Pork Sinigang combo

Went on June 2026, I was a bit skeptical, but boy I was amaze on how good the food is, priced well and very generous portions! Parking a bit tricky but this is hands down my new favorite Filipino food in Santa Clara!

Ginisang Munggo
Priscilla C.

My friends and I were craving Filipino food, so I suggested we come to Toppings Tree. My brother has brought home food from here in the past which was really good, including their Crispy Pata. This time around I ordered the ginisang munggo with pork, which was a hearty mung bean stew with lechon in it! It was piping hot and enough for two people. The people who work here are really kind and patient, and the other people who stay and eat seem to be friends with the staff. Overall a comfy environment with no-frills decor. Unfortunately, I have to knock off a star because our order of lumpia had a couple of pieces which were undercooked inside. Maybe too many pieces in the fryer at once? I'd come back, and I want to try Toppings Too as well!

Eeek! I haven't written an update to Toppings Tree in a loooooooooong time. So many visits, so little time. After COVID, the restaurant hasn't been quite the same. On a recent visit, I drove over only to find they only do to-go orders on Wednesdays. Did you know that? The restaurant and bathroom look a little worse for wear, but the food still satisfies my craving for deep-fried pork fat-give me my lechon kawali, yum! On another visit, we got multiple lechon kawali plates, garlic spinach, and an order of halo halo. In addition to my recent lechon kawali, lumpia, & garlic bok choy, we've also had the Special combo plate. I tried the lechon kawali and crispy chicken combo. The chicken was a leg quarter. It was dry and didn't satisfy like that lechon.

Food and service were great! As noted in other reviews, they have generous portions for their food. The Crispy Pata was cooked at its best, light and crunchy. Glad to find another Filipino restaurant in San Jose. The facility needs more ventilation. It was a cooler day today but could imagine how hot it can get be inside the resto during hot days.

Craving some of your favorite Filipino snacks, can conveniently buy from here

This 5 star review is for their catering. I have 2 go to local Filipino restaurants for my catering orders, including this one. It all depends on hours and what I need. Toppings Tree can do same day, especially on weekdays and non-holidays. The planner in me puts in order at least one business day in advance. To celebrate last class of semester, I treated my students to pancit. They prepare several styles of pancit and I ordered them the "guisado" which is only the cellophane/glass noodles. I personally enjoy the "miki-bihon" which is a mixture of cellophane & egg noodles. There is a decent ratio of veggie/protein to noodles. Enjoy as a side dish rather primary source of protein and veggies. Like in Philippine shops in the homeland, they have a mini storefront to buy one of your favorite nostalgic snacks. Dine-in only in the later part of week. Other days are to go only.

Came here on a Thursday for lunch. It was around 11:30 am so it hadn't gotten busy yet. Parking- gps leads you to the back parking lot. You have to go through the corridor to the front to spot the restaurant. Service- it was good. Food: -Sinigang with shrimp: huge soup. It was a little too lemony for my taste. But my girlfriends who grew up in the Philippines, they liked it. -Liang: it's a mushy tarp leaves. It's not aesthetically pretty but it is very tasty with chucks of delicious roast pork -inihaw na belly bangus: the grilled fish was also very good. -Crispy Pata: this was the BEST and the highlight. The ham hock was fried to a perfectly amazing crunch. Seasoned just right and paired with the vinegar was awesome. Loved it so much, ordered a take out one to give to a friend.

Sizzling Sisig

A few months ago we came to try this place since we were hungry and have also been to the sister restaurant Toppings Too (great names lol). Mainly, there isn't much of a difference in the food quality, it's the same p=menu items and same price overall. We ordered some of our favs: sizzling sisig and grilled tocino with java rice. both were great as always with great char on the tocino. The main difference though between Toppings Tree and Toppings Too is that this restaurant is much more spacious with plenty of tables and leg room. While Toppings Too is cramped and stuffy at times (which has its own charm as a humble hole in the wall), whereas there's brightness in the restaurant that is a bit more inviting.

Beef Tapa, Lechon Kawali, Grilled Longaniza with Java Rice
May L.

We decided to try this restaurant while waiting for our latte art class to start. We shared the 3 selection of silog and chose beef tapa, lechon kawali and loganisa. We also added the side of the tomato, onion and salted egg salad. The Java rice was different from the typical garlic rice you'd get with your silog. This was just missing a runny egg yolk to top it off. The portion was large enough to share with someone else.

Background: Toppings Tree is a hidden gem and a filipino food go-to for those living in the Santa Clara/ San Jose area. Amazing filipino food with large servings will definitely not disappoint. Location: Being near the downtown college area, there is free parking across the street but may be busy depending on the lunch rush. We came here with our church family and the line outside was long around 12pm-1pm so expect to come early. Food: I recommend everything on the menu honestly but if there is one thing to try first it would be their beef Sinigang. The meat-on-bone was huge yet so soft. The Crispy Pata is cut in large cubes that would have you reaching for your cholesterol medicine after enjoying a few. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Toppings Tree of you want authentic Filipino food. It is perfect for large groups or for a family lunch date.

Chicken adobo plate

Really great food! I had the chicken adobo plate and tried the halo halo, definitely will be back!

