What a great hangout spot in a nice part of Denver. We popped down here to do a little pre-work for the next day while nursing a beer. It's not often that you find a large space like this where you can lounge, work, kick back, or even set up on an outdoor patio. I thought the beer list seemed impressive, and at the risk of really being simple here.. I loved how they set up the bar line as a traditional queue. It can me mildly annoying to have linger by a busy bar waiting for bartender roulette, and this solves that problem. The QR menu says a server will come to your table but nobody ever does. You have to go to the counter to order. The menu is also not updated; I ordered the crème brûlée latte but was told "I don't think you can do that anymore" ok? Are you sure or do you not want to make it? Idk. Not helpful. At the counter, the staff was unwelcoming. A blonde woman working definitely didn't want to be here or help anybody. The latte itself was alright. Not bad at all. Less bitter than others I've had. The "cocktails" on their menu are pretty basic and lack creativity. It's just a regular bar menu with lemon drop shots and such. Nothing was interesting enough to try. The ambiance is alright. Spacious and people mind their own business. The decor is modern and artsy warehouses vibes. Moderately loud music playing and lots of conversations can be heard (raised voices due to music). Pretty standard I'd say. If I was working here with my laptop I would definitely use headphones. You could not take a phone call in here, no way the person would hear you correctly. What a cool space! I was in town for work and came here with two of my coworkers to get some work done. For a Tuesday night, this place was pretty poppin. They have a nice outside patio area that we walked through when we walked in and a few people were sitting around the fire pits all cozied up. What a cute space. I can imagine that during the summer, it's probably so fun to hang out there with friends. There was also a food truck outside, which was the only food for this area. Inside, there's lots and lots of seating and even an upstairs area with more seating. It's primarily a bar area though so we of course ordered some espresso martinis to power us through some work that we had to do. It was fun to see the different groups of people here. I definitely would come here to grab a drink with some friends and hang out, or even come back to work during the day. Wish Vegas had more cool casual places like this. read more

This was such a fun little spot to hang out at. They have a really great patio area and for the warmer months I'm sure it is really nice to sit out on. The inside had a good amount of space to and had some really fun decor. I enjoyed their drink menu. They had some creative offerings and a good amount of beers on tap. The best thing that I tried was a cocktail which I can't remember the exact name of, but it was Graham something. It had a graham cracker rim and was just a really good drink. My first impression of Improper City when I moved here wasn't positive. This was all pre-covid. Though the space is large, it was always overcrowded and the logistics were a nightmare. 5+ years later, Improper City has evolved into my rotation. I come here to cowork, they host art markets, they bring in local food trucks, frankly there's always something interesting going on here. It really is a community hub of who's who and a great place to run into someone you should probably meet. Here's my run down: +One of Denver's biggest coworking spaces, outlets and seating galore. +Coffee bar open until 3pm. Good coffee, though not great IMO. +Breakfast burritos from Uptown & Humboldt that are 5 stars. TRY THESE! +Robust and interesting draft beer list, scan QR code on bar for menu. +Large outdoor patio with seating and rotating food trucks. I really enjoy coming here now. Yes, it gets loud and crowded. But if you visit during the morning and early afternoon, it's a vibrant place to inhabit. I love their sister location of Rayback Collective in Boulder. Though Improper is the cooler and bigger older brother, they're churning and burning through the RiNo crowd and have created an exciting place to hang out. read more

It's pretty big and we got a nice booth in the corner where all 8 of us could sit. they also had some other catchy drinks like the "apple roan" and a spicy margarita. They offer board games and have really cool merch, the line is a little long for drinks, but it moves quick. I really adore the chill, artsy ambiance of this place! I visited Denver for a work trip and vacation. Sunday afternoon, I was looking for a place to get work done and this bar was recommended a few times online. It is all street parking, but I was able to find some quick. There is a TON of seating here, lots of tables and outlets, and a good amount of people were working and many just hanging out and enjoying some drinks, and even watching the football game. Since I was working, I made camp at a booth and put on my noise cancelling headphones - it is quite noisy so keep that in mind if you are planning to work! Their wifi is pretty fast and reliable. I really enjoyed the ambiance during my visit. There were some art vendors tabling inside. I talked to one and bought some jewelry, I caught one of the last of their summer markets! A guitarist played some music. And there was a flash tattoo popup. I really loved all the murals, interor furniture, tall ceilings, and big windows for a ton of natural light. Servers walked by regularly, very attentive. I wasn't in the mood for alcohol, but their espresso bar isn't open on the weekends, so they only have drip coffee and cold brew. I tried the drip coffee and it wasn't too bad. I would love to return and try some of their drinks. I also grabbed a bite at a food truck parked next to the outdoor seating, it was indian food, delish! Overall, I had such a great time here. It is a great place to chill and spend some time. Improper City has it all, in my opinion. We enjoy coming here when in RiNo or after a nice climbing session at Movement. Large (on leash dog friendly) outdoor area that has a covered tent in the colder months and shade in the warmer months and large indoor area with a plethora of different seating options ranging from secluded work rooms to tables with outlets to comfy chairs and couches. I haven't had any coffee from here yet, but the tea is good and they have a wide variety of beer and cocktails to choose from. They also have rotating food trucks in their outdoor space. The staff is pretty good at being attentive, but they can get really busy - especially on the weekends - so you may have to wait a while to get any attention if you're here by yourself with a doggo (they aren't allowed indoors). Can't hate them for being popular, I guess! read more

