I also found out that if you pump up the break pedal and it holds, it probably not the master cylinder, which makes sense. I told the guy at the counter I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it because it's an old car with a lot of miles on it, but I still use it as a backup. It's worth maybe $3,000. So I left the car and got an estimate a couple of hours later with $7,500 worth or recommended repairs, including a new master cylinder, brakes shoes, new hoses and tires, system flushes, etc. etc. I literally told them that that I didn't want to spend a lot of money and really only wanted the brakes looked at. It's an old car and I get that it has a lot of stuff that is wearing out. But maybe next time do what the customer asked and quote the job at hand first before you try to upsell a bunch of extra stuff.

Everything was great until they got to my cabin air filter which sits behind the glove compartment. It takes about 5 seconds to access the filter, and I was surprised that the filter they showed me was so dirty as the car had approximately only 6,200 miles on it and had never been on a dirt road. They quoted me $50.00 to replace this filter. My 81-year-old geriatric, senility inclined dumbass told them to change it, although I knew better. The filter costs about $18.00. They had already taken the 5 seconds to access it and remove it. Putting the new one in and closing the glove box would take another 10 seconds which should have been covered under the component inspection price included with the oil change. THE ISSUE HERE IS they charged me $50.00 for an $18.00 filter and $32.00 for a 10 second installation. Nice place and nice folks don't always add up to the best service.

He read the message but never responded. The following day, which was the day he was supposed to show up, came and went, still no word from him. This situation ended up costing me not only the $50 fee, but also over $300 in rental fees, not to mention the inconvenience of rearranging my schedule. They replaced the drum and brake shoes. The car ride home was great so I believe they solved it. I did not know that it is illegal in the United States to surcharge a debit card but found out in time for me to inform Network Automotive. They said they would charge my debit card the 2% fee. Out of caution, I used my credit card and took the hit because my card will back up any problems should they arise related to the work. I am in touch with Attorney General Kris Mayes office to investigate this. Per the Federal Law, they can add surcharge to credit, but not debit cards. Stay tuned because if I see surcharges on debit cards with any other merchant, I will turn them in.
