I am waiting patiently not being rude by yelling for someone or waving my hand just patiently waiting and the 5 bartenders working all walked by me multiple times but still served others before me. Usually in Denver bartenders do first come First serve not here. I will not be returning sadly even though such a cool spot. Blatantly being ignored when your just standing there is not okay. I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Most recently I was here and their COVID-19 accommodations were amazing. They offer an option to sit down, order your drink from an app and have it delivered to your table to avoid excessive social contact. Their cocktails are great, as well as their beer selection. I love the vibe as there are always some people working, some socializing, and some just grabbing a drink or a bite. Last but not least, they always bring in amazing food trucks to try out. I live in the neighborhood and have been here multiple times since they opened late last summer. When they first opened it was a pretty relaxed environment and we were able to enjoy the different food trucks and decent drinks and beers on tap. It was a nice addition to the neighborhood and we were hoping that vibe would continue. However, all good things come to an end. The last two times we have stopped by, it has been so crowded, the service (which has never been that great) was extra slow and bartenders we rude to our group about multiple beer orders and I am sorry, you are charging 9 dollars for a beer and are serving it in a plastic glass. We also had people in our group order 10+ dollar cocktails and they were served in the tiniest plastic glasses. This is not LoDos or the Tavern, but recently, I think they are trying to be as the noise, rowdy crowd and garbage in the neighborhood has increased. The noise is what is actually keeping me from coming back. The Denver noise requirements state 'quiet time' between the hours of 10pm and 7am. This establishment does not care about the relationships with its neighbors. A few weeks ago on a Wednesday at midnight (music had been blasting since 8pm) I called over and asked if they could either close the garage door or turn it down a bit for the good of the neighbors, I was told by a staff member to 'move out of the neighborhood if I don't like the noise.' Classy answer. This place has so much potential to be a great neighborhood spot, but since they do not seem to care about the neighborhood and the residents that live there, I will take my business to the other great local neighborhood bars/breweries that value the RiNo residents. read more

Enjoyed a Saturday evening into the night here with my friends and it was a blast ! Put our names down for a few tables as we all trickled in. At first they told us it would be over an hour for a table. It may have been, it may not have been. We didn't care ! We started at the bar inside. My first choice was the "Bikini Bottom" refreshing with just the right amount of mint. As the sun went down I switched to beer and now The Left Handed Flamingo is my favorite ! There were two food trucks. We ordered the "It's Greek To Me Fries" and added Gyro meat. We were in heaven. The servers and bartenders worked together but we mostly ordered from Wendy. She was awesome and I could tell happy to make our party epic. She even took picture of us :) we can't wait to take more friends to this hot spot. read more

I come here regularly with my laptop to do work while having a coffee or beer. As I was packing things up and putting my laptop away, he accused my of stealing property from the establishment. I happily showed him my entire bag. He then realized It was my laptop. After realizing he falsely accused me of stealing, he didn't do anything to fix the ridiculous situation. No apology. Used the Denver Passport to try it out for the first time. Passport works for draft beer, wine and cocktails. Drinks were really good on draft! Had 2 of the drinks on draft. Really wish the bartender could've given more detail on the drinks when the digital menu and had switched past what was available. Overall a great experience. Improper City is my go-to for meetings and after work happy hours. I love the variety of soft seating which promotes a great vibe for both professional one-on-ones and social meetups. The patio is a great hangout spot spring through fall. The fire pits really add a lot of value on chilly nights, just as I also appreciate the umbrellas on the picnic tables during sunny afternoons. The only negative is that I haven't been impressed with the food truck options, however, the local beer selection (hello, Odell Sippin' Pretty and anything from Cerebral) and the dirty chai lattes have been enough to keep me coming back 2-4 times a week! read more

Improper city is a really great bar/cafe that is connected to the new Movement bouldering gym. This is a MASSIVE space with tons of seating (indoor and out), great coffee, great beer, and even food trucks. It truly is a one stop shop. I have been over here a few times now since they opened. They have had live music inside. You could get up close and get your dance on, or hang out in the back on the couches and still enjoy conversion with a nice background. Bartenders have been great as well. Knowledgable on the nice beer selection and they have a really cool mobile ordering/payment system so you don't have to leave your table. They JUST finished the patio and I am super excited..supposedly one of the bigger patios in the city! Now that it is finished there will be more food trucks and even more space to hang out. read more

One of my absolute favorite coffee shops/ bars, before and during covid. Always great music, with the fun artsy vibe of RiNo. The size of both the indoor and outdoor spaces are great and there's not a time limit--convenient for working all day, transitioning from coffee to alcohol. They have bagels and burritos, good coffee, and every kind of drink option, including the best local cider, beer, and wine. Most days there's a food truck outside (schedule on their website). The only downside is the outlets--they are sparse, and if they're all taken, you're on your computer battery's time :) My only suggestion is to add more outlets/ extension cords! read more

