Pretty good Filipino food! Came here on a Friday around 6:30 and was seated right away. Got the milkfish sisig and my partner got the tocino. The sisig was a bit salty but once you eat it with the pickled cucumbers, it cuts through the saltiness. Enough for two people if you order rice! Tocino was a bit sweeter than my partner preferred so he'll probably try something else next time. Good to know there's a Filipino spot though in the South Bay. Solid 4 star experience. Came here on Father's day, and arrived right around noon and there were still some tables open. Before you knew it, tables were filling up with families out to celebrate or post-church. The decor is fun, lots to look at and they have games at the table. We were given a menu and some cold water and soon after, someone came to take our order. We got the crispy pata with rice and egg, and also another two meat combo. The sisig was amazing, melt in your mouth and flavorful albeit a bit salty. They ran out of the cantaloupe drink which made me sad because thats one of my favorites, but I got a calamansi drink instead and that was refreshing and cold which was perfectly paired with the fairly fatty and dense crispy pata. The pickled cucumbers on the side are a perfect addition to the salty meat. Overall, good experience! He also told me of their other location in Santa Clara called Tapsilog Cantina. Pork Inihaw Na Liempo: Griddled european pork belly with skin marinated pinoy style (3/5). I ordered it with garlic rice. The rice had some hard inedible things in it. Also the pork belly was a bit chewy and saltier than expected. The pickled julienned cucumbers were delicious! The 3 kids and I were out and about in the South Bay and everyone started to get hungry, D1 wanted Filipino food and none of us had been here before so it was worth a check out. In a random strip mall with nothing much in it, however plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for indoors. Cute setup inside, tables with sungka boards and shells. Banana leaves. Cute. Menu was pretty extensive but we opted for silogs, and the girls shared. The girls had the bistek and sisig, SonShine had the sisig and lechon kawali, and I had the bangus and inihaw na liempo. I've been wanting to swing by Tapsilog and today I finally did. We went around 9:45-10am. I ordered a 3 meat bilao. I chose longanisa, sisig and pancit as my 3 "meats". I think for the price the portion size is super generous and I left with leftovers. You can never go wrong with longanisa. The pork sisig was nicely cooked and super flavorful. Our order was ready sooner than the expected time and the staff was very friendly when picking up the order. This place brought me back to my Filipino parent's house. I ate the Grand Boneless Bangus which satisfied my craving, and my boyfriend ate the Bicol Express. The sizzling porchop and grilled pork was way salty (maybe the cook poured the same amount of iodized salt instead of rock salt). The garlic rice has undercooked garlic. We came to Tapsilog Bistro for brunch on a Sunday morning, and they had just opened up so there were plenty of tables to choose from. We all ordered a meat combo, and I loved their serving size and the ability to customize! I wanted longanisa and lumpia, but also wanted tortang talong (eggplant), and they were able to honor my request. I ordered the lychee sangria, and it was made to perfection. The service was wonderful! We stayed for close to 2 hours, and they continuously checked up on us even as the restaurant started to fill up. At one point, a man who I believe is the owner came around and greeted everyone. He really came in there and rolled up his sleeves to help his staff on a busy day, as all business owners should! My son and I came on a Tuesday around 5:30 and there were only 2 other people dining in. It's a small older strip mall but not very busy and plenty of parking. We had lechon kawali kare kare. Good variety of meats to build a bilao but unfortunately all of them came lukewarm. Griddled pork belly wasn't particularly tender, chicken adobo was good but fairly mild in taste (other than decently salty), and the milkfish as well as the eggplant omelette with beef were pretty average. The garlic rice was chewy and relatively well-flavored and the sunny side up egg on top came runny. The vegetarian pancit with tofu and noodles comes as an enormous portion - probably enough for 2-3 people if it was the only dish ordered. This was flavored well even without the lemon squeezed over it. But my mom noted that some portions of the noodles make contact with the (probably unwashed) basket, which was off-putting. We also asked for a soup recommendation. Unfortunately I wasn't listening when he recommended one of the soups, which was the tamarind one that neither of my parents had tried nor heard of before. They didn't like it due to the sourness (and we've had Chinese hot and sour soup before). But I think it's a little less sour than hot and sour soup and a little more savory from the broth (possibly meat broth). Nothing wrong with it for those who like tamarind. We had the meat replaced with beef (the menu options are pork or seafood) and the soup came with about 8 huge and tender beef chunks! The soup also contained some okra, spinach, green beans, onions, and tomatoes. The total was ~$70 for 3 people and we took home 3 pyrex dishes worth of leftovers. I didn't notice before, but I don't really know why we were only given 1 egg (even specified that on the receipt) for the 4-meat Bilao (which says 2 eggs on the menu) because we definitely weren't asked anything about that. read more

We got the 4 meat combo and I got the longsilog (sweet sausage), tocilog (Filipino sweet bacon), lechon kawali silog (crispy pork belly), and the pork adobo silog. I liked all the meats besides the crispy pork belly which I thought was too dry and crispy for me but I've got old lady teeth so it's more of a personal problem. We got the order to go so can't comment on the service but we liked the food and it wasn't too oily. We've dined at Tapsilog Bistro several times, and I've been meaning to write this review for a while now. Most recently, one of our (non-filipino) physician colleagues was retiring and specifically requested sisig for his retirement lunch. Without hesitation, Tapsilog Bistro was at the top of my list and it did not disappoint. Their sisig is absolutely delicious, hearty and perfectly seasoned, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. Overall, this place is about as close as you can get to home-cooked Filipino food outside of someone's kitchen. Everything we've tried has been consistently excellent. Highly recommend the Sisig, Silogs, Kare-Kare, Lechon Kawali, Ensaladang Talong, Seafood Sinigang, and especially the Kamayan Bilao, which is perfect for sharing.
