I tried several contact brands. He ordered as much as I needed, as I couldn't find the right fit. Eventually I left with contacts that fit great, and a beautiful pair of stylish glasses. I am a complicated case. I have had six eye surgeries, and I have a mix of implanted lens, contact and glasses. Dr. Truong is not just an excellent optometrist, he is an excellent technical optometrist. He took extra time to make sure I had the correct Rx, and was incredibly easy to work with from my perspective. As someone with a complex case, I am decently conversant in the language of optometry, and the doctor and his staff were very easy to communicate with. Everyone was competent at their craft. We are so glad to have found Dr Truong! He was super patient and explained each step of the exam to my Mom. He even found something that needed further attention that the previous optometrist missed! They explained all the charges and what was covered by our insurance as well as going over the different options we had. Their frame selection was diverse and felt carefully curated. I went in for my regular eye check up and prescription updates. The staff were very friendly and were continuously cleaning glasses after every customer tries them on. The doctor saw me right on time. Coming from retail check ups with LensCrafter, I noticed what really sets IMAGINE apart was the doctor and staffs knowledge of optometry, insurance, and glasses. I had questions ranging from my insurance coverage to LASIK/PRK qualifications, and they explained and even elaborate on each thoroughly. After my check up, I requested nose pads installation from them because my glasses kept sliding down my face, they have not slid since! I also purchased a 141 glasses; they have been extremely durable. It's been 1 year now and I still haven't gotten any scratches or deformation even though I wear them daily. Went in for getting a new pair of glasses. This is a thoroughly messed up state of affairs from eye testing to delivery of eyeglasses, when I had spent $500 on a new frame with these bunch of jokers. 1. After my eye test, they send me home with a pair of glasses, which didn't seem right. After I complained, they realized their lab had made a mistake and sent me the wrong prescription altogether. 2. They "fixed" the glasses in another 2 weeks and sent me home with another pair. This didn't feel right too as it made my eyesight blurred 3. Doctor did another tests and figures out that my prescription had to change slightly for a correction. Seems like he missed doing those tests in the first place. Back to the Lab a 3rd time. 4. I get a pair of glasses again. Try it on and in their shop itself, it seems wrong. Doctor comes out (slighly apologetic) that they messed up again and sent me the wrong prescription. Going to send it to the lab again to fix this. I walk back to my car to calm down, came back in and mentioned that I don't want to deal with this unprofessional place anymore, and want a full refund. When I calmly told them that I want my money back, they did with the doctor calling this "bad luck", for which I give them this 1-star for. read more