Super disappointed in their customer service. I was with a couple of my friends and we put our names down on the waitlist to be seated, they said it would be 30 min. I come back after 30 min to check how much longer it would be, and the hostess said "oh we aren't seating customers any longer". This review is for daytime working hours only. Yes like everyone says this place is huge! Lots of couches and different level seating. There are plugs for computers and the music isn't too loud to talk or get work done. My macchiato was more bitter and cold than I would have liked but my coworker enjoyed his pour over. The waitresses do walk around, or you can go up to the bar and order. My only reasons for 4 stars is the WiFi was going in and out, cell service for AT&T was very poor in the building, and for being mid day there was still no parking around. BUT I still think improper city has it going on and will be back for more hip work sessions. It's a easy transition from coffee to beer when they have both! read more

Such an incredible spot! Their indoor bar is super spacious and has such incredible art and multiple photo spots! They have a large selection of beer from multiple different breweries. The day we went there were food trucks set up outside where there were multiple picnic tables with umbrellas for shade and some in the sun (if you're into that). We hosted an event here on 7/27 from 7-9pm. ~70 people. We rented the RiNo Room downstairs, which was a fantastic space. The only tiny negative would be that it can get a little loud on a busy night. But everything else about the experience was spectacular. We had an awesome event coordinator who helped us out a ton. Communication was excellent. Our dedicated server, Dani, was amazing. Friendly, attentive, over-the-top service. The venue provided us with tickets to give to our attendees for the food trucks, and they had a printed sign with our event name to reserve the space. And several staff members periodically checked in with me throughout the night to ask if I needed anything. Highly recommend for your next event of 20-100 people. read more

Definitely some good coffee here. I can't speak to the cocktails as I've only come for coffee at this point. I got the bulletproof coffee and it was delicious. I came at 2pm on a Monday and it was packed. I was still able to find a seat as the space is ginormous but unfortunately, all of the seats near outlets were taken (as expected). It's definitely got a "cool/hipster" vibe which is fun but with that came a bit of pretentiousness. Me and my eight year old Samsung laptop just didn't quite fit in with all of the Macbooks (I'm young and hip, I swear!). Still a cool place and I will definitely be back to try out some cocktails! I read in other reviews that coffee service ends at 6pm but I didn't see any signs saying that so that's still a mystery. We may have been those people that checked out the patio space for opening weekend...and we're glad we did. Things need to be ironed out for sure; especially with the bar situation. Having a weird rope system is going to work for a bit, but once the place starts to really get packed, it's not a good choice. A better system for ordering drinks needs to happen before the summer season. A stamp, a bracelet, secret handshake...anything to save myself and hundreds of other people from constantly removing my 21+ form of ID to order an adult beverage will make things move so much quicker. Glad that the food trucks will start rotating. Fingers crossed for winter themed beverages to sip by the super cool/industrial looking fire pits. Improper City is cool. This place is awesome for large groups ( dog and kid friendly). They have GREAT beers on tap and food trucks that rotate every weekend. The vibe is always relaxed. Plenty of seating. On weekends they have local musicians. Which is awesome! The only reason I haven't given them 5 stars is service is still spotty. When they get busy the resort to a line, rather than a walk up bar or servers at tables. It can be a bite of a wait and really a hassle when you have larger groups to wait in line just to order a beer. I'm sure they will figure it out, and when they do, I'll be there! read more

They just opened a week ago, so I stopped in for a test beer. They have a good selection on tap and in cans, as well as sake, cocktails, wine, and a coffee shop. There is currently a Crescent City food truck (New Orleans) parked out front. I like the decor, lots of shades of gray, subtle remod warehouse look. The music is not too loud, and the sound level is surprisingly low considering the size of the space, although if it was packed it might get loud. Last night on the impromptu beer cruiser ride we had a great time. However, I had a very bad moment at Improper City. We had parked our bikes along the back wall and were hanging out on their patio. Well, the staff decided that they do not want people parking there. So they picked up my bike which I had just locked to itself and they moved it around the corner onto the sidewalk. That happened as I was in the bathroom. When I returned I noticed my bike was missing ran out to the street and thankfully found it and my gear still intact. Not a fan. Ordered from two different female bartenders, both of whom acted as if they were doing me a favor by helping me. Also, I ordered a La Folie, which never comes in a pint (anywhere), so I didn't notice that on the menu it's offered in both a 10 ounce and a pint (this was my first time at Improper City). Bartender brings me a pint without bothering to ask/clarify which size I wanted, which seems negligent (if there are two sizes, should you not ask the customer what they want?). Additionally, I was then served a brown ale (instead of a La Folie) for my second round and when I took it back to the bar the bartender said she always gets them confused. A brown and a sour from two different breweries? Okay... Unfriendly service and failing to ask what size I wanted when two are offered = 2 stars. read more

Well I would like to rank this place higher. They have a great backyard with food trucks, seating, and corn home. Except beware that seating and cornhole sets can be reserved so it may be unused or empty but if it's reserved you'll be kicked off. Look for their signs which on one side have one reservation time and on the other side has a different reservation time so if you only see one side then you wouldn't even know it's reserved. They have 4 corn hole sets. 1 was for the public. 2 were reserved. And 1 was sitting to the side not used but I was told it's also for the reservation. I say all this so you know this is the type of place that's awesome to be at if they aren't doing reservations. As soon as that happens they lose all credit of being a casual laid back hang out place that they are trying to be. Again love the concept, hate the game plan. read more
