices, maybe I ordered two abnormal beers but $11 and $8 for a pint is crazy expensive. read more

As a general rule, this place is pretty good. It's a large, airy space with lots of seating and options for plugs if you're working. The wifi works well and the options of bar or coffee is good depending on what kind of drink you need to get your work done. Parking is extremely limited in front but usually you can find a spot right around the corner. Typically, the people behind the counter in the morning are perfectly nice and get everything done correctly with a smile, albeit sometimes really slowly, especially if you order food that needs to be warmed (like a burrito or a muffin). Most of the people who work there, if it's not busy, will take the care to bring your drink to your table, which is a nice touch. I've been in this space for my fiancée's office party, and the staff were always wonderful. I'm knocking off a star for this otherwise 4-star spot because of the experience we had at 7am on Wednesday 2/20/19. My fiancée and I arrived to a completely empty coffee shop, with the exception of the barista (white, straight black hair to her chin, and bangs - she was wearing a yellow beanie) and one man who had already ordered and received his drink. She was chatting with him at the time we walked up to the counter, and proceeded to ignore us for several seconds before turning to us, irritated, and saying "hi?" as if there were a question to why we were there. We both ordered - a small almond milk latte and a medium regular latte, both "for here" - and she sighed at us and put the order in the computer. She didn't have anything to say to us that wasn't rude or snippy, though as I said she was just able to carry on a pleasant conversation with the guy before us. When the drinks were done, she never called them out to let us know they were ready (we had sat down around the corner) or brought them over to the table. I went up to get them, said "thank you!" and she just goes, "yup" with her back to me and no attempt to be polite. BOTH of our drinks were made incorrectly. They were both put in to-go cups, despite us asking for mugs to stay (maybe an unconscious desire of her's for us to leave?) and the almond milk latte was made medium and the regular made small instead of vice versa. Keep in mind, this woman had NO other customers in the store and therefore nothing else to do except make two very simple drinks. We sat there, drinking our incorrectly-made coffee because we were too fed up to ask her to take forever to remake them. We watched as she interacted perfectly nicely with the next several construction men who came in from the job site across the street before leaving. Overall, a very disappointing customer service experience from an otherwise nice place to grab a drink or coffee. read more

I can't take it any more!!! I've had mind blowing bad service more than a few times now. Don't dare ask for water, I was told by a bartender I can get my own. On a separate visit a server asked if she could get me anything else, I said some more water would be nice, she said next time I can get it myself. On yet another trip there were 7 bartenders and, very few customers because it was around 3 in the afternoon, after being ignored for over 10 minutes, my GF said "excuse me, can we get a drink" they said they are busy trying to close tabs and can't help us. Crazy. read more

The bartenders are super slow and they'll ignore you while you attempt to order for awhile. I think they prioritize people outside, so maybe that's why, but ultimately I ended up waiting a LONG time just to order a beer and felt like the staff was rude when I finally got the chance read more

Love coming here after work with my co-workers. They offer a little bit of everything, making it nice that everyone can get a drink they'll be happy with. The outdoor space is wonderful to relax and enjoy. Johan is absolutely amazing and a joy to have as a server! read more

Blonde barista (was brunette last week) ...why do you give me the death-glare everyday?! I am friendly. I tip well. ...customer service is real. Other than that, I love this place. Hence why I am here everyday. read more

Great service, smiles and good vibes. Always clean and the staff is great, well trained and professional. A great place to relax with friends or after work colleagues. read more

A very unique experience, it's a bar, it's a coffee shop, and it's a beer garden all with a climbing gym attached next door. During the summer months especially durning the weekend you can count on the crowd to be plenty and a food truck or two on sight allowing you to end up spending more time then you planned. The patio is massive and dog friendly so make sure to bring your pups along with you for a beer or two. The drink selection is large with a lot of the beers on tap from local breweries making it suitable to all beer drinkers taste buds. They have live music inside the bar area that opens up to the patio and will have musicians playing frequently. Overall this is a great place to spend some time at I plan to visit more often then not! read more

Improper City is what Sunday Funday has been waiting for. We went here for St. Patrick's Day (an expectedly busy day) WITH a baby and even with what could be considered a large crowd this place felt comfortable and inviting. We had no trouble getting drinks, no trouble finding a place to lounge, and all the staff we came across were friendly and helpful. It's basically all the benefits of spending an afternoon in the park but with a nicer atmosphere, better food, delicious drinks, and coffee readily available. Really, it doesn't get better than this. read more

Management, where are you at??? Zero stars for staff, 5 stars for space and ambiance. The staff here looks miserable, too bored to acknowledge your presence, distracted by cell phone and picking at the nose ring. Really??? Primary duties of a person behind the bar unaccomplished, basic questions answered rudely, no response to a simple "thank you". Get tf out of the service industry, ladies! read more

What an AMAZING establishment! I am so impressed with this venue, their staff, and their drinks. I brought a very large group to Improper City on a Friday night and they handled the group very well getting drinks out on time and creating a fantastic environment. The DJ they had that night was incredible, and the outside patio is huge. It fits in very well with RINO and adds a new funky and fresh twist on the bar scene. If you are looking for something new, Improper is your place. A coffee, coworking space by day and a hip bar by night. Lexie, their event coordinator is impressive as well - friendly and approachable. Whether you are coming to a day to relax, a night out, or for a large party, I HIGHLY recommend this venue! Can't wait to go back! read more