I had the best eye exam here which is totally odd to say because you don't expect to go into an eye exam and enjoy it. Dr. Truong is extremely kind, friendly and knowledgeable. It was definitely the most comprehensive eye exam I've ever received and makes me question why I even bothered with Kaiser in the past. He takes his time and explains the "why" behinds things and gives you a detailed plan for your eye care going forward. He did not rush thru the entire examination process. He is very detail oriented and his research background clearly reflects in his analysis. Since moving to the area, I dreaded the thought of lining up a new team of care providers, dentists, doctors, optometrists, etc. I had originally wanted someone a bit closer to my house, but decided on Imagine Optometry. I could not be more satisfied with my decision and the care I've received from Dr. Truong. He really took the time to review my case (and it's a bit complicated, I confess), do a thorough eye exam, and have a fitting done for two kinds of contact lenses. He had my contacts delivered to my home, which was fantastic. When, about two months later, the contacts were starting to irritate my eyes, he had me come in for another quick look, then suggested perhaps a refit for another kind of lenses. Well he checked my chart and sure enough, the lenses I had requested, he had already fitted me for, so there was no need to come in for another exam. I was originally planning to come here for a quick contact lens prescription so I could order some contacts before I left for a trip, but now I'm going to keep coming back for life. Right from the start it was obvious that Dr. Truong truly cared about his patients. He spent almost two hours to help me pick out a brand of contacts that felt comfortable in my eyes. Unlike all the other optometrists I went to in the past, who simply gave me a pair of Acuvue Oasys to wear and called that a "contact fitting", Dr. Truong whipped out almost 6 different pairs of contact lenses for me to wear and compare before I left. He even gave me a week's worth of contact lenses to wear for the duration of my trip before I came back for my final evaluation. Last time I was here was about a year ago and I came back to get new glasses for my wife. My wife and I have been looking for a new optometrist that was skilled, efficient and thorough but also had a good retail selection of frames. We typically liked going to UC Berkeley for these reasons but the parking was starting to be an issue as well as the length of time for an appointment. My wife found Imagine Optometry on Yelp and we have been incredibly happy. Dr Truong is a Cal Graduate and also teaches at Cal. He is very efficient and thorough and actually tweaked my prescription to where I have sharper vision as a result of a minor correction to my original prescription from Cal. They have a great stylish selection of frames for eyeglasses and sunglasses. They carry really nice brands that you don't see everywhere such as: Tom Ford, Mont Blanc, SALT, and IC Berlin. Additionally they carry other common nice frames such as Ray Ban, Prada, Zegna, Coach, Tiffany, Dolce & Gabbana, etc. We were so pleased with the service. Dr. Truong makes me feel he really cared about my vision needs, has tons of patience, and explains everything in great detail. He went extra miles and did additional tests that other optometrists ignored before, such as taking images of the blood vessels in the back of my eyes for future reference, checking "blind spots", etc. My exam (no contact, just regular) lasted for over an hour, which was beyond my expectations. One Saturday afternoon on a long weekend, I was "Yelping" ( I guess that is a term these days for searching:-)) for an Optometrist with 5 star reviews, open till late, in the Tri-Valley, and accepts VSP! Hurray!! I found Imagine Optometry!!! Thrilled and excited, I decided to drive there. The office ambience is very contemporary and I really liked the colorful paintings of Gandhi and the Beatles! Staff was super friendly! I was able to schedule my whole family's appointment for the next day which was a Sunday! Fast forward to the appointment next day, All of us were very impressed with Dr. Truong. He is super knowledgeable and extremely patient and helpful! The exam was very thorough! Now it was time to select the glasses:-). Which can be fun but challenging too! Margaret, the receptionist, was great in helping us pick the right front frames. But a HUGE loud Shout-out Mary, Dr. Truong's wife! She is awesome! Mary is extremely patient, helpiful, and knowledgeable! She helped each of us pick frames, took care of the measurements and all the paperwork! My teenage son had hard time selecting the frame. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They were not at all pushy and didn't try to promote expensive frames and add ons! My son ended up picking frame from Imagine line. I took my 6 year old there based on the reviews. He doesn't wear glasses and the doctor insisted on putting eye drops to complete the exam. I was forced to let him do it to finish the exam. It was uncomfortable and took a ling time. We ended up with a prescription for 1.5 and 2.5 in each eye- based on an eye exam while eyes are dilated!!!! No I have to go somewhere else for an eye exam that isn't so strong and doesn't require drops. Oh and my child would never go back there again!! read more

For me it was 5 stars when they just opened years ago. But that changed when i got my eye exam and contanct lens last month. I dont know why but i shouldnt have come back for the contanct lens fitting cause I felt rushed on my first appointment for my routine eye exam. For the CL fitting, He didnt even asked what brand i wanted to try, he just gave me the same brand he prescribed 4 or 5 years ago. I even told him what if i wanted to try a different brand, he said there's additional $26 to get refitted. I was confused and suprised when he finalised my prescription right after my exam. I thought you're supposed to try it first at least give it a week or 2 before they finalized your prescription. He just gave the preacription and say anything if i needed to come back for a follow up. unfortunately I had dry eyes & pain after 3 days of wearing it. so i called and i made sure that they dont charge me for the appointment cauae i expalined it the girl thay there should be a follow up visit. And the girl i spoke with agreed. So i went in there, but this time the Dr. told me that if this second CL trial dont work then that means that my eyes are not used to wearing contanct lens anymore. He didnt even offer an advise or solution for my dry eyes... He gave me a new CL to try on, gave me a new prescription for it and that's it... Again, he didnt say anything to come back for a follow up. After a week I called cause i was having hard time seeing in distance and my vision was kind a blurry. But the girl i spoke with this time she just keep saying that i need to pay again to get refitted. I asked why do i need to pay if the CL trial he gave me is not working for me.... she just kept saying that it takes a lot of time to sit and do the exam all over again... really! That's the first time i heard of that. I've had contanct lens fitting/exam before with other Optometrist. And they have me try few diffrent brands before settling on a permanent one. They wont even finalised the prescription till i find the right contact lens that suits me. But with them I felt rushed with my appointments they should have told me that they will only give me 2 contact lens trial and they dont do follow ups and if those CL trials doesnt work then there's an additional fee after that.... Well, I've decided to go back to my other optometrist instead. read more

As you walk you instantly feel comfortable and at home, with a great layout and option of brands from more affordable pieces to High End ones such as Tom Ford and Ic! Berlin.
