I've been going here with my family for years. This trip I was the chauffeur. So many great eats here from cooked food, desserts, and frozen items to cook at home. This place is clean and always busy. There are all sorts of goodies everywhere you look. This trip we bought: 1. Laing: My mom's favorite and go to. 2. Karioka: One of my favorite items here. First bite brings me back to memories of my lola making this at home. It tastes exactly the same. The crunch with each bite and perfect amount of sweetness. The only difference is this is a lot bigger than what my lola made, but so worth the trip. 3. Turon: Perfect size with perfect ratio of banana and langka. This had the same crunchy and sweetness on the outside as the karioka. It tasted like the panutsa that they use not the typical brown sugar or sugar coating. 4. Kakanin sampler: This is delicious. My least favorite was the sapin sapin. It was a little hard and the consistency wasn't ma kunat. A certain kind of chewy texture that I don't know how to explain. 5. Frozen tocino: It seems a little pricey but more than enough to feed a family of 4. This made the perfect tocilog at home. I forgot to take a pic after it was cooked, but the color was perfect. 6. Frozen longanisa: Sadly, this was a little too sweet for us. I'm not sure if it was just an off batch but I think I'll stay away from that for now. We kept adding to our order because we would see something else that looked good. The gentleman helping us was like,"Anything else?" Thank you to him for being so patient with us lol. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back sooner than later.

Another Filipino shop part of the seafood city plaza in Milpitas! It offers both sweets and hot foods like fish, meats, and more. My mom got what she wanted with a large dessert platter for the holidays. It varies from $29 to their smallest platter to $65 for their largest platter. It's a small family shop and service was quick and easy. Can't wait to feast on the desserts!

Chicharon

I was so excited to go back to San Jose and come back to this place for their chicharon. The first time i had it, it was so good. So i came back for more. Very disappointing. I understand the price increase but the quality just went down the drain. It tasted like they used a very very old cooking oil. Never again. Waste of money!!!

Tocino

Tocino is a childhood fave for me and moving to the US, it was difficult to find good ones that's very similar to home. So never mind that it's more expensive than the ones at the grocery stores, this one is the best Filipino tocino I ever had. When you fry it, it caramelizes perfectly and the pork is very tender. recommend!

This location is located at the seafood city Plaza. We came on a busy Sunday and luckily they were able to still make us a tray. This is the best place to get Filipino desserts. They also have turo turo filipino.

Came by to get some Ukoy. 4 stars. Their ukoy has minimal batter and plenty of veggies, which I like. But only one shrimp. Wish they had more little shrimp in it. Goes for 4.50$ for one Ukoy but it's pretty filling and comes with garlic vinegar. They also have a variety of deserts like cassava cake (4 stars) and sweet rice desert. Their banana egg roll: 2.5 stars. Was ok. Not the best I've had. Wish it had some jackfruit inside. And the banana was a bit hard and not too soft. They sell some hot foods for lunch - a la cart or part of a meal. I didn't get any since I was not sure what anything was. They had plenty of variety of fish dishes as well.

Platter I bought that contained many items with mold on them.

I'd be wary of this place. I bought a platter of desserts and when I brought it home I found it had mold on many of the desserts and the sapin sapin was hard. Check the photos - see the mold we discovered on the products. I wish I didn't have to write this but someone can get really sick and serving moldy food to customers is concerning.

2023/037 A very quaint shop offering authentic Filipino homemade cuisine and traditional flavorful desserts. We came here to buy Carioca which is a sweet chewy fried glazed balls made out if sweet rice flour and shredded coconuts. Friendly and very welcoming store environment.

Specks of mold on the biko.

Just so happened to be at Seafood City for the first time in a while and noticed this shop. I was excited to see that they had my favorite Filipino desserts, so I bought some biko, espasol and palitaw and they tasted pretty good. The next day, I saw that there was mold all over the biko, so I threw everything away. What a huge waste of money, and it's not like these items were cheap.

We just purchased this kakanin today and they tasted bad "sour". I hope this store check the quality of their before selling them.

We just purchased this kakanin today and they tasted bad "sour". I hope this store check the quality of their before selling them. It's embarrassing we served it at our birthday dinner and some people are not familiar of the taste until one of us tasted it.

This your $15.50 price small Adobo Squid!!

A small order of the Adobo Squid was $15.50 ..I could have gone to Goldilocks and they were only 5 small squids...I could have gone to Goldilocks!!