Ordered this online for 23$ and they don't even fill it up, just half of the container. Absolute ripoff paying that much and only giving half

Combo plate - bangus and pork belly
Venus L.

Look, my fiancé and I don't have that many Filipino food options near us so when we were in the area getting boba and we see a Filipino restaurant that smells divine.. you bet your bottom dollar that I'm going to want to walk in and sit myself down. But I didn't. I politely waited till the waitress noticed me and then I chose a table. The menu is extensive and because I couldn't decide what to get, I opted for their combo meal and choose the pork belly and bangus fish and my fiancé got their longsilog. The food was good and it came out in a timely manner. It was enough fat for me to feel like my heart would stop in the middle of my meal and I had enough leftovers to make another meal the next day. Parking is all along the street and timed. The staff was friendly and this place is worth a visit if you're in the area.

Nothing left mid-day. Shop was empty! NO ADOBO. Like, WHAT?? Completely empty hot trays for a Filipino place is crazy to me.

Ask the Community - Toppings Tree Restaurant

Is there indoor dining now?

Yes, I have eaten there twice over the past few months, but I'm disappointed that the sizzling plates have not made its way back yet.

What are Sunday business hours?

11:00 AM - 9:00 PM

Do you guys do catering? I was thinking about buying some food from you guys because I have a company party this wednesday at 8:30pm.

They do cater - they offer party trays / catering trays of anything on their menu. You do however, have to pick up.

Before you knew it, tables were filling up with families out to celebrate or post-church. The decor is fun, lots to look at and they have games at the table. We were given a menu and some cold water and soon after, someone came to take our order. We got the crispy pata with rice and egg, and also another two meat combo. The sisig was amazing, melt in your mouth and flavorful albeit a bit salty. They ran out of the cantaloupe drink which made me sad because thats one of my favorites, but I got a calamansi drink instead and that was refreshing and cold which was perfectly paired with the fairly fatty and dense crispy pata. The pickled cucumbers on the side are a perfect addition to the salty meat. Overall, good experience! Garlic rice could've been a tad more flavorful in my opinion but other than that, delicious.

Longanisa- sweet pork sausage; came with 3 pieces. Wish they were grilled. Seemed like just boiled. Juicy but not too fatty. Fried Chicken - crispy thin skin. Had a funny taste to it. Not sure if it's their seasoning or the chicken was freezer burnt. Lechon Kawali - this was the best meat in the combo. Crunchy fried outside but juicy at the same time. Good ratio of fat to meat. Yummy. Garlic rice was not oily and good serving size. Also had 2 over medium eggs. Came with pickled cucumber in sweet vinegar brine. Also came with 3 dips: ketchup, vinegar and the sweet peppery lechon sauce. Cost $30. Nice staff. 3 Stars then and now.

We called in on a Monday night, no hassle, no need to book an appointment for the party of 12 people, less hassle. We ordered our food and the waiter is so nice to tell us that we have a free appetizer! Which we had fried tofu (they have other options too). We got the unlimited rice which is cool for people who love to eat rice. Bad side? Our order got a little mishap, the kitchen forgot one of our order Chicharon bulaklak, but we never mind cause we are already full. But, that's less money on the management. One note, for people more than 6 people, you are being charged for service fee (so watch out). Secondly, cause we are regulars here, the food we had now is not as good as flavorful as we had before. Better retrain the kitchen for the betterment of the taste. All in all we had a blast! Thank you people on the floor to make that happen!

Thankfully, there was plenty of street parking right around. We walked in and saw the good selection of food available on the steam table. We both ordered a 2-item plate; mine had the lechon kawali (deep fried pork) and the longanisa (breakfast sausage), while she chose the sisig (chopped up pork cooked with onion and jalapeños) and fried bangus (milkfish). Our plates also came with steamed rice and soup. Since this is a cafeteria style place, our food was ready to eat (though our server offered to heat up the bangus a little in the kitchen). The lechon was very good, not too fatty but still had plenty of crispy skin to go along with the meat. The longanisa was also tasty, very sweet and not spicy. My devoured the bangus, dipping it in spicy vinegar. Since we were in a bit of a hurry, we took some of our food home for breakfast the day. This is a very solid place for a quick meal. There isn't much seating inside, and there were many orders placed to-go while we were having lunch. Will definitely return the next time we're in the area.

The layout is much like a "Panda Express" style, or what is traditionally known in Filipino culture as a *turo-turo* ("point-point") restaurant. You line up at the glass counter, pick whatever combo size you want, and they plop the portions onto your plate as you move down the line. It leans m heavily on the greasy side, but it delivers that exact, deeply savory Filipino flavor profile that you just crave. The Winners: The pancit (noodles) was good and hit the spot. The beef with gravy, the classic Beef Mechado (stewed with potatoes in a rich tomato-based gravy), was another highlight, incredibly flavorful. The Critique: (Timing is Key) You should try to time your visit right. If you catch them right at a transition or later in a service stretch, some items can sit a bit. On our last visit, the deep-fried pork belly (lechon kawali) and the chicken adobo were unfortunately on the dry side. Next Time's Order: The Lumpia Shanghai (mini fried pork spring rolls) are light, crispy, and a crowd favorite. Definitely add a side of those on your next trip! It's an unassuming, local gem that serves up great flavor; just try to get there when the batches are fresh out of the kitchen!