The concept is decent, but the execution/staff is sub-par. This place was suggested to me, strictly for internet/business use. And, those 2 stars, I so generously give, represent the fact that they do, in fact, have "free" internet available. And, I have used it on occasion, which I'm thankful for. The ambiance is "warehouse-hip-chic" -- by Denver standards. Like, the facade will beautifully fool you about its actual substance. However, everything else is struggle bus. Everybody who works there is a totally apathetic, unwelcoming a**hole. And it's because their POS system automatically adds gratuity to your check, no matter how terrible they act toward you. So, if you're a self-loathing masochist & genuinely enjoy being treated like shit by everyone there-- this place is for you! And, if you respect yourself, and appreciate quality service & a friendly environment, definitely run in the opposite direction. I went here for a girls meetup group, and I have to say that I was so impressed! I ordered a basic iced latte, bc that's how knowing the coffee is good. It was such a great latte with rich depth, but not overly complex or bitter. The service was wonderful, as the staff were all friendly. The work space in area was so massive with so many places to sit, including a massive outdoor area. There was a food truck that starting gearing up to serve lunch for people around 12:00 pm. They had a wide variety of drink options - this allowed my full party to find a cocktail of their liking. The food was also great with nice portions. However, the food trucks are expected to revolve, so I would keep this in mind. Parking was pretty minimal , but they do have lots nearby. Improper City! If you don't know, you should know! Located in the hot spot of RiNo, Improper City is a cool spot for drinks, food trucks, and even working during the day. I've experienced everything mentioned before and it hits the spot for all of them. The drinks are plentiful with a large selection of beers and delicious cocktails. I especially love their hibiscus margarita. If you're a fan of margaritas, I highly, highly recommend checking it out. There are always food trucks on their very large patio as well. I've had Asian food, sliders, and tacos there. All of them were delicious! The service is great too. You can order drinks at the bar, but there are also servers that serve the outdoor patio as well. I've never had an issue with service here. Although I've just listed a few things I love about this place, my favorite thing about Improper City is the atmosphere. The inside is very open with plenty of space to mingle without being too loud or crowded. We came on a Saturday around 4, and this place was hopping. There was quite a line for cocktails, but it moved fast. This place does it all! I have come here to work remote and on the weekend for drinks and food with friends. It is two different experiences. As a work environment, there is plenty of seating and strong wifi. I appreciate that they have breakfast food items and a coffee bar in the morning. As a non work environment, they have a great range of beers on tap plus a full bar. That is important because not everyone drinks beer. The outdoor space is great for sunny days. I like that all the tables have umbrellas - shade / protection from the sun is critical in Colorado! There is always 2-3 food truck options. I haven't ate anything bad here and always find a good option. There are also outdoor games such as corn hole. The service is a mix of order yourself at the bar and servers coming by your table. This place is amazing! I wish we had a place like this back home. It's such a smart combination. There's a bar, a coffee shop, food trucks, plenty of seating, and of course great Wi-Fi. My little millennial heart is still in awe over this space! Just imagine, you have been heads down, working for about three hours and you're wrapping up the end of your day. You don't even have to leave the location and get yourself a proper drink. They have a full bar, with some great bartenders, and even some barista's dishing out some excellent drinks, I really liked the chai. They also had some food selections indoors, but outside they have a rotating food truck. I don't remember the name of the food truck from when I was there but I do know that it had a focus on chicken tenders and sandwiches. They give you a small buzzer that will notify you once your food is ready, and yes it does work even if you go indoors. The food was served piping hot and was quite affordable. They have tons of seating both indoors and outdoors. There's plenty of bathroom stalls. Never thought I would be excited to talk about bathrooms, but this is one of the first places that I've been to that provides pads and tampons for guests. Honestly, they should be everywhere and I definitely commend them for having this accessible. For parking, I don't remember too much sense. I.e. to a car there. They do have plenty of scooters and some street parking available around the area. As far as noise, there was a low buzz in the area if that makes sense lol you could definitely conduct a zoom meeting in the space if you need it to without being worried about being distracted. Overall, I had a really great time and will definitely be back once I'm in the area. Honestly, I need to get my money together so I can open up something similar in my city. Living next to improper city is the best excuse to get drunk because I don't gotta drive home and what better day than a Sunday afternoon!?! The only issue was lack of food. There was only 1 food truck and it was so slow. And food was disappointing. And by late afternoon the line for the bar was all the way outside. But the drinks are delicious!!!