What’s in their pancit palabok? Is it good tasting?

No it wasn't good at all. The noodles was soggy and the chicharrones bits were chunky and stale. Worst version ever. I prefer the ones at Goldilocks or Valerios

Do you accept delivery?

yes they do go on doordash app

Dining here feels like going to your tita's house for a family party. It's cozy, comforting, and full of love: the epitome of Filipino culture. The portions are generous, the quality is consistently on point, and the ambiance is always inviting. If you are anywhere near Kalesa, consider yourself lucky. It is such a blessing to have it close by. I can pop in anytime a craving hits for their pork menudo, sizzling sisig, or pansit palabok. Must-try staples include Chicken or Pork Adobo (a rich savory stew), Lumpiang Shanghai (crispy spring rolls), and Pancit Bihon (classic Filipino noodles). Be sure to finish with halo-halo, a popular shaved ice dessert. My family literally drives up from SoCal just to eat here. It is THAT good. If you have never tried Filipino food, Kalesa is the perfect starting point for your Pinoy culinary adventure.

Kalesa tells us we need to wait until all party is "physically" here. We have been waiting for 30 mins and now they tell us we need to wait another 20 mins. This is a reservation!!!! They even have the audacity to cancel a reservation in the past. This place has no consideration for your time!!! They run this place "Filipino time"‍

Its a very wonderful experience! First off, parking is huge!…read more That day is my sister-in-law father's death anniversary. We called in on a Monday night, no hassle, no need to book an appointment for the party of 12 people, less hassle. We ordered our food and the waiter is so nice to tell us that we have a free appetizer! Which we had fried tofu (they have other options too). We got the unlimited rice which is cool for people who love to eat rice. Bad side? Our order got a little mishap, the kitchen forgot one of our order Chicharon bulaklak, but we never mind cause we are already full. But, that's less money on the management. One note, for people more than 6 people, you are being charged for service fee (so watch out). Secondly, cause we are regulars here, the food we had now is not as good as flavorful as we had before. Better retrain the kitchen for the betterment of the taste. All in all we had a blast! Thank you people on the floor to make that happen!

The only one I remembered to get was the Halo Halo, which was a little over $10. So that alone should give you an idea of the prices. (Side note...I attended a gathering that catered from another Isla location and just like the San Bruno location, the food was really good)

I'm still searching for my "go to" Filipino restaurant and this isn't it. It would do in a pinch though and if you're hankering for some skewers of meat, you could definitely do worse. FOOD: Good but not great as I said before. I did enjoy the chicken skewers but found the pancit lacking. The rice...was okay. Pretty good actually. SERVICE: Loved the portions and it was packaged well so good marks for that. COST: For the portions, the cost was very reasonable and honestly, if the food was a bit better, I would give it even a higher score.

For my meal, I ordered the grilled pompano, pork sinigang, and dinakdakan. The grilled pompano was decent and cooked nicely. The pork sinigang was good, and the broth had a solid tamarind flavor that was not too sour. That said, it was missing some of the veggies such as string beans, eggplants, tomatoes, and okra. The dinakdakan was really good, with a nice sweet and savory taste. The customer service was good, but overall it was slow, so it helps to plan for a bit of a wait. On top of that, the surroundings were clean, and there's plenty of parking.

I've had my fair share of tusok-tusok experiences in California and I mean it when I say that I am happy this place opened up. I think prices are pretty fair for a bbq stick in the Bay Area. They carry pork bbq, hot dogs, intestine, kwek-kwek, bettamax, pig ears, etc! Although I wish they had fishball or squid ball for even more variety but thats ok. They provide a marinade to brush on while you grill your own BBQ and provide vinegar and another sweet sauce for you to dip it in post-grilling. Overall, the flavor is really good and you can't really go wrong. They carry other items on the menu in which they serve to you such as sisig, pares, siaomai, empanada (available weekends only), lumpia, melon juice, etc. And yes they have rice! I wish I took pictures of the food we ordered but the kids got to it first while we were bbqing. We went on a Thursday evening so it wasn't too crowded but they still kept the party going with karaoke and music. I could imagine the place being full on weekends. The parking could also get tricky in that area if full too. They take cash, Zelle, and card (with surcharge). The grill is located inside in the center of the restaurant so it gets pretty smoky inside even with all the doors open and vents running. So expect to smell like delicious bbq coming out lol.