Went during summer and it was great atmosphere. Good drinks, outdoor activities, etc. highly recommend any out of towners to check out improper city. read more

For studying or working, it's a great late night option (open till midnight). The internet is fast and reliable, and everyone is super friendly. It is also dog-friendly which is nice. It definitely gets loud (with bass) in the evening, and they stop serving coffee at 6pm since they are trying to make it more of a bar/lounge/party/hangout spot. Tons of outlets everywhere make it a no-brainer for studying or working. read more

I came here for the first time the other day for a happy hour and had a great time! There was a ton of space and seating, and the outdoor space was amazing. Looking forward to coming back on a nice weekend to enjoy the patio some more! It was a little difficult to get a drink, especially for being a slow weeknight, but they did have a great selection of drinks. Will hopefully be back soon! read more

A million times "yes" to Improper City. I'm so happy this place exists in RiNo! Great work space, amazing staff, fun old school games, collaborative environment. Best of all, share's the building with Movements Bouldering gym! 13/10 would recommend for the remote life workers of the world! read more

One of my absolute favorite places in Denver. Great coffee and tea. You can even get tea in small or large pots if your planning on getting some work done. They have the biggest patio in Denver with fireplaces. Also good trucks. Occasionally there is also live music. They always serve beer, wine and cocktails. read more

Great place to take the computer and work. Plenty of outlets usually and a great open environment where many locals come for remote working. An upstairs area with additional seating. Also a very large patio area with food truck options usually. My go to spot for working remotely because of the outlets and the great environment. Coffee is just ok, but is bottomless while at the venue. This place also serves beer, but prices seem a bit high and the happy hour selection doesn't include the entire beer selection. Still, for coffee and the outlets this place can't be beat in the area. read more

We love working here for group meetings! The coffee is hot, the chocolate croissants are delicious and they have outlets everywhere :)

bartender wearing the white and blue shirt with the khaki pants and long black hair is rude.... immediately started judging my friend and i upon arrival. he starts to take our order and immediately asks for my ID, which is fine I understand the law. but as he's looking at my ID he not only stares at my ID for a long time but looks me up and down afterwards with some kind of snare on his face... and then continues to curse at me once i ask for our order.... will never go back read more

I love Improper City! However bartenders are always been so rude and has some issues. And it has gotten worse. Such a nice place with unmatched customer service. read more

Big fan of this space. Weather to chill and do work, have a beer, or throw an event. The staff is prompt and friendly and it's always a good time. Beer selection is amazing. Coffee is decent. Snacks is nice and food truck is great convenience ! Looking forward to seeing what they do with the space this summer !!! read more

Hosted an event here last night. Lexi and the team are amazing. Super helpful and accommodating. Bar staff was generous enough to skip a company event to serve us. Huge venue but doesn't feel cavernous. We had several pop ups inside and it worked out great. The food trucks and outside space are another great touch. Thanks so much. Kat read more

Love this place! Food trucks, swinging chairs, and a vast selection of cocktails next to a climbing gym. What more could you ask for?!

Brought a my friends in for a birthday party. Awesome beer selection and they had an espresso bar too. Recommend hanging out on the patio!

Awesome craft beer and coffee bar that can be enjoyed in any weather conditions because of extra large patio that has fire pits, games, and plenty of seating. Great drink choices, tasty food trucks, and friendly staff! read more

Awesome spot for a morning coffee, afternoon beer, or evening cocktail! Well located next to Movement Climbing gym, Improper City has a super open and airy floorplan that makes the space feel very comfortable and spacious. While only open for a few weeks of the "season" thus far, the outdoor space is huge and is the best spot in RiNo to hang out on a weekend afternoon with friends, play games, and chat over a beer. This place will be a staple of the RiNo neighborhood, no doubt. read more

The ambience is alright with large open areas to entice you to talk to that boojsh bro or broeena you've been eyeing all night. What it makes up for in space it lacks in flavor. The bar's list is uninspiring and droll. Another overpriced banal bar for Five Points. While you can have coffee too, this place is hardly Improper. Shall we call it Proper City for it's clean sheen American dream for yuppies? There is yet a thing so as Improper as it's lack of a soul. Blaise Cendrars is rolling in his grave. read more

Tried out Improper City for the first time today and their patio opening! We initially went inside, and the space was super roomy and well lit. Some people were working on laptops and others were sitting down for coffee or beer. The patio was spacious with awesome food truck options and great seating. Will definitely be coming back soon! read more

i had Gianna as my server and she was absolutely amazing! it felt like she truly cared about our experience. i can't wait to came back!

What a great find! We drove past this randomly and had to Google to find out what it was given the cool name. Basically, by day it is a coffee shop/coworking space, and by night it is a bar. I can only speak to daytime, but the coffee is hot and tasty, there is tons of seating in different styles, WiFi, and lots of plugs. Also the owner has said he encourages people to linger and work, rather than emphasizing turning tables. Very stylish! Apparently later they will add an outdoor beer garden and "food truck pad." This place makes me feel cooler just stepping inside and is all around the perfect spot to write during the day. The baristas are really friendly too! read more

Love the atmosphere, but the bartenders ruin the experience. They're so cold and rude. This place is lit. Still has work in progress to build the patio (which looks like it will be impressive), but what is done so far is phenomenal! Seating is versatile and spacious, decorations are beyond trendy, and there is even a phone room for business calls! Employees were friendly and gave my friend and I a tour. read more
